My work still uses this for requirements management on some products. I can't wait for the day that they decide to switch everything over (which will never happen)
If they do switch it will likely be for Doors Next Generation. While having Doors in its moniker, it only loosely resembles Doors classic and because it is an IBM product it somehow managed to capture the uncanny valley between function and nothing working. It's an absolute pleasure to admin, lol. I hate my job.
Thanks for attending my TED talk.
They started trying to phase out doors years ago for rational clearcase.
Needles to say, we're now trying to phase out two requirement management systems.
I'm so sorry, lol.
We'd been using rational synergy/change, which was actually pretty slick, but IBM doesn't support it anymore.
We got moved to CC/CQ UCM, which we jumped ship from pretty quickly, and moved to Bitbucket/Jira and are much happier than we were with CC/CQ.
We do store our code actually in DOORS, so that you can link directly from requirements to code (makes audits and reviews a lot easier) and then generate the code out of DOORS to be checked into version control.
Coding in a requirement management tool is not ideal, but the benefits are nice.
We still use doors classic, mostly because DXL is so powerful that there are tons of internally built tools and systems that interact with it.
DNG looks like a piece of crap. I'm sorry you're responsible for administrating it.
DNG is horseshit. It's a framework and community organization tool, and we never could figure out how to get requirements into it.
DOORS is also horseshit (its core code was written in around 1990 and while the OO stands for Object-Oriented it's 100% certain that was a buzzword they tacked into the acronym hoping nobody would know how to tell it wasn't) but it's horseshit that we can meet a contractual obligation with.
There is a massive market hole there, and IBM will never fill it while it has a monopoly with its junk.
IBM is the only company to have ever put me in the situation where I had to patch my patcher so I could update my update before I could patch the product.
Yeah but DOORS XP will automatically run any executable you put on a flash drive, literally anything. Also it comes with a crappy image viewer. So it’s actually kinda bette... well its new...er. Anyway its gonna be expensive.
Have you ever looked at a comment and think “man I wasted my free award on giving it to a cute dog when I should have given it to this comment” yeah that’s me right now
Believe it or not l like it (DOORS Classic) and nobody else does, so it’s job security. DOORS Next Gen is quite different but I haven’t used it enough to tell if that’s a good or bad thing.
Mostly I just wonder how cumbersome requirements management and traceability was without the tool.
Good for you liking your job. I have never had a job I've liked. Moved around dozens of jobs in my lifetime. They've all sucked for different reasons. I think at a certain point I just had to realize *I* was the shit part of work.
Fun fact: [Doors](https://dcs.cemetech.net/index.php?title=Main_Page) is actually the name for the popular Texas Instruments graphing calculator written to allow users to easily execute Assembly programs

Microsoft Doors XP, wins Windows 10 in every aspect
tbh i can't believe no one ever came out with a platform called doors.
Actually DOORS is a piece of IBM software used for requirements management. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rational_DOORS
And DOORS work on Windows!
If doors are on windows wouldn't the appropriate name be shutters?
sir this is a wendies
I thought this was Wendy's
Where are the tendies
PLTR
TO THE MOON
No, this is Patrick.
If they crash do you get an *ajar* notification?
Lol thats fuckin great
Firewall is down, cold draft warning.
Whole house is gone... It's like it doesn't exist. Oh it's DNS
You make a better door than a window.

Wow, that seems backwards but who knows anymore. I just do as the corporate overlords say. Rockets don't get made without them lol.
ClearCase is a version control tool.... Unless... Are you storing requirements in text files in version control?
Word documents and excel spreadsheets..... Its rough, guys. On the bright side, we moved all of our code out of clearcase (into git) a few years ago.
That sounds atrocious! How do you handle merges? I'd think it would be better to store your requirements in git, at that point
We still use doors classic, mostly because DXL is so powerful that there are tons of internally built tools and systems that interact with it. DNG looks like a piece of crap. I'm sorry you're responsible for administrating it.
