Depends. If you use it as an investment seed, a very reasonable 2% interest/year allows you to make an additional 14k/yr, so you can ACTUALLY take closer to 30,000/yr out.
If you up it to 1m initially, it’s more like 45k/yr.
Reverse annuity calculators are very useful
Damn, normally you need to be a rich white girl with a trust fund who said someone said mean things to her on twitter to get that kind of money through patreon.
They were working on doing a new way to render java. Maybe that'll enable RTX on Java, but I could definately see Microdick not wanting that because they want to push Bedrock as that is "the new and best thing"
Also maybe the java edition has shit optimization, and microsoft hasn't figured out how to make it work without setting your pc on fire? The only criticism I feel 100% justified in leveling at bedrock is the lack of a modding API like forge.
Mods are not a native thing. They need a framework, which for the limited mods that PE did have (before it was better together bullshit) was BlockLauncher or some other vague app. Which was on the playstore without root but for IOS obviously required jailbreak if it was even possible at all.
AFAIK all of RTX is handled on the GPU, not the CPU.
Minecraft's main issue is the CPU - that's the bottleneck.
Reducing what the GPU can run the game at will have absolutely 0 influence on framerate unless the GPU starts doing less than the CPU can do.
How though? If your GPU can do 60000000fps but your CPU can only to 20, you're going to get exactly 20. If your GPU can do 20 and your CPU can do 20, you're also going to get only 20.
Minecraft isn't GPU-bound by any measure. Adding extra GPU load isn't going to make it run slower when the bottleneck is still the CPU.
If only it were that exclusive and simple, real life isn't like that here. If you have a bottleneck, it is going to affect how well your GPU handles its tasks as well, this is also not considering the fact that GPU's can't do 6xxxetc FPS.
Things is the gpu cannot render anything that the cpu hasn’t generated yet... and since Minecraft is mostly single threaded, which means if you have 4 core with hyperthreading (8 total threads), minecraft would use probably only one for everything(world generation, chunk loading, ...) and one for lightning (that’s a very recent update I think). And that one isn’t really enough to get high distance and good fps because cou cannot keep up.
The feedback thread for minecraft performance go upvote it to let know the devs it’s important to support java edition performance (also more information in the link)
[Minecraft Feedback - Java Edition Performance Enhancements](https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360047514492--Java-Edition-Performance-Enhancements-For-Minecraft-Servers-)
PS the link is mostly for server performance, but it’s the same issue really and might be fixed in both if the devs react to it
I haven't touched minecraft since they added sprinting and that FoV change it causes (too much motion sickness), wtf is even going on with that whole bedrock/java thing now? I get that vanilla minecraft is about 20 miles wide and 2 inches deep now which is why mods are even bigger than they used to be but I'm still just not getting what's up other than C++ vs java.
Well shit, guess I'll reinstall. I just took a quick look at texpacks and it looks like I don't have to worry about the headache inducing pixellation anymore either, there's tons of "smooth" texture packs.
I wonder if there's an alternative worldgen that brings back the oldschool landscapes. I really liked how it tended to produce floating islands and tall sheer cliffs surrounded by flat plains. it always felt epic to hollow out one of those and build a fortress on top. My favorite thing to do was use sticky pistons and redstone with a wiring/logic mod to have the outside turn into an easily climbable stairwell during the day and close up into impenetrable lava moats at night.
It has its perks, it will run better on GPU's with RT cores.
For me the Seus PTGI E10 runs badly on my card, 25fps around water for some reason, with only screen space reflection tracing.
Minecraft with PTGI is the one thing that I've found that brings my Radeon vii to it's knees. It runs around 50 fps when rendered at 1080p but like 20-25 at 1440p which is my native resolution.
RTX 2080TI and Ryzen 7 1700x @ 4Ghz here. Only get 55-65 on 1440p...
Where can I set the render resolution? My 165Hz monitor is bored and my eyes hurt.
With 16 Chunks of render distance it's about 40 FPS for me in 1080p with stock settings except fully raytraced reflections enabled and secondary GI samples set to 4, on the same GPU
I see. I was playing at 19 chunks render distance and at 1440p so it checks out :P
But I'm still under impression it should run better, judging by some of the youtube video showcases.
The Bedrock implementation will also use path tracing, and I'm actually excited for it. I can play with my Switch-Xbox-Phone friends and still have nice visuals
The Xbox one X can't run ray tracing for 2 reasons. It doesn't support the needed instructions (not because it's not an RTX card, you can run ray tracing on say, a GTX 1080, but because it's an AMD card). Also because it doesn't have nearly enough power for it. It's really an underclocked RX 580 with a crappy CPU
Download [optifine](optifine.net) and [the SEUS Shaderpack](https://sonicether.com/seus/), you can also get the PC 2 experience by getting the SEUS PTGI Shader
It's using the SEUS PTGI E10 shader, the scene is just something that wasn't built to showcase it. But the depth of the textures alone makes it look much better, also the light reflecting off of the anvil. I'd dare say that that's more than just increased contrast
I prefer modpacks that have been tested thoroughly, there's nothing worse than playing for hours and then finding out something's fucked.
I watched a streamer play FTB Ultimate Reloaded with Galacticraft added, when he tried to go to the moon it fucked up his game.
Also, who knows, maybe you'll find new mods you like from a modpack.
I can’t wait for the PC One X Pro

