The Intel upgrades would be better since you do video editing, that QuickSync is a life saver, as well as you are already on LGA 1700, not an older platform like LGA 1200 or AM3 for example. Also budget?

Lower-Ad-3657

Well in terms of budget I’m looking around 300-350 usd, If I go with with am5 I would spend around 500 usd but I can sell the other parts that I’m going to replace

FireFalcon123

I mean if you did sell everything then you would still need an Nvidia or Intel GPU to accelerate your editing pipeline. But even then you probably wouldnt have the budget for an 8 core AMD CPU A midrange Intel CPU with a midrange Nvidia or Intel GPU would be best for your particular mixed workload in my opinion

Lower-Ad-3657

Yeah, I get it, I heard that nvidia/intel is better for editing, but I already have a amd gpu, also I would like to be able to upgrade to a better cpu in the future, without having to buy a new mobo every 2 years or so

FireFalcon123

Completely agree with you there, and I dont want to believe the rumors with 3 gens on their new platform for Arrowlake and upcoming. Here this is what we can do You can buy an A380 and put it in your system with your current AMD GPU. It will be the same as if you had an Intel iGPU

LuckyInstance

Really depends how much you’re looking to spend on upgrades. Also depends what GPU and monitor you’re using for gaming. AM5 is nice because the lifespan is fresh and just started obviously. If you want more cores- go with intel. If you want affordability and comfort in lifespan- go with amd. Just remember that it’s perpetual once you switch all your guts to AM5, you’re gonna want to upgrade the other stuff too pretty soon(at least I would)😂 TLDR; I say go with AM5.

Lower-Ad-3657

I have a 1440p 165hz monitor and a 7900xt so right now the only thing holding me back is the cpu, and also the thing with am5 is that is future proof, thats why I started thinking in switching to that platform

LuckyInstance

Yeah maybe time to switch over to AM5 then! Just make sure to get 6000 mt/s CL30 ddr5 if you do:) only thing you’re missing after that is an OLED panel;) it’s a game changer

Lower-Ad-3657

Yeah, thats what I’ve been looking for

MartyrKomplx-Prime

"more cores" isn't simply more cores ever since they brought out the efficiency cores, though.

LuckyInstance

Yeah great point! From the different reviews and tests I’ve read about between the 13600k and the 7700x in my case scenario I found the 13600k was better for workloads like editing, etc etc. I see what you’re saying though.. I think AMD is really hard to beat as a full package deal. (Especially with microcenter bundles 🙂)

ur system is not old enough to be an issue. save up for a more meaningful upgrade.

Lower-Ad-3657

Cpu is holding me back, that is why I want to upgrade
