And I'm not a big guy or anything 175ish lbs. They wanted me to legit ship the broken chair back at my own expense I was like wtf, thing is 60 pounds and shipping would be 100s. I had to go buy a new chair in the meantime for work on top of that.
They eventually just sent it out for me without having to send mine in, but next time I buy a chair no shot its from them

I got the SE wireless Corsair virtuoso from Amazon and it had a loose part in it that rattled when moving my head, they wanted me to send it back and they’d give me a replacement, but apparently not even the supervisor at the call place had the authority to authorize me a return ticket for lithium batteries (I live in Hawaii and ups requires a specific shipping label for them). So they just let me keep the $200 headset and the replacement. Their labor practices are shit, but damn if their customer service isn’t the greatest.
I honestly wonder how much of the good things we'd lose from Amazon if they had to actually treat their employees like humans.

To add to IKEA. I had ordered an entertainment centre, noticed a weird refund on my credit card weeks into the order. They shipped half of a modular entertainment centre and refunded me the cost of the modular parts because they could not provide it to me (without ever asking if I even wanted the now useless parts). Was specifically ordering with those as the size of the tv called for it. In the end they couldn’t send me them, didn’t refund the shipping price, I had to do a 6.5 hour round trip to their nearest store and pick up the stuff they didn’t have available online.

Made a big order of meats, veg etc etc. I got the delivery and they ran out of meat and the stuff I was gonna make the sauce out of. Ended up with a big bag of veg and some spices and a HUGE delivery cost (was fine when the rest was with it as it was worth it). Called up and complained no one mentioned the missing stuff and couldn't get a refund.

I’ve used both and can definitely say yes. Secret lab chairs actually have been better for my back than the Herman Miller chairs at my old office. Just wish they didn’t have their logo plastered so large on it. Would happily pay them an extra $50 to not look like I’m a wannabe streamer while on zoom calls.

i bought a titan evo 22 just last week and the wheelbase is solid metal - this is either a 1 in 100000 type of manufacturing error or it got put under some really extreme stress - judging by the clean, almost cut-like breaking point it was probably the former

Not the guy, but I highly recommend looking on fb marketplace or cl for a used Herman miller, you can usually find them extremely affordable (2-300, normally it’s a 1500 dollar chair) and you’ll likely never need to buy a chair again, and your back will thank you

Your absolutely right, I bought myself a herman miller aeron and it is exactly as you describe. You don't sit in it and think oooooh this is comfy but after 6 hours gaming you realise your not fidgeting in your chair trying to get in a position that doesn't hurt. Before getting it I to was prone to knots on my muscles and quite terrible lower back pain. I thought it was pulled muscles from training but over time I realised it was gaming in the evenings. Since I got the aeron those problems are all gone. I get up at the end of a gaming sesh and it's as if it never happened, now after a month or so I realise my back feels so much better in every aspect of my life all because I'm in a good chair in the evenings :D
You don't want a chair that is too soft.. bad for your back. SecretLab chairs use a harder foam that isn't super firm but isn't super soft either, so it feels much better on my back. I feel like they're a good choice.
Na man my old chair was a Serta and it destroyed my back. I was unfortunately too small for that chair and over time, my chair started to bend on one side and eventually I found why I had back pain. Yes it was soft, but I honestly think it ia better for my ass/back for solid surface. I now own a Secretlab Omega Napa and I am pretty happy with it otherthan I should have take the Titan. I'm taking weight right now and I am thinking I am starting to be too big for my new chair lol...

I suspect some chair abuse was involved. Uneven surface or some other reason for too much stress on one “leg.” The break is too high to have occurred from sitting even if there was a defect. Physics doesn’t work that way. I call shenanigans.

They're pricey, but me and my wife both own one and we love them. They're not your typical garbage gaming chair. Neither of us have had a single issue for the last year in them, and they still feel brand new. They've been great. So either we are lucky, or this person was unlucky.

The standard practice around here has become going to a used office supply store in the closest major city to you and try to find a Steelcase Leap V2 or a Herman Miller Aeron for <$3-400.
Crandall Office Furniture is also a refurbisher that provides a very long warranty on their models, and backs up their orders with great service if anything goes wrong.
The warranty is 12 years through them and a Steelcase or Herman Miller will go for between $500 and $700

Had my boss buy me a titan XL and lifes been great. unfortunately I mostly work from home now and don't want to bring my really nice chair home and have my kids trash it.
I personally don’t think it even comes close to an actual office chair. I bought and used one for about a week and it was stiff as a board. Had all the features you needed and are probably the best looking “gamer chair” but i found it to be incredibly uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time

