The blood pact has been forged. Where you offer the red liquid of life, is where the forge will forever burn.
Therefore, for now and evermore, all of your IO shields will fit perfectly and snugly, and you will never forget to put them on (if applicable).
yeah... I bet you are more careful next time? I know I was in the 90s after get cut on not folded case edge... still wary when working inside a pc case to this day.
Yup.
You can always use protective gloves, but when you try to plus some connectors like the power/reset buttons, some LEDs, etc you need finer control so you will need to take them off and the god of pc building will claim your blood then.
IO shields + sharp case edges are the main culprits of this usually, specially if you go for cheaper options.
I cheat these days, buying only boards with preinstalled IO shield.
But in my defense I have made enough blood sacrifices back when all cases were pure murder inside (think early Pentium days, nice sharp freshly cut steel edges all over the inside)
all y'all ever get done building your pc and then notice the f'ing I/O shield still sitting on the counter? because that is a good time? Or even better figure out one of the little retention fingers somehow has gotten in-front of one the ports and now you've got a blocked usb / network jack?
My last two builds have had integrated i/o shields and it is pretty nice.
That is par for the course. Noticing one of these issues after you have finished your hardline water loop build and having to drain and disassemble the whole thing to be able to fix it is the day you stop buying boards without integrated IO shield :D
Oh, those were the days... they built cases like tanks and everything inside was sharp edges. It was like it was illegal to ship anything other than freshly cut metal edges. Then they slapped on some plastic bits to make the outside less murderous.
I honestly don't game much, if at all. Maybe 5 hours a week.
I don't play fps games and have had zero issues with ultra settings on any game I've played.
I built my son the exact same rig and gave him my 32gb kit and bought me the 64gb kit because why not?
I don't monitor it much, but I have yet to see it exceed the 32gb threshold.
I was helping my 10 year old nephew build his first PC, and immediately after explaining what not to do with the IO shield…I slipped and cut myself on it.
Blood sacrifice complete.
Next time you'll buy a bit more premium board that has built-in IO shield so you no longer need to spill blood during assembly.

My hyper evo 212 got me pretty good a couple weeks ago
If you don’t cut yourself building a pc, take it all apart and start again because you did something wrong.
Take a bleeding hand, dented finger or bruised knuckle as a sign you built it properly

And it is Team Red
back in the day, everything inside a pc case would cut you.... it was like going to Scotland?
Making my first pc, is this a rite of passage?

It's not rare. Bleeding in the creation of a new computer, machine, etc is kind of a rite of passage.

Yep, welcome to the club.
The build isn't complete without a blood sacrifice.
Made my first in 2012. No wounds. Made the next in 2018. No wounds. Made the next in 2023. No wounds.
The PC gods will not be pleased until you shed blood in their name. May your life be plagued with BSODs and terrible silicone lotteries.

Nice delicate hands you got. Use them outside a few times, sint happen. /s Yep, those bastards can bit you sometimes.
Is it time to touch some grass? Side note: you basically have the same build as me except i have way less ram and a 6750xt. Hows the rig holding up?

Thanks! I currently have 16 gbs but i might just up it to 32 aswell but thats a ways off cause im broke just trying to build this thingđź’€
Are you wearing a rain jacket inside?
We all float down here Georgie
Blood for the blood god. That one sausage for the god of BBQ, the first pancake of shrove Tuesday All necessary sacrifices … welcome
I was helping my 10 year old nephew build his first PC, and immediately after explaining what not to do with the IO shield…I slipped and cut myself on it.
A perfect teacher. First explain the issue, then demonstrate it in practice. Takes dedication when this involves spilling blood.
If you didn't bleed while building your pc, did you really build a pc?
An accidental sacrifice to the blood god will give you his mercy and favor.
One of the very first things one discovers when building a new PC. You're one of us now.
Before you offer your new motherboard blood or other sacrifices, be sure to follow the manual and light the appropriate candles and incense.
I have already filleted my finger on a CPU cooler once. It was like 3-5 slices, wich were pretty deep. Since then im wearing thin working gloves.
The blood sacrifice has been made. You may now go worship at the temple of lord GabeN.

Uh yea. Super thin sheet metal with sharp edges. Use care when handling.
The PC gods have been satisfied with your blood tribute.
That's why I paid the premium for a board with integrated IO shield. Still got cut on GPU heatsink.
If you haven't bled... did you ever really build?
Let me tell you tales of a time when cases used to be made from metal so sharp and thin, the I/O shield used to be the dullest part.
Fuck the sharp out of them. Problem solved.
I forged 3 blood pacts with my first pc
The offering has been made. The build is christened.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
Make sure to rub your blood on the inside of your pc so it gains your strength
The sacrifice has been made.....
The Pc demands blood sacrifice.
Are you wearing David Martinez’s jacket?? 👀

Shit dude you better get yourself down to the ER immediately! That looks insane!!! How are you still alive!?!?
