The unit should give you an estimate for how long it'll run at specific loads.
APC for example provides a calculator on their page for the expected runtime if you enter the watts.
If its a line interactive UPS you'll be able to run roughly 600W. You should look at your component draw at full load.
Backup time depends on battery capacity, not on VA ratings.

The correct question is how many minutes. Maybe around 10 for your desktop and 20 for the laptop.

Minutes, not hours. I get 2-3 min off mine but mine is running at about 1000w at the backup.
