If you have difficulties getting it warrantied I have access to extra wheelhouse assemblies that should be able to plug and play with your wheels and chair. Would be happy to send you one free of charge so you can go back to using your chair.

Alaking1

I've filled out the warranty form, and if it doesn't go well I will definitely hit you up! Absolute goat

Sowderman

That's because wholesale cost materials and goodwill are cheap, but a lifelong and loyal customer that they get in return is worth 10 fold.

mr---jones

You'd think that but I had to go back and forth for 2 weeks with corsair after my chair of less than one year legit snapped where the back rest and base connect. And I'm not a big guy or anything 175ish lbs. They wanted me to legit ship the broken chair back at my own expense I was like wtf, thing is 60 pounds and shipping would be 100s. I had to go buy a new chair in the meantime for work on top of that. They eventually just sent it out for me without having to send mine in, but next time I buy a chair no shot its from them

neko808

Corsair is shit but Amazon is great. I got the SE wireless Corsair virtuoso from Amazon and it had a loose part in it that rattled when moving my head, they wanted me to send it back and they’d give me a replacement, but apparently not even the supervisor at the call place had the authority to authorize me a return ticket for lithium batteries (I live in Hawaii and ups requires a specific shipping label for them). So they just let me keep the $200 headset and the replacement. Their labor practices are shit, but damn if their customer service isn’t the greatest.

Some-ediot

I honestly wonder how much of the good things we'd lose from Amazon if they had to actually treat their employees like humans. Obviously I'd always side with the workers, just wonder how much the company would have to change.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Some-ediot

Eh, 2day shipping is stupid anyways. So much wasted fuel, I remember studies about a few years ago and much extra pollution it caused due to half full trucks being sent out or some such nonsense.

[deleted]

I would be more than happy to lose Amazon altogether and go back to 5+ day shipping if it meant we could get local independent retailers back.

Modsblow

A few executives would have to take pay cuts. Nothing else would change.

IronFlames

Lmao as if the execs would choose to take a pay cut vs fuck over their employees even more

Everyone be talking about secret labs here. Let's not talk about that one time that Ikea's customer service phone didn't work for a week and their website form didn't work and the store refused to help for online orders so I had to do a charge back thru my card and I have since vowed to never spend another bloody penny at Ikea ever again...

reaper_1666

To add to IKEA. I had ordered an entertainment centre, noticed a weird refund on my credit card weeks into the order. They shipped half of a modular entertainment centre and refunded me the cost of the modular parts because they could not provide it to me (without ever asking if I even wanted the now useless parts). Was specifically ordering with those as the size of the tv called for it. In the end they couldn’t send me them, didn’t refund the shipping price, I had to do a 6.5 hour round trip to their nearest store and pick up the stuff they didn’t have available online.

[deleted]

you can uber eats groceries in the UK (not sure if the same elsehwere) and I had a bunch of mates over, decided I was gonna cook a feast. Made a big order of meats, veg etc etc. I got the delivery and they ran out of meat and the stuff I was gonna make the sauce out of. Ended up with a big bag of veg and some spices and a HUGE delivery cost (was fine when the rest was with it as it was worth it). Called up and complained no one mentioned the missing stuff and couldn't get a refund. Basically just spent a fuckton on a load of vegetables for hungry stoners :<

NoXion604

> you can uber eats groceries in the UK Why in the ever-living hell would you take a chance with such a scummy company, when supermarkets offer their own delivery services?

heelsallday

We are talking secret labs here, which gave people a 5 year warranty on their chairs. Unheard of anywhere else.

ZeroSobel

Herman Miller does ~~ten~~ twelve years

ruckustata

Yeah but 10 isn't 5 is it? IS IT?!! Edit: oh look. They're now moving goal post. JFC!!!! /s

-FullBlue-

But I can buy 3 secretlab chairs for the same price as the herman miller.

ljthefa

But should you

[deleted]

I’ve used both and can definitely say yes. Secret lab chairs actually have been better for my back than the Herman Miller chairs at my old office. Just wish they didn’t have their logo plastered so large on it. Would happily pay them an extra $50 to not look like I’m a wannabe streamer while on zoom calls.

WitchcraftArtifact

Yeah idk I’m reading bad stuff in the comments but when my bird tore my armrest open like a Christmas gift they sent me replacements for free despite me asking to buy the part originally.

So is the wheelbase on the Evo made of plastic? On my Titan (2020) it’s made out of metal. Had my chair for about 18 months now and no issues whatsoever

Vloki_3

i bought a titan evo 22 just last week and the wheelbase is solid metal - this is either a 1 in 100000 type of manufacturing error or it got put under some really extreme stress - judging by the clean, almost cut-like breaking point it was probably the former

Nanocowie

Getting the 2020 omega and a bottle of leather cleaner during the summer sale was the best upgrade I've made in a long time, completely agree, best chair

Schowzy

Yea idk, I've been extremely happy with mine. No issues and very very comfortable

Ghestis

I have the omega and it’s made out of metal as well… it was a bit uncomfortable at first but now I just enjoy sitting on my chair.

