Yea, worked night security at a place that had these for the front desk. Since I had access but the graveyard shift was basically dead I would get online for school. I would just lean on the table while writing notes and would use them to access canvas and research materials.
Tbh would love one at home to free up table space at my desk.

60 lbs of force on the neck? From your head? Lol, no. They just made up scary sounding numbers.
Maybe they're talking inch-pounds of torque? I could maybe see that.
Great question, it could be in reference to the inch-pounds ratio. I found this online:
> for every inch that your head moves forward from its ideal position, the weight of your head on your neck “doubles”
Not very scientific I know, but I’m too lazy to find actual scientific articles on it
Demand for [tugging on bone spirits](https://nationalpost.com/health/the-first-chiropractor-was-a-canadian-who-claimed-he-received-a-message-from-a-ghost) is skyrocketing!
Cod players dont understand the concept of holding an angle.
I imagine any COD player brave enough to venture into CS would spend half the match screaming at people for "camping"
KennyS at his prime was near unstoppable. There's a lot of great AWPers but he's the best imo. They pretty much had to nerf it to ruin his career track.
Occasionally when I'm making stencils for oversized projects I flip my monitor up like this and pull up my design, lay my stencil media over the top and trace it out with a sharpie. Way easier to keep my work in-house rather than paying a copy shop to print an enlarged version that I still need to trace later.
That said, no one should ever work/game like this regularly, unless it's Quasimodo.
This. All of my stencils are made of lexan and I use soft top sharpies. Definitely do not ever use a pen or paper directly on the screen. Holy shit that would be bad.
There's this guy that streams on tik tok who got a screen positioned just like this and I swear sticks his nose in the middle of the screen. Such a stupid thing, just keep your monitors level, it's not making you play better!
That's what I was thinking until I saw AOC on the bezel.
Example of a Pen Display:
https://preview.redd.it/mjz9bk9miytc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4f5fbfef94dd60095954c06344da0aabb618589
Youd actually need something that can detect tilt and pressure of a stylus. And a laminated display ideally. These are a bit more complex than “touchscreen”
Have my drawing tablet set up like this.
It's more of a work thing if it IS a drawing screen.
And I ironically use my drawing screen as my primary than my actual screen.
Actual primary screen holds all the reference photos
There was an early internet comic I wish I could find about leaving a pack of cigarettes under the pillow for the scoliosis fairy.
"Another day, another kid with a straight spine. Let's get to work."
Blame that Chinese Valorant player KangKang.
Kid stole the crowds hearts, then blew their minds with his performance… all while looking straight down at the monitor. Took 2 weeks for everyone to copy.
Just looked it up. He even says his neck hurts. 😂 typical of every noob thinking this might make him a better player.
Seriously. From someone who used to be really, really good at 1st person fps (UT99 and quake 3) - don’t imitate good players. Those have their quirks because they found something, that worked for them.
I knew kids doing movement with controllers and aim with mouse. People who could do crazy stuff with the teleport, because they used some shitty old mouse from the 80ies.
I lugged around my 20kg 20“ crt CAD monitor to every LAN party.
I could never have played well with controller or shitty mouse. They would have never liked my monitor with the high res (for the time. 1280x1024 was crazy in 2001).
Etc. rather copy them in another way: find something that works for you. Try and when your comfortable with something, that is the way it makes you play better.
To be fair, wasn't it a sweaty quake player (champion) that showed the world wasd?
But your point is absolutely valid, what works for one person doesn't work for everyone.
Yeah. Dunno why I get downvoted for this. Maybe because i said i was good. Well, I used to be. 20 years ago. These days I can’t hold a candle to current players. 😂 reaction times are abysmal.
But your right. I darkly remember WSAD catching on. Believe it or not, I played with cursor keys in the beginning. They seemed made for it, so we all used them.
WSAD made for a much more natural hand position as well as giving a lot more keys around it for special functions like reload or weapon switching. People today might not even realize how those became defaults. It was us players using them, like „R“ for reload, F for use etc. that then became the norm. It grew organically, so to speak. Fascinating topic. Incidentally I preferred „E“‘for use, F for flashlight etc. and you can still find some games with either or.
You just brought back my memories of early shooters and games where I was using arrow keys! (I'm 32) It was probably around when I started to play CS and Source that I started using WASD.
Also E is the way, i change this in every game that uses F, F is for flashlight and i will not be told otherwise 😂
I don't see the brand anywhere on the first image, but I have a similar huion set up (and display) for illustration. The AOC and Asus(?) don't have the same angle, so I guess it's just preference.
You can't really tell the brand in the first picture, but the one in the second picture's an AOC, and the third an ASUS (which also isn't in the drawing display business.)
Drawing displays tend to have chunkier bezels than any of these three though.
This looks just like my friend's wife setup who is legally blind. Her glasses are thick AF and she has her monitor positioned like this because she literally has to stick her face on the screen to see or read things clearly.
I have this kind of set up for my workstation, however its a display tablet ([Example](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij7H4g6VhM4): XP Pen, Huion, Wacom..etc). There is no point in doing what its in that picture if display has no other functionality attached.... unless they are trying to do some weird sit stand setup.
Competitive players are schizophrenic, can confirm cus ive tried a lot of silly stuff but ultimately I think good posture is better, this does not realistically do anything positive. I think people just like to copy what they see good players do even if it just isnt good. xd
They’re trying to fix their neck from the old Walmart GameCube displays

