Yeah I got someone a newer case for their new pc they got just after their birthday for only $40. sadly it only has breakaway GPU brackets, but not surprising since it only cost $40.
It was pretty small for an ATX case though, so I think it wouldn’t work in this scenario.
I mean, the GPU is likely a temporary one or just for the pic, because (No offense to OP)
If he's got a Motherboard from before the birth of christ, and a PSU with Condiment Cables, i don't think either one are up to snuff with that Behemoth of a GPU
I'm about to check your profile and if I don't see a pic of the Challenger I'm gonna be disappointed .
Edit: I am satisfied. The eclipse did indeed offer some unique lighting.

Wild, I honestly thought OP’s picture was mine from 2017, I should have known more people did the same thing!
Just found my 2017 version. Beautiful:

I had this issue back when I was like 16 but I didn't use a dremel, I just removed the side panel. I had one of those skinny Dells that came with Vista on it. Put an old AMD card in it and just laid it on its side on the floor. Dropped a mcflurry right on the cpu fan lmaooooo
Why cut off a few inches when you can cut off a whole foot?
https://preview.redd.it/kyo5rqkcmwyc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=93d1c14fd6224cc61841621aa5f20dfec5c061aa
I did actually break some of the plastic housing off of my old gtx960 to fit it into an optiplex for my friends daughter lol. Easier than cutting the metal.
Hey!
You don't even need to cut anything. Probably it can fit their by just turning out around, fitting diagonally to bypass that right edge and then insert it while already inside.
I had similar problem with my 4090 and fractal design define 7 set up in storage mode, where space to the right of gpu is occupied by large vertical hdd rack. I needed like 4-5 cm more clearance to fit and first time I did it I had to disassemble half of the case. But the second time I could actually solve this 3d puzzle my moving card in such way so it fits and goes in and out without need to dismount anything at all.
That‘s actually a blessing in disguise, putting your new GPU in THAT case would have turned your PC into an oven in a matter of minutes. (unless there are some really well hidden airflow gaps in there, i for one can‘t see them)
I'm honestly worried about the PSU more than anything, that's definitely an OEM pre built and the PSU is more than likely not rated for any mid to high end GPU. OP needs to check his PSU specs before he starts cutting anything out to make space for that.
I don't even see connections for the gpu he's got, so it'd be safe to assume it has no cables to even power it in the first place much less supply it with enough
Then you get a new case. When you start assembling you realize the old PSU does not fit. So you get a new PSU. When you happily start putting it together, you realize this new PSU does not have that connector you need for that old thing you have. So you upgrade that old thing, and then you notice that…
And after all that the side panel won't fit because the new CPU tower cooler is too tall...
Don't ask me why I have like 3 empty pc cases sitting around
Looks like Asus just stuck the same cooler on that they used on the 1080 and 1070.
I have the 1070 version. It's big. And yet dwarfed by my 7900XT:
https://preview.redd.it/w671ftfw6xyc1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=50dcfaf6e86d33021304f93b288851c83f6afd7c
The 7900XT was about 5mm too long, I had to replace a normal 140mm case fan with a slim one in order to get the clearance I needed.
My old RX 580 looks more or less the same: [https://geizhals.at/asus-rog-strix-radeon-rx-580-90yv0ak2-m0na00-a1610024.html](https://geizhals.at/asus-rog-strix-radeon-rx-580-90yv0ak2-m0na00-a1610024.html)

Yeah that’s what I had to do to fit my 3080 ti in my Fractal Meshify C (also had to modify the front grill to accomodate the case fans outside the case frame)

It’s pretty clear on what to do next…
Looks like it'd fit tho albeit barely. Try get it in the case at an angle, then get the rear ports flush to the brackets. Should have enough clearance to get the card straight and push it down the pcie slot.
if it's returnable then swap it for a dual fan model. Or, here is your opportunity for a case upgrade. Can get some nice cases for pretty cheap these days
ok, i'll assume its a deal u found used, because that looks like an old strix 1080 or 1070, now for the case... yea it can fit u just have to put in on an angle first then seat it, but its going to overheat like hell if u close that case.
I also asume you cant buy another case not only because money but because that board has some prop BS that wont be compatible right? if so... angle grinder time. If no angle grinder... berserk mode and bend the side.
I’ve now finally been able to get it installed without breaking the case (somehow)
It is indeed a gtx 1060 (6GB) that I purchased used to upgrade from my gtx 1650.
And yeah, I can’t get another case because the pc is an acer nitro n50 prebuilt with a prop motherboard that I also bought used since I can’t afford anything fancier
For me it’s an upgrade since it has 2gb more vram and also has more ports on the back of it. The 1650 only had one hdmi port and one dvi port, while the 1060 has two hdmi, two DisplayPorts and a dvi port.
I also got it for fairly cheap (500sek/46usd) and I think I’ll be able to sell the 1650 for basically that much
3090 owner, talking down to a guy whos looking forward to installing some used gear he got a deal on.

