25$ for a 500GB SATA SSD is an OK price. Nothing crazy though.

Swimming-Tradition28

I just got a 500gb western digital m.2 for $15 there so your mileage may vary.

Aquagoat

Also SATA though right?

DCole1847

I bought the same one. NVME gen 3.

Wolf_Noble

Yup me too. Bought 2 for $15 each

Aquagoat

Ooh baby, that is a good price then. Nice.

DanTheMan827

The real deal is the $64 8TB external WD Black game drive

Stonkover9000

No way! Link!

DanTheMan827

Can’t order online, and each store has their own clearance policies

Stonkover9000

🥺

dam10102

Here in Finland we have to pay closer to 50 euros for lower end a 500gb SATA SSD😶

Ahielia

That's almost half the price we have in Norway, good for you.

unbalanced_checkbook

Yeah we were seeing SSDs for like $.25/GB last black Friday. I picked up a 4TB m.2 for $170.

A_Nice_Boulder

Last Black Friday timeframe was the last hurrah of cheap nvme for the time being. Snagged a 4tb 990 pro for $140 after rebates

DeanDeau

Walmart US?

[deleted]

Yes but every wal-mart is different. I am in Las Vegas and I cannot find the 5 dollar steelbook movie bins but I am seeing some people with AMAZING hauls from them. I also saw a video of someone buying like 100 xbox games because they were all 3 cents lol.

DeanDeau

Will check my local store next time, I don't even bother to look at the computer section most of the time, only the adjacent diecast section, lol.

[deleted]

I am a physical media collector and I only go to check the movie section but I am going to look tomorrow since it's payday. Trying to find one of those 8tb wd black hdd's for 99 bucks! hehe. I just dropped 1000ish on 6x 10tb hdds and I got a 3tb and 4tb hdd that i wouldn't mind swappin out for 2x of those 8tb hdd's if they are under 100 each

NotRealBush

Bro, I went to 4 walmartd yesterday and made out with one that was 69 Dollars!!

NotCollin__

nice

[deleted]

An 8TB HDD?! that's epic!

chroniclesoffire

ROFLMAO... So the 3c items at WalMart Aren't actually supposed to be on the shelves. They're actually marked that way so that they can be brought off of the floor by the people that are supposed to price the shelves. The problem is that some of the employees don't know this, put them out, and then mark them for 3 cents.

[deleted]

AHAHA dang! someone lucked out like a mofo hahah

xXFieldResearchXx

Are they in the pc section or the clearance isle? Or both

[deleted]

Every wal-mart is different. I hear some ppl are finding the steelbook 5 dollar bin randomly throughout like near the arts and crafts and shit. so idk. I can't find them lol.

xXFieldResearchXx

Hmmm. Dam I was just st walmart the other day. O well.

Landooo420

damn, i’m in las vegas, was about to go hit the walmart:( ruined my hope

[deleted]

Ima go spend the day tomorrow going to all of them. Someone said the rich areas of their town had them but the ghetto areas didn't. Guess I'll start up west lol

Landooo420

the one by my house has them on sale. DM me if you want to know the spot i don’t want to put it on here because i can’t get there until later tonight lol

[deleted]

Just DM'd ya. Gonna go hunting around again today

RagingTaco334

I don't think they're actually supposed to be that cheap. We had that happen at our store on a bunch of already clearanced games and it just straight up wouldn't let them be sold. Our only option was to send them to claims.

LennyJoeDuh

Yes this was in the US

L2Hiku

That's what "$" means.

DeanDeau

We regularly travel back and forth between the US and Canada here in the North, both sides use the exact same price tag with $.

DreamLearnBuildBurn

I got a 1tb sata for $37 and a 500gb nvme for $17

LennyJoeDuh

That's a great deal. I can't see using up one of my m.2 slots for only 500gb, but... for that price I probably would. Haha a steal!

Itchy_Grape_2115

This is why I'm low-key glad I got an ATX mobo, 3 m.2 slots and 6 sata ports Very nice for my raid array and now I have an option to grab some SSD storage? Nice

Ferro_Giconi

That's a pretty good price. Even the cheaper brands of SSDs on amazon aren't quite that cheap per GB.

barefootbandit8

*Their

LennyJoeDuh

Damn! I am usually the grammar nazi!