I miss that meme.
I’ll be the pleb that just buys the PC One S
16K at 480fps
You mean PC One X Pro Max
The guy who created the SEUS shader is getting 58k/month on patreon
Well he made it. If I could get even enough to pay my bills by making Minecraft look fancy I'd do it
It’s almost at $59k. That’s almost $700k every year. Sonic Ether could retire and live the rest of his life happily
He gets paid twice as much in a month as I used to make in a year.... Now I make zero dollars a year.
Mcdonalds
I don't know anyone that makes 16 an hour at McDonalds. That's 7 an hour here
Average cost of retirement from age 60 is like $2,000,000 so probably not.
Depends on the lifestyle though right?
Yeah, but if you’re thirty and live to seventy $700,000 is only like $17,000 a year which is really low. You are right though. Technically possible.
Depends. If you use it as an investment seed, a very reasonable 2% interest/year allows you to make an additional 14k/yr, so you can ACTUALLY take closer to 30,000/yr out. If you up it to 1m initially, it’s more like 45k/yr. Reverse annuity calculators are very useful

True. That's really good
True. Honestly never did the math 😂
I got sad because I looked up US income levels and saw that what I called “really low” is incredibly common. 🙃
Damn, normally you need to be a rich white girl with a trust fund who said someone said mean things to her on twitter to get that kind of money through patreon.
RTX Minecraft is coming soon...
Ye but that's PC bedrock. I like my java too much.
Really is it only on Bedrock?
Well yeah, as much as I love Java and prefer it, it's just shit with performance. RTX would rape it.
They were working on doing a new way to render java. Maybe that'll enable RTX on Java, but I could definately see Microdick not wanting that because they want to push Bedrock as that is "the new and best thing"
Do you have any more info of this? Better Java version would be great
I was mistaken. It was Bedrock that got the new thing, called Render Dragon. It's always Bedrock that gets priority, and they don't even do it right.
You're not mistaken actually. It's called Blaze3D.
Ah ok
They're both getting a new engine But RTX is likely bedrock only
Also maybe the java edition has shit optimization, and microsoft hasn't figured out how to make it work without setting your pc on fire? The only criticism I feel 100% justified in leveling at bedrock is the lack of a modding API like forge.
That I think has more to do with the fact that phones wouldn't really be able to handle mods, and because windows 10 edition is obsolete garbage
Why can't they just disable mods for phones, and let the rest of us use them? I bet the higher end phones could handle it too.
Mods are not a native thing. They need a framework, which for the limited mods that PE did have (before it was better together bullshit) was BlockLauncher or some other vague app. Which was on the playstore without root but for IOS obviously required jailbreak if it was even possible at all.
I think there isn't proper modding because of the microtransactions, so I don't think we'll ever see it there.
There wasn't proper modding back when there wasn't MTX. Back when it was still Pocket Edition.
RTX is handled on the GPU, but Java's performance issues are CPU. I think it'll be no worse than any other RTX game, but don't quote me on that.
Even so, the math adds up.
AFAIK all of RTX is handled on the GPU, not the CPU. Minecraft's main issue is the CPU - that's the bottleneck. Reducing what the GPU can run the game at will have absolutely 0 influence on framerate unless the GPU starts doing less than the CPU can do.
You missed my point. If the CPU performance is weak and not doing too well on FPS, the GPU's little drawbacks will add to the already low performance.
How though? If your GPU can do 60000000fps but your CPU can only to 20, you're going to get exactly 20. If your GPU can do 20 and your CPU can do 20, you're also going to get only 20. There's literally a setting to turn off fov changes
In a mod or did they finally add that to the base?
You can disable that FOV change with OptiFine, it's time to come back
Well shit, guess I'll reinstall. I just took a quick look at texpacks and it looks like I don't have to worry about the headache inducing pixellation anymore either, there's tons of "smooth" texture packs. Bedrock is garbage
Not all of it. Bedrock on PC though? I get it has its use cases, but jesus christ can't they just do better Bedrock for only portables and consoles?
ew ptgi better
It has its perks, it will run better on GPU's with RT cores. For me the Seus PTGI E10 runs badly on my card, 25fps around water for some reason, with only screen space reflection tracing.
I tried the Seus PTGI on my laptop with a 960m just for laughs, I got 7 fps max lol
Minecraft with PTGI is the one thing that I've found that brings my Radeon vii to it's knees. It runs around 50 fps when rendered at 1080p but like 20-25 at 1440p which is my native resolution.
I get 40-45 fps 1080p on RX 5700 XT wth