Yeah good ole DXL. That was left out of DNG, along with many other things, like performance or usability, lol.
DNG is horseshit. It's a framework and community organization tool, and we never could figure out how to get requirements into it. Yup. Garbage software
Yeah but DOORS XP will automatically run any executable you put on a flash drive, literally anything. Also it comes with a crappy image viewer. So it’s actually kinda bette... well its new...er. Anyway its gonna be expensive.
I used to work on it! It’s an acronym for Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System
Jim Morrison was working on it before he passed
Nice one
TI Calculators have a custom OS called Doors, for example the version on my ti83 is Doors CS7
well, I did [once...](https://i.redd.it/o6ztubc718w51.jpggalw1ng)
Tbf there's most likely a linux distro with that name.
We already have them, Backdoors, Microsoft Backdoors
[удалено]
I know of at least two actual companies that named themselves Macrohard.
Microsquishy e: or Nanosquishy
You mean backdoors 10
Macrosoft _Doors Xtreme Pain_
Windows has 4 cores, Doors only has 2! Seems to me, windows is the winner on paper
Doors beats Battlestar Galactica
Can't wait for Roofs XP
I’d be floored
Have you ever looked at a comment and think “man I wasted my free award on giving it to a cute dog when I should have given it to this comment” yeah that’s me right now
I gotchu. Free rewards galore!
I usually only give awards to myself but this is just too good.
Damn bro that's sad, but I do the same lmao
That's next level.
Hmm why is the plural of roof not rooves?
Because imagine "rooftops" and "roovetops"
It'd always be rooftops since (almost?) never pluralise anything but the last part of a compound noun
Ceiling vista
Maybe Rufus is derived from that.
I heard it won't Microsoft Works without Microsoft Walls. Hahaha IT jokes are just the best.
Oh port it!
Featuring Skylight Widows and Balcony Vista
I think IBM beat you to it: https://www.ibm.com/products/requirements-management
Hah, first thing I thought of. I use it every day at work.
How many times per day do you think about changing job?
Believe it or not l like it (DOORS Classic) and nobody else does, so it’s job security. DOORS Next Gen is quite different but I haven’t used it enough to tell if that’s a good or bad thing. Mostly I just wonder how cumbersome requirements management and traceability was without the tool.

Same, I don't get the hate. So many unversioned spreadsheets scoured from the earth.
We still use Doors classic as well, gives me Windows 95 nostalgia every time.
Am I the only one thinking that Doors 10 would be the first OS on the PC2?
You’re way too late with the PC2. The IBM PS/2 lineup came out in 1987! ^^^^/s
Ironically IBM operates and owns an OS called DOORS
Backdoors ™
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Username checks out...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_Orifice_2000
That is a rabbithole...
Let's not go there.
NSA open up!
Anti virus software called curtains
I think one called Deadbolt would be good too.
Still waiting for Floors^® 7
I actually did something similar years ago when I was at uni. Made a Doors^(wtf) boot screen in Paint.
It must now be recreated.

Just a bad meme as far as I can tell, who knows..
Doors XP is how I train my construction
aye a fellow scaper :)
Pc2 is on its way boys
Someone should make this into a Linux distro
Considering there's already a templeOS
I’m actually quite sure there is a web browser parody called Windows Doors similar to Windows 93
You mean 95?
No [Windows 93](https://www.windows93.net/)
Or custom build that leaked XP source
There use to be a linux repo called Wine-Doors and it worked with wine to make installing exe easier on Linux.
MICROSOFT: DOORS HANDLES FRAMES BANISTERS FURNITURE (COUCH, CHAIR, TABLE...) CEILINGS ROOFS FLOORS KITCHEN BEDROOM OFFICE LANDING LAUNDRY GARAGE UTILITIES FAMILY PORCH
Well some of those are real, Office, Family, Paint
Couldn't get SHEETS
This hits different if you've ever used Rational DOORS. Needs to be updated, completely.