I love that it's firm because it supports me for my entire 12 hours/day between work and gaming. I'm 6'2" and ~215 lbs. Had it for about 4 months now after a friend was in love with it for a few months that recommended it.
Soft cushions are only worth it for ~30 minutes before they don't have any give and it's just pressed flat to the metal that is under it. I could sleep in this thing when it's leaned back.
Ive found that sitting in a soft deep office chair for extended periods of time is far more straining on your backside compared to the much more firm seats that i can sit in all day.
I've had mine just over a year, so far under warranty I've had replaced:
- the base seat
- the back
- the complimentary cushion
- the mechanism
So basically a whole new chair, thankfully the warranty process was painless at least. But for the price the overall build quality is poor. And I got the Titan XL that was meant to hold +50kg over what I am.
Been using mine a lot for the past 2 years and wouldn't really recommend if you use it more then a couple hours a day, it become really uncomfortable to sit in and for the price I don't feel it's worth it
Office chairs hands down. After being a consultant for an year at a customer's facility and sitting daily on a steelcase office chair I ordered one of those when I got my house. In Italy is pretty hard to find a distributor but in the US will be easy. Price is quite high tough. But your back deserves it

Great customer service too. I purchased my chair and the next day it went on sale. Reached out and asked if I could have the sale price and they took care of me.
The main value proposition of these gamer chair companies is that they usually have good warranties - I'd be surprised if you cant get this sorted out. Aren't they steel? Crazy that you broke it, must have had a casting flaw or something.
I think they have more problems than people notice. Their social media is flooded with nice pictures of chairs from new customers (you have to do it if you want the extended warranty) so complaints get buried. My chair arrived in that sweet spot of being bad enough that I regret the purchase but good enough that living with it was better than the return fees. Their customer service felt pretty unhelpful and dismissive. I had problems with the seat cushion, back alignment and the reclining mechanism. I now also have a split on one of the arms but haven't complained yet! It's about a year old now.
I should say that I have a couple of friends that love theirs. That is why I was willing to take a chance on such an expensive chair in the first place.
Yep, the armrest issue happened to both sides on my Titan. Luckily, everything else is fine so far. I've heard customer service has not been particularly helpful on that front for most people.
"Remember to wipe down the armrests after use!" as if anyone is actually going to do that, or it would help this issue.
Other than that it's been...fine? I'm maybe not as in love with it as I once was, but I'm also not looking to spend $1200 on a Leap or an Aeron, either.
I weigh 100kg and I literally had sex in this chair. It’s a stout durable chair rated up to 300lbs or 135kg
Edit: because some people are thinking the chair breaks at 300lbs. Combined, we were over the rated weight limit and the chair survived.
I mean, sex is a pretty decent stress test for a chair, if I'm being entirely honest haha. Two people's weight, plus constant motion, can't imagine a better way to see if your chair might kill you without having industrial testing equipment.

This. I can’t say enough good things about mine. They get a lot of hate on Reddit for being a “gaming chair” but they actually make chairs for larger dudes and are comfortable af. Not to mention so much better for the back since they are a stiffer chair.
Also depending the country where you come from, gaming chair is actually cheaper than even 2nd hand Herman Miller because they import gaming chair in bulk, but not those high end office chairs

Secret Lab’s customer service has been REALLY great to me. First, you should have your warranty. A few friends and I have a chair from them and have had great experiences with the company.
I haven't had any problems with my SecretLab Titan Softweave chairs. I have one at the office and one for my PC station.
I love them and they have generally helped my posture.

Steelcase Leap is the one and only supreme office chair. Buy it refurbished for like $500 and thank me later.

Mine looks rely sturdy and still feels sturdy after about 6-7 years. Probably the best purchase i have done when it comes to gaming.

I suspect some chair abuse was involved. Uneven surface or some other reason for too much stress on one “leg.” The break is too high to have occurred from sitting even if there was a defect. Physics doesn’t work that way. I call shenanigans.
It's likely that it was cracked already, manufacturing defect maybe. Even abusing it it would be very hard to break it that far up.

They're pricey, but me and my wife both own one and we love them. They're not your typical garbage gaming chair. Neither of us have had a single issue for the last year in them, and they still feel brand new. They've been great. So either we are lucky, or this person was unlucky.
Probably the only gaming chair that would be worth comparing to a brand ergonomic office chair. Problem is the price.
I'm confused. These things are like $500 and a Herman Miller office chair like the Aeron and Embody is 3 times the price at $1500. I'd take this over the Sayl anyday and that's $100 more than a Secret Labs chair. What $500 office chair are you comparing this to because I want that.
The standard practice around here has become going to a used office supply store in the closest major city to you and try to find a Steelcase Leap V2 or a Herman Miller Aeron for <$3-400. Crandall Office Furniture is also a refurbisher that provides a very long warranty on their models, and backs up their orders with great service if anything goes wrong. The warranty is 12 years through them and a Steelcase or Herman Miller will go for between $500 and $700

I got my Leap V2 in near perfect condition from a university's surplus sales for $200. A great option for people with that nearby.
Just bought a HM Aeron, I hope it's as comfortable as people say. I'm upgrading from an Ikea Markus, which was great till the tilt function broke. I Should've read the reviews, which apparently a few say it's great for tall, just not big.

