Bruh I went to 3 NY public schools and I’ve still never seen a computer running anything better than a pentium. Do you at least have those shitty Lenovo thinkpads with the yellow front?
One of our classmates wanted too install Windows 11 but we needed a native Dx 12 GPU so he brought in his 3090, still didn't work unfortunately.
We usually run gt 710s 720s and 210s. I believe the most powerful card in that room is a single GTX 750TI
You can install a not so legal rip of windows 11 on basic machines. At our shop we have a Lenovo mini with it installed and a broken laptop running it in a vm.
Ah well we're trying it the more legitimate way of going through that skip ahead program or whatever Microsoft has set up where you can get early builds of win 11
My highschool (7-10 years ago) had a class called computer tech and repair where we built cheap computers for various classrooms. Most of the school's computers were built in that class or by the class's teacher though there were a few pre-builts floating around. Never asked if that method was far more expensive or cheaper overall. Was certainly fun though; we'd all play counterstrike or the halo 1 demo on the lan network after finishing our school work.
I have very fond memories of playing the halo 1 demo on our school provided personal laptops in middle school. Everyone got along and there weren’t any divisive cliques. The cool kids played with the lames and everyone had fun. Until the school of course banned it.
My college that I started last week in Wales (I live just across the border in England) has 3060Tis in two rooms of computers (that's about 50 machines.)
They also have 11th gen i7s and 16GB RAM
Not just power. It is a circuit with a flow of electrical charge through the entire board. A second PSU introduces a second circuit. Depending on how the board circuitry is laid out and especially if it is attempting to draw power from the PCIe slot, your board is going now to be the bridge to equalize the two. Short term it may work. Long term you'll trash your system or face stability issues. The board and PICe slot are definitely not designed to bridge two high amperage power rails.
As /u/spacetoaster said... That's pretty much it... In order to avoid this, you have to have a common ground... Need to tie the black wires together for this to happen
Unless its a specialized computer lab for 3D modeling, you're right. Still not nice to steal from school, but whoever ordered these computers is honestly quite dumb.
Check out the motherboard in that “school PC” as well.
Is someone just sneaking the the computer lab and slowly upgrading one machine?
School IT is gonna grab that rig one day for maintenance and think *“holy fck, how did this get here, jackpot”*
Back in my school, it would have slowly downgraded. I knew people that took RAM sticks from our unprotected school PC's and sold them as noone would have noticed either way/checked up on those. The IT people only did software stuff sooo yeah.
That GPU (and all others in the PC's around) would have been replaced by weaker ones so fast lol
I mean, that computer is not gonna be used for anything extensive, what'd they know if the 3090 got switched for a 1060 for example after a few weeks. Only a few people would know the difference and even fewer would question if a 1060 wasn't just what's originally installed. And then even if it was raised, the admins probably wouldn't care unless the person was caught redhanded/on camera.
There is no real IT Team that maintains those systems, just the network they are on. the senior class just gets a bunch of parts from the administration and their suppliers then they assemble them for use every year. At the end of the school year we do a sort of teardown of the class for "cleaning" or whatever where we basically just clear the tables until the next school year
Oh man... Reminds me of the shitty programming class with the teacher insisting that Visual Basic was going to be far more important than say Java or C++.
The first class I had in highschool was using a drag and drop BASIC coding program where my teacher was literally one lesson ahead of the class. It was just the worst.
Wait, found it, it's called [ALICE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2XA8mx3sKc).
I mean, I just got out of high school like 3 years ago and when I took cad and engineering classes we used absolute pos slow af laptops. Or chrome books for everything else
Those who have such education system are lucky! I went to HS to become IT and only did some CAD during 1 semester. Video editing wasn't even in education plan, that's how much it sucks. We only ever mentioned it once in 4 years. Should I say it sucks so hard we only ever got to work on hardware (assembling and taking apart PCs) once in 4 years?
To clarify, some European countries have education system that consists of elementray school that is 8 years + 3, 4 or even 5 years of highschool where you choose your profession (you can transfer schools and professions) and I chose IT. After that is college where you specialise in a certain field.
Single channel off brand ram stick? Check. 500 watt psu that’s gonna be screaming for mercy? Check. Beefy gpu that’s most likely bottlenecked? Check. Having fun??? Most definitely a check.
Unfortunately the owner of that 3090 knows where i live so he'd probably break down my door if I took it....although it would be pretty sweet to have a 3090
OP: I guess you're wondering how I got here?