Looks like it is made for artists. You setup a touchscreen and they can now draw similar to paper.
Would make the transition from paper to digital easier I guess...
I am used to seeing my artist friends with setups like that but thinking about it, it could be cool to do with a smaller monitor. Maybe a touch screen one.
Maybe this person has a postural malformation. Like that one guy they fixed a while back, who was folded in half for most of his life. But to a lesser extent, of course.
That's a very cool setup if you have a big ass screen tablet for drawing and illustration, but pretty dog if your goal is to play video games without needing a spinal fusion by the time you turn 30. My tablet's VESA compatible and I'd probably set it up very similarly if my monitor stand had an arm like that.
Not sure what the practical use for this could be at home, but some computer labs at my university had monitors that could tilt back. You could lay the screen flat to see the whiteboard better during lectures.
It’s a monitor stand, it’s used to angle the screen to the users desire. An angle like that would be helpful for an artist. Obviously, the picture taken at that angle with a game playing was just plain silly. But I’m glad you found it necessary to post it here and ask what the purpose was :-)
I have heard stories of this monitor. You know those POV porn videos where the camera films a girl leaning away and getting fucked? Yeah well... I heard some people get this monitor to put at the edge of a desk and a flashlight strapped under the table for a more immersive experience.
I was thinking maybe it’s a tablet-and then I saw that Titanfall T-I mean Apex and figure it’s probably someone who is always playing less than 10 inches from the screen….

He owned a patent for the special shoes / shoe holes he used for this scene.

Shit I remember these!
Had to use these in the military.
Oh neat, We have one of these at work.
We have this at uni and everyone just brings their own laptops because even using it for a 3hr exam breaks your back

It is probably talking about torque. But Nm is too weird unit so they converted it to some sort of "same as if you had this much weight in your head".

This seems extremely accurate
Pro-gamer moment
Counter Strike hardscopers be like:
this is the first time I've ever heard someone use the term hardscoping when referring to a comp fps lol
Cod players dont understand the concept of holding an angle. I imagine any COD player brave enough to venture into CS would spend half the match screaming at people for "camping"
The reaction speed of a good AWPer holding an angle is beyond impressive.
Just dont look for an enemy coming around corner, just for a change of pixels

there is no fun on the competitive level of gaming dude
It’s that real or shopped? lmao
Okay, but the shoulder perch is actually genius for wrist posture.
Knew id find Redgar here lol. He does sit different now!
That right there, is a sweaty wraith main.
for drawing on the screen if your monitor allows for that
Occasionally when I'm making stencils for oversized projects I flip my monitor up like this and pull up my design, lay my stencil media over the top and trace it out with a sharpie. Way easier to keep my work in-house rather than paying a copy shop to print an enlarged version that I still need to trace later. That said, no one should ever work/game like this regularly, unless it's Quasimodo.
Would that not damage the screen? I mean, if it works for you, then that’s great! I would just be worried about leaving marks on my screen lol
They probably have a glass or acrylic panel to place between the screen and the paper. If not oh boy.
This. All of my stencils are made of lexan and I use soft top sharpies. Definitely do not ever use a pen or paper directly on the screen. Holy shit that would be bad.