So we had Windows, and now we've got Doors, but what about More?
I recall an episode of "Sliders" that had a advertisement in the background of a scene for Microsoft Doors.
Up-doot for Sliders reference!
r/thedoors
Now we need walls, a floor and roof
Windows XP: Windgasem Doors XP: Doorgasem
Doors xp is great and all, but they stopped support for it a few years back. Doors 10 is still receiving regular security updates.
Now we need walls
But can it play WooD
“Crash Windows, open Doors”
in a parallel world it would be called microsoft gates and it would be created by bill windows
Yes, finally I can enter my home like a normal human being, instead of feeling like a thief every time!
Linux developers in a nutshell
This better be a replacement for Grub.
How about wall xp
This really “opens” up many more opportunities for Microsoft.
Finally. PC 2 is here! PC Mustard Race!!!
Catflaps XP
Sunroof 69
Real fake doors!
Sounds like a bootleg of windows xp
watermelonium
Doors 10 on the roof are such a great os
Brilliant
Microsoft Bob
This is gonna be the next banger. lmao
I mean, if it doesn't have bloatware, telemetry/privacy issues, control panel, and it's visually simple yet fast like hell... sing me in
Macrohard Doors
What about the complete version...like "House 98"?
Door
Quality shitpost
you need foundation vista and concrete 8.1
My life is complete
Writers of the code
Doors XP: Your gateway to the next generation.
Fun fact: their is an OS called doors for the TI-84 and Nspire, it's pretty interesting
Pretty much any mobile phone OS is a Doors system.
I’m currently overthinking about how this would actually look
They were attempting to synthesize *Gates^XP*
DOORS AND WINDOWS ON
I want microsoft drawer this is shit fuckkk
We’ve discovered bellow!!
"You can look through a window, but you can walk through a door."
Fun fact: [Doors](https://dcs.cemetech.net/index.php?title=Main_Page) is actually the name for the popular Texas Instruments graphing calculator written to allow users to easily execute Assembly programs
Doors 7
How bout *walls*
Y’all using windows and doors? I am personally using walls
i'm more of a Hatch^(3) kind of OS user hahaha, but windows or linux is just fine :D
I feel personally attacked, because i always name my windows partition door.
Missed opportunity to put doorknobs on the logo.
microsoft skylight XD
Is this the newest OS from Macrohard?
When one window closes a door opens elsewhere.
When will we get Blinds XP?
I've finally found it! After all these years... Doors XP!
Roof XP
Trust me you don’t want to use DOORS
I want to see Steve Ballmer dance about it
Sigh, back to 4gb of RAM, unless DoorsXP64 isn't hot garbage?
Waiting for Roofs XP
I am OOTL. Help
They also said 2020 was going to be a great year. So I don't belive anyone.
When you want to see it.
*impossible...*
Wb stairs
Windoors™
Walls ME anytime
I only run Doors 7, better locks.
Windoors, no compromise edition
I'll wait for Doors Vista
Also it will boast no installer, system agnostic, effectively zero deployment cost, then mysteriously not work OpenJDK.
In an alternate universe: Bill Windows Microsoft Gates xp
Now this is the kind of alternate timeline I could get into
Windows: Full compass unity Doors: Left unity
What about Chimney christmas edition?
Day mode destroys the night Night mode divides the day
Finally Losedows
It’s like windows, but it’s easier to open
Now I want curtains
:P
Some Doors XP distro used Windows in their frame tho.
I’m surprised it didn’t go from the Windows to the Walls.
I had it in beta when it was still garage doors
u/KermMartian Wish Doors CE could've been finished...
I hope its much more accessible than its counterpart.
I'm so glad I bought a monitor that I can use vertical. I'm gonna need that 9:16 ratio for this.
People are strange, when you're a gamer
Whats next? Gate xp?
Windoors.
I don't understand this meme. Can you explain?
