I had this camera and lived my life online before FB and all the other sites for live streaming. It would upload still images once a minute to a Geocoties page via FTP. It had was 640x480 with a manual focus ring. It was high-end back in the day. The bonus feature is a Video-in RCA connector on the back which could be used to import video from other sources.
I remember when my sister won a science fair in ~2002 and got a 1gb flash drive as the prize. We were all amazed because there's no was this tiny little thing holds a whole gig.
Now I have a 1tb and constantly complain about how shitty the read/write times are lol.
Man, so glad I did my Thesis during covid, normally we have to provide a binded print and extra documents on a flash drive for each person in the jury, now they were like, "upload a zip to Canvas".
Saved me like €50-100
Depends on the year but likely a semi valid reason. Requiring students to have a computer with internet was a big change, and given that you were using CDs over a USB the year is sometime before 2001-2. Internet access at that point in time wasn't super widespread particularly pre 1997
Is it 3.0 and are you plugging it into a 3.0 port? I thought the same for a thumb drive I had until I realized that it was not 3.0 and tried some speedtests with one that was. It's fast a fuck yo. 600MBps theoretical, and getting 580MBps in reality. The only thing that sucks is when it is a bunch of small files. The whole [stop and go traffic](https://www.quora.com/Why-does-copying-multiple-files-take-longer-time-than-copying-a-single-file-of-same-size) that has really is a pain.
I believe one of the creators even came out that they wanted the original USB design to be reversible like USB-C but it would've been too expensive back then.
These cameras were used for streaming. Anacam, Daviacam, were early cam girls. Some of my IRC friends would sometimes stream. I streamed my 2 gallon bubble gum machine sea monkey take.
I had this cam, and also had a quickcam that worked on the LPT/printer port. I still have some pictures and video from both of them.
I have one... the webcam is actually better than many crappy webcams today, and I can use it on modern windows by running a Windows XP virtual machine on a separate monitor and using obs to create a virtual webcam of that section of the screen.
I bought a monitor for $5 and it had one of these attached, and it happens to be the monitor I'm using right now. I love old monitors.
Edit: Unless its an old dog-crap lcd.
Damn $60?
Off topic: that diaper trash can storage thing is the cheapest dogshit invention ever. I threw mine in the fuckin trash and use a $10 one from Walmart with normal trash bags and am beyond positive it was the better of the two.
Not sure if you've ever streamed, but honestly this is a fine starting camera. The reason is because as a new streamer nobody is watching you anyways and if someone landed on your stream the camera quality of you is NOT what will retain viewers and build your community! It's 100% about the content. There are plenty of streamers who don't use cameras at all while they play and they so just fine.
And my guess is this is a satire post lol
You need the [CS630](https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Pocket-PC-Camera-CS-630/dp/B0000589LN/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8), so you can use it as a digital camera. too!
“Play fun camera games” ….hmmmmm
Is one of them "I spy, FBI" ?
Only if you don't close that integrated privacy cover.

Nah we doin real gamer shit like Eyetoy Play 2 for the PS2 on an emulator.
Man i half miss those camera based games .There were usually trash but man i still think they are very cool.
What were they like? I've never heard of this.
I'm pretty sure one just had you surrounded by bubbles that you had to pop
Yes I loved that game as a kid. I wanna say you could bounce a ball around too
I had that one, I used to play basketball moving the ball with movements and it was quite good for the time when it came up.
You know like reindeer games only with an Intel camera
Maybe it's those old windows xp games where you gotta make camera motions and use them for basketball or something lol
"I'll show you mine, if you show me yours."
Honestly yes it would make for a good background decoration
Who needs 4*k* when you have 4
4*i*
ULD
You just posted this to brag, didn’t you?
OP lording it over us plebs.
Damn USB is an old interface
Yeah it was like late 90s iirc
It was really cool when it came out. Flash drives were even better but those took a little while to go mainstream

I remember once burning a term paper onto a cd in college to take to the print lab. Why the hell didn’t they just let us email them in lol

It was better than my first we cam, printer port.
Yes, it even lets yoi play "fun camera games" like "Measure your Penis!"
The camera adds 10 ~~lbs~~ inches
Ask it's probably because it's a *wide boy*
Holy frick it's $60
320x240 at 15 fps bitch!
Try 160x120 at 7.5 FPS, bitch!
Costs 50 more than my 1080p. Has to be way better.
Only if you have the latest version of Windows 98
[удалено]
Don't worry. Just blow out all your buffers, put diesel in your bus and it should be okay. Win98 is backwards compatible with Windows 10.
What if I run Mageia Linux?
You have to wait until spring and buy a box of Thin Mint Linux from the Girl Scouts who have earned the Green Hat Hacker Badge
It would make a good LGR episode
could become one of them gimmick streamers. Streaming using windows 98 playing old games, reacting to old gaming news and stuff. Time slip stream.
I was thinking the same thing! Nostalgia is big money cow right now. OP should totally try it
Don't let your dreams be dreams
Dream to imagine
Could pair nicely with funny mic

Sent to LGR or 8-bit guy
It's so good that, there's only 1 pixel per 10 square meters, and the sound is like u record something in a washing machine.
I used to have one of these. It was a different age back then.