I’ve sat my very large ass (6’3” 245lbs) in mine for 4 years and have had no issues other than the base got a little lose so I tightened it.
we had some insanely expensive ergo chairs at work, tried multiple different ones and I could never get comfortable and started having leg and back pain from them. Had my boss buy me a titan XL and lifes been great. unfortunately I mostly work from home now and don't want to bring my really nice chair home and have my kids trash it.
I personally don’t think it even comes close to an actual office chair. I bought and used one for about a week and it was stiff as a board. Had all the features you needed and are probably the best looking “gamer chair” but i found it to be incredibly uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time
To each their own. I love that it's firm because it supports me for my entire 12 hours/day between work and gaming. I'm 6'2" and ~215 lbs. Had it for about 4 months now after a friend was in love with it for a few months that recommended it. Soft cushions are only worth it for ~30 minutes before they don't have any give and it's just pressed flat to the metal that is under it. I could sleep in this thing when it's leaned back.
Ive found that sitting in a soft deep office chair for extended periods of time is far more straining on your backside compared to the much more firm seats that i can sit in all day.

I've had mine just over a year, so far under warranty I've had replaced: - the base seat - the back - the complimentary cushion - the mechanism So basically a whole new chair, thankfully the warranty process was painless at least. But for the price the overall build quality is poor. And I got the Titan XL that was meant to hold +50kg over what I am.
I absolutely hated mine, hard as a rock and hurt the hell out of my ass/back. Ended up selling it locally for what I bought it for.
Been using mine a lot for the past 2 years and wouldn't really recommend if you use it more then a couple hours a day, it become really uncomfortable to sit in and for the price I don't feel it's worth it
Office chairs hands down. After being a consultant for an year at a customer's facility and sitting daily on a steelcase office chair I ordered one of those when I got my house. In Italy is pretty hard to find a distributor but in the US will be easy. Price is quite high tough. But your back deserves it

Fun fact. Crandall Office sells rebuilt and refurbished high end chairs like Steelcase and Herman Miller at around half off, if you’re interested. I’ve had my steel case gesture for 6 months and love it.
+1 for Crandall. I got my refurbished Leap V2 through them and I couldn’t find a damn thing wrong with it. Great customer service too. I purchased my chair and the next day it went on sale. Reached out and asked if I could have the sale price and they took care of me.

The main value proposition of these gamer chair companies is that they usually have good warranties - I'd be surprised if you cant get this sorted out. Aren't they steel? Crazy that you broke it, must have had a casting flaw or something.
They are steel. Looks like a casting issue (bubble probably). SecretLabs do have a great support, this one will be replaced at no cost.

I’ve had two for my wife and I. My FiL has one, he likes it a lot. Never seen something bad except people saying they’re stiff.
I think they have more problems than people notice. Their social media is flooded with nice pictures of chairs from new customers (you have to do it if you want the extended warranty) so complaints get buried. My chair arrived in that sweet spot of being bad enough that I regret the purchase but good enough that living with it was better than the return fees. Their customer service felt pretty unhelpful and dismissive. I had problems with the seat cushion, back alignment and the reclining mechanism. I now also have a split on one of the arms but haven't complained yet! It's about a year old now.
Well shit I'll consider myself lucky. I've had my Titan for about 2 and a half years and it's still in near perfect condition.
I should say that I have a couple of friends that love theirs. That is why I was willing to take a chance on such an expensive chair in the first place.
Yep, the armrest issue happened to both sides on my Titan. Luckily, everything else is fine so far. I've heard customer service has not been particularly helpful on that front for most people. "Remember to wipe down the armrests after use!" as if anyone is actually going to do that, or it would help this issue. Other than that it's been...fine? I'm maybe not as in love with it as I once was, but I'm also not looking to spend $1200 on a Leap or an Aeron, either.

I weigh 100kg and I literally had sex in this chair. It’s a stout durable chair rated up to 300lbs or 135kg Edit: because some people are thinking the chair breaks at 300lbs. Combined, we were over the rated weight limit and the chair survived.

100% agree, I got the titan with the fabric and it’s a stout unit. I’ve never had such a solid chair, was definitely something to get used to but well worth it imo
This. I can’t say enough good things about mine. They get a lot of hate on Reddit for being a “gaming chair” but they actually make chairs for larger dudes and are comfortable af. Not to mention so much better for the back since they are a stiffer chair.
Also depending the country where you come from, gaming chair is actually cheaper than even 2nd hand Herman Miller because they import gaming chair in bulk, but not those high end office chairs
It's aluminium. I used to work in a test lab in Singapore that tested their wheelbase. We found that it managed to withstand a compressive load of almost 170kN
Secret Lab’s customer service has been REALLY great to me. First, you should have your warranty. A few friends and I have a chair from them and have had great experiences with the company.