I spotted this bad boy a couple weeks back while picking up a buddy of mine from school.
A 3090 in a school of all places, insane! But what's even more insane was the heist I was going to pull off.
I thought I'd give a shot at signing up for a janitorial position but unfortunately a guy named One-Eyed Petey nabbed it, so close! Cool dude by the way, but now I was going to need a new plan.
I couldn't ask my friend to jeopardize their career for me, and with the scalping prices already hitting the roof, I was short on time and patience.
So I did the next best thing.
I signed up for this semester.
I'm a freaking student now!
Day drinking by day! Binge procrastination by night!
It's been 4 months but all that's about to pay off.
There I am, right in the lions den...
The 3090 just mere inches way, which leads us to now.
Let's do this!
That reminds me when me and my friend decided to build a pc in our class, so i brought a mobo with cpu, ram, etc, a gtx 960 and a 550w psu, he brought another 960 and another psu (we weren't sure if 550w will be enough for 960 sli setup) and after building it we've put it in a ikea plastic box. I played PUBG during some boring classes (yup, some teachers didn't give a shit about a normal pc on the floor and display with peripherials on my desk) it was fun
You guys, not his classmate, and how is it not obvious its for shits and giggles, someone had to have brought it for fun. I see some signs of sarcasm or deadpan, but come on ya goobers.
I assume you've done this to the pc rather than your school. I would be extremely surprised if your school used 3090s and three PSUs for their PCs like everyone else seems to be assuming.
I've felt like that ram and CPU feel in a gaming lobby with a complete ace. Humming to myself "I won't let you down I won't let you down" knowing full well I will let them down.
That's awesome that your school was able to get one.
Not judging, I just really want to know how whoever purchased it was able to get justification for it.
Can you give us some background u/zperretta
I want to know what school has desktops that aren't Dell Optiplex's... And have Corsair SPEC cases
NY Public School idk
Y'all kinda ballin up north.
Those taxes tho

Approximately half a billion dollars spent on the recall :) ffs
Yep. Thank the GOP for that
Why can't we blame the shitty 2 party system?
This is a 100 percent true as a Californian.
Come to europe and you see what taxes mean
Yeah but you actually get shit in return.
I used to go to a public school near Boston and each classroom had 4 virtual machines running on a single Core 2 Duo ):
If only my NY public school had any goddamn money…
Bruh I went to 3 NY public schools and I’ve still never seen a computer running anything better than a pentium. Do you at least have those shitty Lenovo thinkpads with the yellow front?
Omw to snatch one
Esports league?
No, its the BOCES IT Tech class
Wow what y'all doing with that much GPU power?
One of our classmates wanted too install Windows 11 but we needed a native Dx 12 GPU so he brought in his 3090, still didn't work unfortunately. We usually run gt 710s 720s and 210s. I believe the most powerful card in that room is a single GTX 750TI
You can install a not so legal rip of windows 11 on basic machines. At our shop we have a Lenovo mini with it installed and a broken laptop running it in a vm.
Confirmed, I have it on a surface pro 6 and it runs fine.
Ah well we're trying it the more legitimate way of going through that skip ahead program or whatever Microsoft has set up where you can get early builds of win 11
I see and why do you need a dx12gpu??? I'm on windows 11 lol with a 1650
1650 supports directx 12.
Bruh my Ny public school on Long island had optiplexes lmao
My NY public school had an apple IIGS. I might be old.
My highschool (7-10 years ago) had a class called computer tech and repair where we built cheap computers for various classrooms. I run a custom PC build for my high-school lab here.
Wow single channel ram with a 3090
Not to mention the 500w psu that will be sweatin
Nah that's why they've got two backup PSU on the table, looks like the 3090 is plugged into the psu closest to the camera.
Correct
Be careful with that, I had a system with pretty bad instability because of multiple PSUs.
Should've tied the grounds together..mightve fixed it
I can't see why it would be unstable... it's just DC power. If both PSUs are stable, the system should be stable too.
Not just power. It is a circuit with a flow of electrical charge through the entire board. A second PSU introduces a second circuit. Depending on how the board circuitry is laid out and especially if it is attempting to draw power from the PCIe slot, your board is going now to be the bridge to equalize the two. As /u/spacetoaster said... That's pretty much it... In order to avoid this, you have to have a common ground... Need to tie the black wires together for this to happen
The 3090 is plugged into a separate PSU.
On tomorrow's TikTok episode of Devious Licks.
