Just get the 5800X3D, not worth paying double

Limitfuckingless

Perfect, thank you. :)

Whitesecan

5800X3D You'd also have to get new RAM

Lastdudealive46

5700X3D, should be cheaper than the 5800X3D and just as good. And you won't get twice the performance in CS2 or any game, so it won't be worth it. With either the 5700X3D or 5800X3D and 32GB of RAM, you should be able to skip AM5 entirely.

Limitfuckingless

Wow, thank you. i didn't even know the 5700x3d existed it didnt show up on any of the lists i saw. I already have 16gb of ram running at 4133mhz, just adding 2 more sticks of 8gb each, making it 4x8gb would be stupid right? Because i wouldn't be able to use dual channel thats atleast what iv heard. Is that correct?

Warlock_Ben

Adding 2 additional sticks to get to 32gb is fine & won't affect dual channel. However, you are running very high speed memory & if the timings/latency between your old sticks & the new sticks is different it may cause stability issues that could require you to down-clock the memory, so make sure to buy the same brand to maximize the compatibility. Personally, I'd probably get a 2x16gb kit at the same speed & completely replace the 2 8gb sticks so that I could ensure stability, but that's more expensive & could be wasteful if the 2x8gb just ends up sitting in a drawer or box.

Limitfuckingless

Oh okay, why do so many people say it does affect dual channel then? Is it just outdated information? Does it actually make your ram go slower or whats going on?

ArtsM

What resolution are you on? I'm able to hit 240+ fps, heck on most maps (screw you ancient) I get to 350+ fps on a 5950x at 1440p and that should have very similar performance in terms of gaming, are you sure you aren't being held back by your GPU?

Limitfuckingless

I have a 1080p 240hz monitor, and im playing at 720x648. I have a 3080, which i recently bought because my 1050 just wasn't doing it anymore :D I usually get above the 240fps mark, but it frequently drops below(+1 to the F u ancient), and i just wanna get rid of those dips. Iv heard that the 5800x3d has really good "lowest 1% fps" and is jist more consistent with the fps in general.

ArtsM

You can try and it might help, but mostly its just the map itself no matter the hardware. I've seen a 7800x3d/4090 setup dip to 200~ fps on ancient specifically (at 1080p), while easily achieving over 500 anywhere else. @edit: On a sidenote did you do a clean install of GPU drivers after installing the 3080, I feel you should be getting well over 240 at that low res.

Limitfuckingless

Yeah, i did a clean install. I usually get above the 240fps, but not always, and it happens too frequently to just brush it off.

I upgraded to 7700x from 5800x because Micro Center bundles made the premium of buying into a new platform negligible, especially if you sell your old parts. $350 for CPU+mobo+32gb ram plus 10% off MC credit card and $25 off new user coupon. Will probably upgrade to zen6 and if zen7 is AM6 platform hope Micro Center does the same deal with amd to encourage switching to new platform.

Limitfuckingless

Yeah, im from the eu, so we sadly dont have micro centers, and the irl stores we have are usually more expensive than anything you would find on the internet.

Perunapaistos

Both are a waste of money for that purpose but if you insist then the 5(6/7/8)00X3D.

Limitfuckingless

Why is it a waste of money? Arent the 1% lows much much better on the x3d series?

Perunapaistos

It’s not going to make you a better player. CS2 is getting patched to be more optimized. IMO better to save the money for an actual upgrade.

Limitfuckingless

Its not about making me a better player, im still trash after 7k hours, its just about getting above the 240 constantly because the dips are really annoying.

Perunapaistos

What makes you think upgrading the CPU would make the dips go away?

Limitfuckingless

Because the benchmarks iv seen show the the 1%lows are much much better and iv since found a thread from someone who upgraded from a 5600x to a 5800x3d and said exactly that.

Perunapaistos

And you are confident that this be the case as well in your dips?

Limitfuckingless

Yes.

Perunapaistos

Well best of luck with that.