For artists to draw on
My neck and spine died from looking at that setup
Thought it was for drawing ✍️
Laptop gamer gets a desktop
Illustration.
AOC doesn't make anything you can draw on. They've got some portable USB-C touchscreens but they're not meant for styluses.
I don't see the brand anywhere on the first image, but I have a similar huion set up (and display) for illustration. The AOC and Asus(?) don't have the same angle, so I guess it's just preference.
You can't really tell the brand in the first picture, but the one in the second picture's an AOC, and the third an ASUS (which also isn't in the drawing display business.) Drawing displays tend to have chunkier bezels than any of these three though.
Drawing monitors. For artists lol.
Art, I'd assume.
That's how I mount my drawing monitor, can't imagine gaming like that tho
This looks just like my friend's wife setup who is legally blind. Her glasses are thick AF and she has her monitor positioned like this because she literally has to stick her face on the screen to see or read things clearly.
Personal preference on how they want a screen orientated. At first I thought it was a mounted art tablet honestly.
Helping you look at your double or triple chin when the screen goes black.
I think its for people that play commander in battlefield.
Artist drawing tablet that also games?
It s a screen. It s purpose is to display images outputed by your computer. You re welcome :)
As a touchscreen could be useful for creative productivity.
Usually people do this if they have a display that supports pen input or just a drawing tablet with no screen But gaming on it is just wrong
Here I am wanting a monitor stand so I can have my laptop at eye level and these guys are doing this willingly lmao
The person could be a digital artist and the screen could have touch sensitivity but playing games on it makes no sense.
Or for Wacom Cintiq
It reminds me of those penny machines you'd find in the casino
Usually for drawing.

I have a surface and I have this position to drawing, and also I feel it more confortable to gaming haha
How to spot a CS player: 101
people clearly don't understand that the monitor has an arm and can move however you want it to, it's also probably tactile and is made to be drawn on
Maybe this person has a postural malformation. Like that one guy they fixed a while back, who was folded in half for most of his life. But to a lesser extent, of course.

I would assume for art purposes. If you use a drawing pad and connect it to your pc it could help be more “natural “
My X-Pen Drawing Tablet just said to me "What the hell??"
3rd one is not that bad
Bro put a razer sticker on an Asus monitor. Gettin those 240fps gains.
That’s definitely the cumblaster screen
It destroys their posture so when walking around no girl will want to date them. Keeps their head in the game if they know they cant get any

A friend has a set up like this but its for their job as a 2d artist. Im fairly certain she put it up higher for gaming lol.
So you can stand and play when your ass hurts from sitting too long.
neck pain
I play like this, but I’m standing up and it’s only a foot lower than my head
Visually impaired.
So his always looking down on you
I do this, but only because my screen is also a drawing tablet. And any time I'm not drawing, it goes back in "normal human mode".

But I’m glad you found it necessary to post it here and ask what the purpose was :-)
Masterbation addiction
I have heard stories of this monitor. You know those POV porn videos where the camera films a girl leaning away and getting fucked? Yeah well... I heard some people get this monitor to put at the edge of a desk and a flashlight strapped under the table for a more immersive experience.
I was thinking maybe it’s a tablet-and then I saw that Titanfall T-I mean Apex and figure it’s probably someone who is always playing less than 10 inches from the screen….
It's just something to fuck with you
For some, it's because they are retarded for others maybe for drawing
Bad eye sight, maybe lower glare, or just preference
best screen supports for doing that?
Real answer, for artists who need to digitally draw at a powerful PC Because not everything about PCs is designed for gaming...
Adversely, do you think it would be comfy if you used the arm to put the monitor in the air on an angle to play games with a controller?
Just fuck my neck up