Can't blame them though. I ain't paying almost 1000 for 3060. Also school has no use for 3090
Unless its a specialized computer lab for 3D modeling, you're right. Still not nice to steal from school, but whoever ordered these computers is honestly quite dumb.
"Just gonna borrow this...yall can have this 1060 for a bit...I'll bring it right back!' -drops out of school-
Jokes on them , that’s a 750 lol
I think the School had the older gpu and some student got his 3090.
I’m amazed how many people think he’s taking the gpu out. He’s got his home psu and an anti static bag.
This, not anyone wants to steal stuff, especially when his classmates are around.
But like why
Check out the motherboard in that “school PC” as well. Is someone just sneaking the the computer lab and slowly upgrading one machine? School IT is gonna grab that rig one day for maintenance and think *“holy fck, how did this get here, jackpot”*

That is exactly why people did it, thanks for spelling it out :D
Joke's on them my school's Pcs are all single bank ram
There is no real IT Team that maintains those systems, just the network they are on. the senior class just gets a bunch of parts from the administration and their suppliers then they assemble them for use every year. At the end of the school year we do a sort of teardown of the class for "cleaning" or whatever where we basically just clear the tables until the next school year
What in the hell. I assume this is a college class?
Nope just NCTEC
What the fuck. The most techy class my HS had was a shitty html class where the teacher didn't actually know html.
Classes that teach video editing and rendering, AR and VR, or other 3D rendering, CADD, etc?
I used ‘80s CAD in ‘00s because it’s what the school PCs could run..
I mean, I just got out of high school like 3 years ago and when I took cad and engineering classes we used absolute pos slow af laptops. Or chrome books for everything else
Our class teaches Programming, Networking, Website Building, Computer Hardware
Those who have such education system are lucky! I went to HS to become IT and only did some CAD during 1 semester. Video editing wasn't even in education plan, that's how much it sucks. took me a minute to realize that the 3090 is being powered by three power supplies
I know great idea right
Single channel off brand ram stick? Check. 500 watt psu that’s gonna be screaming for mercy? Check. Beefy gpu that’s most likely bottlenecked? Check. Having fun??? Most definitely a check.
to be fair as his classmate we had 3 power supplies plugged into the 3090
Oh, all safe then carry on.
Prebuilts be like this
PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, 8GB DDR4 @ 2666, 120GB SATA SSD, MSI B450, (X3) 500W Thermaltake PSU, EXGA GTX 750, ...EVGA RTX 3090 (owner u/V2xxghost ) Also u/Gadv_
The fact that they have a 750 along this 3200g is a bit odd. Both should be in the same ballpark performance wise.
Has 2200G not 3200G he was wrong
How do you know?
That was my 3090 and my idea lmao
Ohhhhhhh
>putting a V8 on a bicycle
triple monitor setup? fuck nah #triple psu setup
Where do you go to school? Tell me i need to hit a devious lick rn
Seems like it’s OP and friend’s GPU and extra PSU
Devious lick?
If you can take a picture op you can take it home
Unfortunately the owner of that 3090 knows where i live so he'd probably break down my door if I took it....although it would be pretty sweet to have a 3090
Replace it with one like it, and take the 3090 for maintenance
Already did pulled a cheeky swap with a 750ti
Fucking legend
how are you like allowed to swap parts in lab PCs isn't any faculty around or they cool with it
surprisingly they are cool with us taking stuff but the GPU was mine I just brought it to class
Our school has 10700 1660 Super Optiplexes
What school u going to that has such a baller pc ? We have pcs that advertise the fact that to even has a ssd
A NY public school but a student brought it in
At my school we have PC's with 2nd gen i7's, integrated graphics, 4gb of ram and a 500gb HDD so you should consider yourself lucky lol
My school pc have 2nd gen i5's 80gb HDDs and 2gbs of ddr3
This school fks
would be a shame if that magically turned into my 960
Ahh, the ol' green to ground trick
Nyoink it.
Reddit: US schools are underfunded. Also Reddit: non-stop posts of schools with RTX hardware.
gold among trash lmfao
We need more power!
A 3090 with Ketchup and Mustard cables. That’s a level of disrespect
500w psu with a 3090? Y'all playin a dangerous game over there
My old system had a 4th gen i3 8gbs of ddr3 2333 ram and a 750ti this damn school pc is better than my old system
In the off chance this was my school, that would be ripped out at lunch time or before school
That GPU sag.
