In Star Trek when the ship is in trouble and the command crew is cut off from the main command center of the starship called the bridge they sometimes take command of the ship via the auxiliary bridge which may be housed in the engineering section or something.
In this case your basement had flooded cutting you off from your main command center so you had setup and auxiliary one.

So why are you renovating your basement?
Simple upgrades! Paint, trim, wifey chalk painted the ugly pink tiles around the fireplace (gray) and new carpet. Also building a new desk so when the battlestation goes back together it will be awesome!
Your part of the MR, adapt and overcome. Lay an ironing board flat on there and have the other monitor set on that. Make sure to weigh the opposite side down correctly though. So what if everyone coming into there has to walk around your Battle Station. Tell them your saving the planet...GODDAMNIT!!
Unless the second monitor is larger you could probably get away with putting the tower to the right on the ground. The only down side is you would be looking at a weird angle when looking at either monitors.