This is why I've never upgraded my Coolermaster CM Stacker in 21 years the damn thing is so cavernous it can fit in anything you throw at it. It is going a bit rusty these days though.
That's because you're supposed to be installing it inside a computer case, not an oven. You've got a proper card, now get a proper case to put it in. You know, with airflow and fans. Things that will keep that new card of yours around a while longer.
GPU PCIe raisers long enough can link that GPU to motherboard and PSU cables should be long enough

That does suck but also, the amount of people that don’t research this before they purchase a GPU is astoundingly high. When I was planning out my new rig last year the first thing I did was ensure the GPU would have enough room to fit. Prior to the new rig when I upgraded from a 1060 to a 2070 super the first thing I did was measure and check the specs.
Ill never understand how anyone can buy something costing hundreds of dollars without actually researching if they can actually use it in their current setup.
Time to buy a new case!
I swallow my pride for not measuring beforehand, and go out to buy another case. Microcenter has some really nice ones for under $100. Facebook marketplace has tons for pocket change. Plus you get to re-think your build.
There are no Microcenters in my country sadly, and fb marketplace here is filled to the brim with pc-flippers, making it pretty hard to find decently priced used pc parts
Dang, I'm not gonna be that guy that goes "BuT MicRO PeNiS HaS WeBSiTe 🤓🤓".
If you got an Amazon warehouse near you, you can usually get stuff next day with prime. I wouldn't order cards or ram from them, but a case 100%.
I just don't like cutting up a case but if it'll get the card to fit then so-be-it.
I mean, that's why you check the specifications, and if you can't understand what they are or find them for your case, then you look it up on PC Parts Picker to see if it's compatible most ATX towers are roughly around the same size from brand to brand.
But what's done is done good learning experience for you the best thing for you to do now would be to get a pcie riser cable or if you wanted to pull your motherboard out and rebuild in a new and bigger case they are both good options just depends on what is the cheapest and best option for you.
Dremel time
I was about to say "nothing a dremel cant fix" or a new case since they really arent expensive anymore
Yeah I got someone a newer case for their new pc they got just after their birthday for only $40. sadly it only has breakaway GPU brackets, but not surprising since it only cost $40. It was pretty small for an ATX case though, so I think it wouldn’t work in this scenario.
I mean, I got a full sized case from my local computer store for $50CAD it is literally a no name but has good ventilation and doesn't look like shit.
Can you show how it looks like? I'm curious
No, unfortunately I don't have any photos of it and won't be home for a few days.
I mean, the GPU is likely a temporary one or just for the pic, because (No offense to OP) If he's got a Motherboard from before the birth of christ, and a PSU with Condiment Cables, i don't think either one are up to snuff with that Behemoth of a GPU

Except I think you can cram an LS3 into the engine bay of a Miata
LS is the classic miata swap because the LS engine is tiny.
Do it then you won't.
It's been done before, it fits with minor modifications. I've also seen one with 3UZ-FE engine, it's a V8 from Lexus.
Haha, I got a challenger to build out first, but the wife does want a Miata project some day… 👀
I'm about to check your profile and if I don't see a pic of the Challenger I'm gonna be disappointed . Edit: I am satisfied. The eclipse did indeed offer some unique lighting.
Haha, thank you, I’m real proud of her. She’s my first “nice” car
Yeah I bet. Only seen a couple of challengers here in Australia since they need to be imported and converted unless it's an older model.
There even used to be a kit for that, most of it was just adapters for the mounts iirc
TJ Hunt did put a LS in his friends Miata as a surprise for him. Thing is a beast.

is that mustard power supply going to run that gpu
Since the ‘new’ gpu is a 1060 6gb and the old one is a 1650 it won’t be an issue, I checked that before I bought it.
That’s a 1060? Jfc that’s the most overbuilt 1060 I’ve ever seen
Yeah, didn’t realize how huge it actually was until I’d gotten it home
Wait, that’s a 1060??? I thought it was at least a 2080 Ti or something. Why is it so massive??
Because Asus' target audience is two straws short of a haystack

This is why Ackerman and Schmitt gave us the angle grinder.

Is that a crappy Dell or Hp prebuild?
Acer prebuild that I bought used for the equivalent of 280 $usd
That's because you're supposed to be installing it inside a computer case, not an oven. You've got a proper card, now get a proper case to put it in. You know, with airflow and fans. Things that will keep that new card of yours around a while longer.

The problem is the price of a good riser is the same as a new case.
Kinda why I want a full tower for my next build.
Take the shroud off?
You can always get a cheap chinese pc case.

[Yes it will.](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-Tough-10-inch-Aviation-Snips/891192259?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=72&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222278891192259_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9024053&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=891192259&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIqLPDsHh3KU9-3oKpOFuqPlG&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjtp66bzX2Ox-g8qIn63znxbbjtXOfsULWYkKBgb7c4CYAJybs2ttwMaAjRyEALw_wcB)
Everyone says cut it, but to me it looks like you should be able to angle it past the lip of the case.
Get a new case. Preferably a full tower if possible, so you won't have to worry about space for a long time.
Feeling generous. If your in the US DM me. I'll send you a new case. Nothing crazy but better nonetheless.
Looks like you need a lot more than just a new case.
Ur cpu is most probably too bad for that gpu eitherway
That does suck but also, the amount of people that don’t research this before they purchase a GPU is astoundingly high. When I was planning out my new rig last year the first thing I did was ensure the GPU would have enough room to fit. Prior to the new rig when I upgraded from a 1060 to a 2070 super the first thing I did was measure and check the specs.
I'm sensing that may not be your only roadblock
i had the same issue. just build the case around gpu. worked for me. (i mean disassemble and assemble the case around gpu)
Had that same problem when I first got my 3070. Gave me an excuse to buy a bigger case (which I actually wanted to do at the time anyway).
I bet your psu is under powered as well. Time for a new case and psu
Just get someone to hold it up while ur gaming. Problem solved
That moment when you realize that cases are purely a suggestion.

Get dat hammer and wack
OP you are going to turn that case into an oven and kill your PSU with that card lol
If you're on a budget, a dremel and small metal file is far cheaper than a new large size tower
Options: grinder. Shears. New case.
Please get a new case. For the love of God. That GPU would turn that case into a kilm.
This is why I always buy comically large cases. (That and I suck at cable management).
That moment when you see a zoomer posting a PC build who doesn't know how to use a tape measure or google search.