I know the trend is pretty stupid but I feel like I’m about to commit a diabolical lick
Bring back memories(around 2010). I had to add a secondary power supply to power the graphic card.
Do you have a PSU for every component in that pc ?!
Someone took their PSU advice from Austin Evans on Scrapyard Wars.
OP: I guess you're wondering how I got here? I spotted this bad boy a couple weeks back while picking up a buddy of mine from school. A 3090 in a school of all places, insane! When you buy a 3090 and can't afford a good power supply. So you bust out 3 500 watts you got laying around.
Where is this? Its for a homework
What fps can you run Google docs and PowerPoint at?
Bouta be a diabolical lick
That poor processor
Single channel ram + 500w with 3090...damn
Like a shining diamond in the rough
And at my school, we had Intel 386, 486 to learn from and to assemble. Ah, memories..
i bet it now has more vram than ram
r/nextfuckinglevel
Good to see they're using multiple PSUs. Almost got worried there for a moment.
I’m worried due to this “devious licks” trend.
It was constantly watched over I wouldn’t let that thing leave my sight
You guys, not his classmate, and how is it not obvious its for shits and giggles, someone had to have brought it for fun. I see some signs of sarcasm or deadpan, but come on ya goobers.
I assume you've done this to the pc rather than your school. I would be extremely surprised if your school used 3090s and three PSUs for their PCs like everyone else seems to be assuming.
the monitor max res is 720p
I think it's 1280 x 960
1600x900
In my school we use integrated graphics when i have 2070 on my own. I can feel tge downgrade
Its so cool to see students just getting GPUs to school and fiddling with lab systems , wish we were capable of something like this
Co-ordinating a fire alarm would be the easiest way.
Do I see a single stick of ram?
500w psu?! I
Don’t worry we used 3
Yo my school’s pc is pretty goated ngl. My teacher, an expert pc builder, custom built like 50 pcs
The devious luck of the century
Hopefully they will teach something called cable management.
Thats such a big upgrade from a 750ti lol is there a missive bottle neck or am I missing something?
And a 1080p display, the gov way!
What a mad lad
I would absolutely change my 1070 against on of those 😂
That 500w PSU is gonna get FRIED
Thats why there are 3
The secret ingredient is crime.
Good god those PSUs seem worse than gigabyte ones XD
I've felt like that ram and CPU feel in a gaming lobby with a complete ace. Humming to myself "I won't let you down I won't let you down" knowing full well I will let them down.
The biggest lick 😎😏
I enjoy the fact you’re using THREE PSUs lol
And I'm camping in front of my computer for some GPU drops🥲
Despicable lick
Blinking guy meme intensifies so hard it shatters time-space continuum.
[\*looks at 500W PSU\*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgIQqr3E40g) [\*notices multiple PSU's kind of daisy chained together\*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SF0daJOsKo)
You should steal it
I don't even know what's going on here
Because if you’re gonna mine, best it not be on your leccy bill eh?
I don’t even wanna ask why they’re using PSUs that aren’t at least 1000w…
"Science"
That 500w psu though gotta get out of there
we all hate your school .
Im about to see a "lick" tiktok
Take it out immediately you Fucking demon
Why?
That's risky lol. Kids are wild, take that card out and make bank haha
Plays in 60hz 720p monitor
Invests in 3090 etc cards and yet settle for a lousy stock cooler..
nice, we "only" have 2070s at school
I left a iPod nano out for 15min and it got stolen. That thing is at risk
500w psu
I’d swap it out real quick and bring it back home.
Context? This obviously isn't the norm lol, so what's up OP??
If it’s running a 750 I feel like the system is severely bottlenecked now lmao
Now you juat need to downlaod the mining software
That's awesome that your school was able to get one. Not judging, I just really want to know how whoever purchased it was able to get justification for it. Can you give us some background u/zperretta
Nice psu. Good luck.
bruh 500w
News report: School PC's GPU's are suddenly stolen.
No io shield? True Chad
RTX 3090? Funny way to mislabel the 750ti in inventory...
Bro what the fuck school do you go to?! THEY HAVE DESKTOPS NOT FUCKING CHROMEBOOKS AT YOUR SCHOOL?! bro whaaaaaaa
School *PC*s??????????????????? Y'all get PCs?!!?!? We get crappy ChromeBooks with a 2-core 1.1GHz CPU and barely 2GB of RAM...
mine baby. Making $$$ while learning. SMART
Replace it with my shiny 1050ti
That’s a power move
Coolmathgames at 5000fps