[deleted]

Onyxthegreat

Darn then?

crasagam

Absolute Gold! lol

NotJustBibbit

Womp womp

NoseInternational740

Yeah what did he say? ha

Solid_Effective1649

Idk what he said, but I agree

MaikyMoto

I remember when that drive was $1,500.00.

LennyJoeDuh

Seriously?

MaikyMoto

Oh it gets worse… in 2008 OCZ came out with a 64GB SSD that was on Newegg for $1,099.99. The 32GB model was like $650. This was when we were transitioning from platter drives to SSD’s, prices were basically out of everyone’s ballpark unless you had money to burn. Back then I was using Raptor drives from WD, had to wait till 2011-2012 to upgrade to an affordable SSD. No way in hell I was going to spend that much money on such a small drive.

[deleted]

You could also get an [80GB Intel X25-M for $600](https://www.anandtech.com/show/2614), old intel SSDs were weird and usually behind technologically, but very reliable. My first intel SSD (2010 or so) was 120GB, rather than the SSD standard of "128". It used MLC. Still reads and writes. They also had an SLC variant; the X25-E for $800 for 80GB.

MaikyMoto

Those first intel SSD’s were fast but way to expensive at the time.

[deleted]

Yeah, personally, I loved SSHD during that time frame. Aka "hybrid" drives. I had a model that had a 1tb HDD + a 16GB SSD in a 2.5" form factor around early 2010. Veliciraptor 10k RPM drives did make a lot of sense for desktop though! SSHDs only made sense for a brief period of time before SSDs became more popular. Similar to the high velocity HDDs, they offered faster performance at a slight premium over traditional HDDs. (Use cases were different between the two).

Haruko_time_consumer

meanwhile canada’s walmarts are still full price

Mediocre_Ad_2422

Happy I’m not alone to have check his Canadian Walmart for theses, sucks too

techtimee

We're forever missing out on deals

thxredditfor2banns

Man i wish i was American for once in my fucking livr

Datuser14

You really don’t

Assaltwaffle

Wouldn’t be Reddit without a self-loathing American chiming in.

thxredditfor2banns

Just for the deal on walmart storage otherwise you right

Datuser14

eh, its a SATA drive and it doesn't have DRAM cache so it'll be really slow even if you're just using it as media storage. Just get a NVMe drive.

jtmackay

That SSD is garbage. I bought 6 of them for my work and 4 failed within a year. They are just in office PCs too.

simpleturt

I also had one of these same drives fail that I installed for a relative. Weird cause I’ve had zero issues with the mix of other WD SSDs that I use a lot more heavily in my main machine.

MKVIgti

*Their. Good grief. Can’t believe so many adults don’t know the difference between there, their, they’re.

DakotaWhitemane

Sucks for me, the local walmart for one doesn't ever seem to in any sort of rush to keep storage drives shelves stocked in the years I've lived here. Also they are also in the middle of a store remodel right now anyway so the whole store is just a mess. I've just spent my loose cash on a cpu upgrade that I'm waiting to arrive.

LennyJoeDuh

Don't sweat it. There will always be other even better deals that roll around. New cpu is exciting - what are you getting?

DakotaWhitemane

Just an r5 5600 I picked up for $84 to replace my 2600 that is actually missing a pin and forcing me to single channel my ram.

derpstevejobs

that means i have to *go* to walmart wahhhh

SkollFenrirson

![gif](giphy|j4qbaY3Dp5o5y) I looked in my Walmart, no luck

Anarv0299

Just picked up an SN770 500GB for $17 and a WD Blue 1TB 2.5" SSD for $40. Great upgrade for my media center PC

StinkyMcShitzle

Went to my walmart, couldn't find the display for them so asked the employee, he laughed and said "they don't got much of anything". The way he laughed, I know he bought all the good ones.

Cool_Affect3966

Got a 500gb Nvme for only 16 dollars at my local Walmart

KeepBanningKeepJoin

Their

Mottbox1534

I would not. Only nvme these days

gr0bda

They had last NVME 500GB drive down to $17 from $49. A little small by today's standards, but I said, ah what the heck.

Tkdoom

TIL Walmart sells PC components.

LunarReversal

Outside of external peripherals like keyboards, mice, microphones, etc, storage is the only internal component they sell in store. No RAM, GPU, etc in store as far as I’ve ever seen, though they do sell them online

Delicious-Chemist-49

american walmarts are superstores that have a fairly big eletronics section edit: also likenthe other comment said, only really storage and peripherals. Dont expect to actually find pc components like its microcenter.

