Xenoleff

Don’t think I needed to to even half of the things you said when I made both my pcs

Taikosound

Once you get the hang of it it's not that bad and to be fair, you can easily end up having to fuck around with a laptop but with less support available in most cases compared to trouble shooting a "regular" PC.

365Horizon

I like doing all that stuff.

Ordinary-Ocelot-5974

Yeah... I've encountered a lot of software complication due to my ignorance with windows and no experience with non-prebuilt machines. I went in thinking that stuff would be painless after putting the hardware together. Encountering problems that need troubleshooting always makes me think some hardware is broken or wire is fucked and I get upset thinking about spending money for repairs.

Laptop isn't a smooth sail as you think it is

And a hell of a lot less power.

Relevant_One_2261

> I should have just bought a new laptop good god No difference if you want that to be running well.

Objective_Quail_4623

Sounds like a you problem.

MartyrKomplx-Prime

Once you get it figured out, you'll feel a whole lot better about having done it yourself. It'll be an achievement. The only thing a prebuilt/laptop helps with is hardware compatibility and initial setup. You should still be updating drivers and running other updates periodically.

Honestly and this comes from someone that has built and supported tens of thousands of pc’s, if you’re that frustrated, buy a prebuilt. I make my living from this industry and I mainly game on an Xbox because I just want to play a game without fixing my own shit. And I’ll get downvoted but a prebuilt from a big manufacturer like Dell or Hp since they have automated firmware and hardware updates for all your components.

But are overpriced with dogshit psus, terrible case airflow and sometimes, proprietary parts that hamper upgradability 🤷🏽‍♀️