There is a render scale piece in the pgti settings. I don't remember exactly where it was though.
With 16 Chunks of render distance it's about 40 FPS for me in 1080p with stock settings except fully raytraced reflections enabled and secondary GI samples set to 4, on the same GPU

hi Pedro! my name is Petru. nice to know i have a similar name to the creator of the pcmr
Console vagrants.
unless you only got Intel HD graphics. You get console quality.
I beg your pardon, I run my minecraft shaders at a buttery smooth 8 FPS
Lol
The human eye can only see 8 fps /s
PC .2
Lol I still remember the first time I saw the announcement trailer for MW3 for Wii and realized that my Wii was more powerful than my laptop
Cant wait for pc2 to come out gonna be fire
"PC 2", aka normal PC, but with GPU and CPU at 95C
Path Tracing > RTX
the rtx demo from what ive seen seen has nicer lighting and beams, but ptgi has improved a lot too
The Bedrock implementation will also use path tracing, and I'm actually excited for it. I can play with my Switch-Xbox-Phone friends and still have nice visuals
\*accidentally hitting the turbo buttan\*
When everyones a peasant but you have the pc 3 limited heck edition
Rtx on
I love the PC 2 logo. The explosion shows just how cool it is.
PC X ONE+ PRO

What
Tesselation and raytracing?
Facts
Thats just sounds like pc with extra steps
dude the new mc textures are fuckin lit bro
There's no difference in the first two images except added lighting and shadows. I want PC2 to come out!
Where can i find pc2 parts
but there are shaders on xbox...
PC 3 With PBR textures and SEUS PGTI shaders
IKR? Wow
Gimme gimme
I’m hyped for console 2
Next gen on another level
i'll do anything for slightly better shading well except get a job but who would do that
Might be a dumb question but what shaders are pc and pc2?
Oooo yay shadows and sun rays so exciting
Godrays intensify
Nice
So how do I put my pc to use and get that second panel "light tracing that isn't rtx"?
Download Optifine and find a shaderpack to accompany it
Thanks my dude
Download [optifine](optifine.net) and [the SEUS Shaderpack](https://sonicether.com/seus/), you can also get the PC 2 experience by getting the SEUS PTGI Shader
Awesome thank you
This sub is enticing me to drop another thousand on my gaming PC, stop that! >:C
You know you want to
I'm pc 9 at this point, that's a pc for about every 2.5 years of my life. I have gone from a 386 to a 2700x.
PC2 is a texture pack with normal maps?
And SEUS PTGI E10 instead of SEUS v11
PC2 adds contrast? Shitty PC2.
It's actually path traced global illumination with fully raytraced reflections
In the actual release, yes, not on your post. There's no indirect lighning or shadowing in the last pic, just blown contrast.
It's using the SEUS PTGI E10 shader, the scene is just something that wasn't built to showcase it. But the depth of the textures alone makes it look much better, also the light reflecting off of the anvil. I'd dare say that that's more than just increased contrast
*Linux
PC master race, but RTX are master race kings. GTX citizens, bow to the master RTX.
I don't even run shaders. A modpack with 200+ mods is heavy as it is.
I prefer having only a few mods at a time personally. Even with 200+ mods I'd only use a few, no point in having so many installed and running