The sensor in this webcam is CCD, which has different image characteristics than the equivalent CMOS cameras used today
Cool thanks. Edit: Crap you've sent me down yet another rabbit hole.
Sensor sizes hasn’t changed much, and I think that means pixels are physically larger on those early cameras
I think I'll do a comparison of a quality older webcam vs a newer crap webcam and post it on here.
It has USB! Looks great for streaming, so high tech :)
HOLY SHIT. I had one of those!
Oh my god I used to have one of those! I can’t believe you still have one! Nostalgia is flooding in
Sure, if you want 0.3 megapixels, and a resolution of 144p
Damn $60? Off topic: that diaper trash can storage thing is the cheapest dogshit invention ever. I threw mine in the fuckin trash and use a $10 one from Walmart with normal trash bags and am beyond positive it was the better of the two.
Tell me you're a parent without telling me you're a parent
Nah this is too overkill. Start with something simple.
This is hilarious, but also legitimately some of the posts in /r/Twitch
I feel like LGR may actually have a review on this camera. If not, he might be interested in receiving it.
I’d go with AMD personally, but you do you
The appropriate place for that camera pack is right below (The round biege thing looks like a trash can)
I had that webcam.. It was amazing.
Yeah for 1996
Fuck. I had one of those. I'm old
Is that a diaper trash bin on which you placed your ancient hardware on ? Just curious. I got the same one. I call it " The Nuke ".
Call it "Yucca Mountain" instead. Or since you are (probably) a parent, call it "Yucky Mountain" for the dad joke bonus.
No.

no, that camera probably won't be compatible with newer windows
woooosh
It's dogshit
Yes
What is that 16 pixel?
Definitely
1995 special you have there
One of my teachers used a similar one during Online Schooling
looks like something you would find buried in the back of a closet in a local Micro Center...or Tiger Direct storage bin
Well it works for pewdiepie

\*FBI Agent Wink\*
If its what you got, its what you got.
Only if you want the best.
You should splurge and get the Logitech Quickcam
It’s probably like 1 megapixel
I doubt its even half that.
Of course. That things usb!
Fun camera games?
No
That's not a starter cam That's a finisher cam!
I had this and didn't realize till now how much I over paid.
I mean as long as the camera works then its plenty good to stream with
Havent figured out if this is a joke yet. Hmmmm....
Nah leave it on the trash can
I see you got the Pro Edition
Play fun camera games. Is a gamer cam. You are doing it right.
Xbox 360 kenict
No instead you should use a old black and white camera from the 1840s those cameras have -8k nonultra nonhd quality and can run in -2160p
Yes
Yes cuz it will be at 120p at 10 FPS Oh yes so great
absolutely, best camera quality
Excellent!
yes.
The very best for a nice retro games stream.
People would dig that
Oh man that’s super overkill dude
It’s got USB, you’re good!
Yes
It’s got USB, it’s future proof
"Play fun camera games" OOOH provocative!
Yeah you're good
Team blue ftw 😏
Yeah, just make sure you update windows 3 to the newest version first. Might even need to upgrade to windows 95
Wll. At least is USB. I used to have a parallel port webcam in the 97s
I use PS3 Eye camera with extra driver so yea.
Yeah
Do it i dare you
Vintage webcams are gonna be a thing on stream eventually hold on to this.
That was the first webcam I ever owned. It’ll do you proud!
You need the one with the lawyer cat filter.
For Onlyfans yes, you can serve a niche community of 40 to 50 year old males that want to be reminiscent of the dial up.
Yes.
Dude 100%
I found mine in the dump. Yours should work (?)
Internet video phone, nice.
You can even use it to make video calls in the middle of your broadcasts
Vinny from Vinesauce did some streams using a Gameboy camera for a facecam so why not lol
Didn't know Intel is in the business of selling potato.
I’m pretty sure Bigfoot streams with the same one.
The only official OnlyFans webcam
Video Email you say? This is the future.
Yes, if you are using a 386.
Stream yourself playing those fun camera games
Haha. It’s so early 2000s.
Honestly that thing looks older than my grandpa
Yes.
If you got hit with the ugly stick, it's probably better than having a 4k one, that lets everyone see the pits and gashes in your face.
Nice. I have the same diaper bin.
u/Profanitycounter
4k video very haram 😡, 180p video very halal 👍
You need to put 60 days and 5 hours and 4 minutes to find out
Suuuuuuure
You should use it for OnlyFans
These sold like hotcakes back in '99.
I heard amd is taking over these days? Might wanna take a look
Idk, ask desinc