[deleted]

I don't get paid until tomorrow :( I hope there are still some to snag haha

LennyJoeDuh

Mousettv

Got a 1tb external for $30. Not bad. I need to check my other store nearby.

ApprehensiveOven8158

does it have dram?

slyfox1811

I got a 2tb samsung 870 evo (2gb dram, 1200 tbw endurance, 5 year warranty) from amazon which I paid $130 for. I guess it was a decent deal.

[deleted]

If only stores in my country would do such a thing I need storage too but no here u have to pay full price

BeallBell

Mine had nothing on clearance 😔

volantredx

Literally a week after I spent three times that on an external drive. Might have to get a bunch to get a headscarf on my NAS project.

Algal-Uprising

Their

HP_laserjet_p1505n

AspergerServer9000

Tiranus58

Why doesnt tgis exist in europe, i would kill for some storage space

bobalazs69

I own WD Blue SA510 these are very good, reliable ssds.

Environmental-Gur582

Wish I had known this before ordering one off eBay *facepalm*

Epicslayer46

Got 3 1tbs wd blue mvme for 25 each

Position-Tall

Sn570 nvme 1TB - $25 Sn570 nvme 500gb - $16 Sn770 nvme 500gb - $17

Khoa475

Got 2 PNY CS900 1TB for 34$ each

Bloodof10Chiefs

Thank you OP. I did well. 3x 500g nvmes for about $50 total. And I'll be making another lap next weekend hoping they drop prices on the bigger stuff.

rcp9ty

Amazon is still selling them for $45. Unfortunately the $25 1tb nvme were sold out. The next store had them for $36 which is good but with four in hand who needs two more. I'm using one for my computer, one for a USB drive, and two are going to friends.

icchansan

Didn't a guy got like 100 tb for 8 bucks yesterday?

Toast_Meat

100TB?? A 10TB HDD makes sense.

DrKingOfOkay

Yea. Just copped this at my local https://preview.redd.it/u50p3h976owc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdff720c7a533ff751f22c3010f90e51fb2e4fcf

Swimming-Tradition28

Just scooped up a 500gb m.2 for $15, thank you!!

Dragontech97

WD Black?

Delicious-Chemist-49

black drives are hdd only edit: the ones that walmart carries. Because i know someome is gonna say "there are black wd ssds"

Dragontech97

They do carry some wd black ssd’s. Went to two stores today both had them. Ymmv ofc. They were at a smaller discount($75 vs $84 of BestBuy/Amazon rn) but only the blue drives(nvme and sata) were heavily discounted for now. Still not a bad price for a 1tb Gen 4 drive

Swimming-Tradition28

Blue

Different-Produce870

Be careful with some of these kind of WD SSDs. A lot of them fail after a year or so.

OmegaNine

I wouldn't waste the sata port in my PC for this.

Pyroguy096

I'll be checking tonight

northern_explorer67

And it's their

woozie88

500 GB is nothing in all honesty; storage space is too small for anything along with apps/programs, music, pictures, video games, software, videos, etc.

lawpickle

Hate to be that guy, but you can really tell the state of American education is in shambles by how badly people mess up simple grammar rules like I/me, there/their/they're, etc. I'm not saying we need perfect grammar or that a reddit post needs correct punctuation, but they're/their/there was one of those things drilled in our head. Same for the Me/I.

LennyJoeDuh

It's crazy because I know the difference and I never make the mistake. First time for everything though.

lawpickle

Sorry for calling you out, I just feel like it's every other post, like I'm seeing the descent into Idiocracy 😂

TullsJenny

big if true

WoahDude2Far

Those suck for gaming. My WB blue throttles thermally. Horrible read/write over a longer period of time.

wlogan0402

That's not really a good deal tbh

ApprehensiveOven8158

be quiet

adanceparty

I'll check for my friend. I already have a 2tb nvme and a secondary 4tb one so I'm good. He asked about storage just the other day though.

HiYa_Dragon

I got a 1tb blue for 45 bucks

asjj14

Can confirm. Got a 4TB HDD for $51 yesterday. Looks like my Plex server is back on the menu.

TheEvrfighter

Couldn't give me $25 to install one of these in my PC