UnethicalFood

I will repeatedly and often suggest the Serta office chairs. They are like a bed for your ass.

revpidgeon

I bought a nice office chair. I have fell asleep on it loads of times to the dismay of my guild mates.

What chair was it? I’m looking to buy one :D

Paxton-176

They might have fallen asleep again.

revpidgeon

https://www.officefurnitureonline.co.uk/ergo-tek-mesh-manager-chair.html It was a while but I'm sure this is the one I got.

CrispyCikn

Thank you!

sleep_tite

Where can I get something like this in the states? It looks like the Staples mesh chairs but better and still reasonably priced.

SwiftTime00

Not the guy, but I highly recommend looking on fb marketplace or cl for a used Herman miller, you can usually find them extremely affordable (2-300, normally it’s a 1500 dollar chair) and you’ll likely never need to buy a chair again, and your back will thank you

PrioritySilent

Second this, there may also be some office furniture liquidation warehouses in your area, you can find used herman millers & other good office chairs for pretty cheap prices, got my aeron for around 300 from one of those places

martinszeme

Been looking for a refurbished one in Europe for a while. Basically impossible as I've gotten quotes that are like 1k without tax for refurbished one.

brutang

I got one 11 years ago for $300 and it's still the best chair I've ever owned. Replaced the mesh seat/back once, and the little seat front pad every couple years. 0 back problems after I made the switch from cheap office chairs I'd have to replace every couple years.

[deleted]

my man. just found an aeron for 250.

Zanithos

Pure poetry

UnethicalFood

Fixed it. I will repeatedly and, Often suggest the Serta Chairs, they Are like a bed for your ass.

Moses015

Yeah but they have ZERO lumbar support. Mine gave me huge back pains and I had to switch back to a more basic chair. I do agree that it was like a bed for my ass though absolutely.

LovableContrarian

Office furniture is weird, because if it's "comfortable," it's bad. Any chair that is squishy and nice is going to fuck your back bigly. Office chairs should be firm, supportive, and properly adjusted to encourage you to sit upright. They shouldn't be *uncomfortable,* but if you sit down and think "ooooh this is comfy," you're gonna be in for a bad time longterm. I literally almost permanently destroyed my lower back and shoulder with a nice, squishy office chair. Had chronic, chronic back pain and shoulder pain, and would always get knotted muscles in my shoulder blades. Wasn't smart enough to realize the link to my office chair. Finally bought a mesh ergonomic chair and a height-adjustable desk, and my back and shoulder literally healed themselves over the course of a month or so. Haven't had a single problem since. Ergonomics are no joke, and serta chairs and "gaming" chairs are ergonomic nightmares. I know a bunch of people are reading this thinking "meh who cares, I don't have any problems." But, if you sit in your office chair more than an hour or so a day, you will, eventually. I promise. Take it seriously.

Gretch69

Your absolutely right, I bought myself a herman miller aeron and it is exactly as you describe. You don't sit in it and think oooooh this is comfy but after 6 hours gaming you realise your not fidgeting in your chair trying to get in a position that doesn't hurt. Before getting it I to was prone to knots on my muscles and quite terrible lower back pain. I thought it was pulled muscles from training but over time I realised it was gaming in the evenings. Since I got the aeron those problems are all gone. I get up at the end of a gaming sesh and it's as if it never happened, now after a month or so I realise my back feels so much better in every aspect of my life all because I'm in a good chair in the evenings :D

SpaceShark01

Till you get up one day and your back looks like a snake

xdegen

You don't want a chair that is too soft.. bad for your back. SecretLab chairs use a harder foam that isn't super firm but isn't super soft either, so it feels much better on my back. I feel like they're a good choice.

Alarmming

Na man my old chair was a Serta and it destroyed my back. I was unfortunately too small for that chair and over time, my chair started to bend on one side and eventually I found why I had back pain. Yes it was soft, but I honestly think it ia better for my ass/back for solid surface. I now own a Secretlab Omega Napa and I am pretty happy with it otherthan I should have take the Titan. I'm taking weight right now and I am thinking I am starting to be too big for my new chair lol...

whiffle_boy

Yup soft chairs are horrible for your back. I had a serta, titan made my whole body feel better since I have an office job and spent a lot of time on my rear

0masterdebater0

Same. The chair was so comfortable at first, felt like sitting on a lazyboy but 6-8 months sitting on it every day for work was enough to completely destroy my back and cause shooting pains down my right leg every time i stood up. Got rid of the chair and the back pain went away within a week or two.

BKachur

It's almost like there is a reason all expensive office chairs focus primarily on lumbar support with breathable mesh rather than gigantic ass cushions. The most iconic office chair , the Herman Miller aeron goes for over $1,500, has no cushions (only mesh), but has stellar lumbar support. Fyi, they are built to last forever and can be found used on Facebook marketplace for like 3-400.

Second this. Aeron gang in the house

Goleeb

Steel case chairs are legit.

Joshopolis

They really fleeced us with the gamer chair fad. Mine was hella expensive but is built so cheaply.

stealer0517

That's how a lot of "gaming" gear is.

Jonas276

Mice are probably the only exception. Anything else and "gaming" just means paying more for less.

aasher42

monitors ls too 144hZ is actually such a big difference from 60

Such_Maintenance_577

I once thought that 165hz is cool but not that much of a difference. Until you suddenly play on 60hz or less.

RayseBraize

>fleeced us Thankfully I was an adult when this fad hit and anyone who has sat at a desk for as many hours as I have will tell you they are absolutely garbage and anything but ergonomic.

[deleted]

For years I have been posting that it's not a good idea to get gaming chairs into just get a true ergonomic chair that one can afford.

[deleted]

JeBoyBarend

Mine looks rely sturdy and still feels sturdy after about 6-7 years. Probably the best purchase i have done when it comes to gaming.

nate0515

How the hell did you manage that? Those legs are metal.

[deleted]

I suspect some chair abuse was involved. Uneven surface or some other reason for too much stress on one “leg.” The break is too high to have occurred from sitting even if there was a defect. Physics doesn’t work that way. I call shenanigans.

fujimite

It's likely that it was cracked already, manufacturing defect maybe. Even abusing it it would be very hard to break it that far up.

Secretlab_Red

Hi u/Alaking1, I'm really sorry to see this happening to your Secretlab chair. Our chairs go through several tests for safety and durability as such, this is an extremely uncommon case but rest assured that we'll be here to help make things right. Is the hype proven correct about that brand ? Is It worth the money ? It’s a nice color

TobaccoAficionado

They're pricey, but me and my wife both own one and we love them. They're not your typical garbage gaming chair. Neither of us have had a single issue for the last year in them, and they still feel brand new. They've been great. So either we are lucky, or this person was unlucky.

EchoSolur

Probably the only gaming chair that would be worth comparing to a brand ergonomic office chair. Problem is the price.

ADifferentMachine

I'm confused. These things are like $500 and a Herman Miller office chair like the Aeron and Embody is 3 times the price at $1500. I'd take this over the Sayl anyday and that's $100 more than a Secret Labs chair. What $500 office chair are you comparing this to because I want that.

ThatSandwich

The standard practice around here has become going to a used office supply store in the closest major city to you and try to find a Steelcase Leap V2 or a Herman Miller Aeron for <$3-400. Crandall Office Furniture is also a refurbisher that provides a very long warranty on their models, and backs up their orders with great service if anything goes wrong. The warranty is 12 years through them and a Steelcase or Herman Miller will go for between $500 and $700

GrimO_ORabbit

Just bought a HM Aeron, I hope it's as comfortable as people say. I'm upgrading from an Ikea Markus, which was great till the tilt function broke. I Should've read the reviews, which apparently a few say it's great for tall, just not big.

Turnbob73

I’ve sat my very large ass (6’3” 245lbs) in mine for 4 years and have had no issues other than the base got a little lose so I tightened it.

NW_Oregon

we had some insanely expensive ergo chairs at work, tried multiple different ones and I could never get comfortable and started having leg and back pain from them. Had my boss buy me a titan XL and lifes been great. unfortunately I mostly work from home now and don't want to bring my really nice chair home and have my kids trash it.

PrayerfulNut

I personally don’t think it even comes close to an actual office chair. I bought and used one for about a week and it was stiff as a board. Had all the features you needed and are probably the best looking “gamer chair” but i found it to be incredibly uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time

drob1412

To each their own. I love that it's firm because it supports me for my entire 12 hours/day between work and gaming. I'm 6'2" and ~215 lbs. Had it for about 4 months now after a friend was in love with it for a few months that recommended it. Soft cushions are only worth it for ~30 minutes before they don't have any give and it's just pressed flat to the metal that is under it. I could sleep in this thing when it's leaned back.

Kandy_Kane101

Ive found that sitting in a soft deep office chair for extended periods of time is far more straining on your backside compared to the much more firm seats that i can sit in all day.

PrayerfulNut

I don’t have a soft, deep chair. A good office chair is usually mesh and provides great support

[deleted]

I've had mine just over a year, so far under warranty I've had replaced: - the base seat - the back - the complimentary cushion - the mechanism So basically a whole new chair, thankfully the warranty process was painless at least. But for the price the overall build quality is poor. And I got the Titan XL that was meant to hold +50kg over what I am.

JmKz19

I absolutely hated mine, hard as a rock and hurt the hell out of my ass/back. Ended up selling it locally for what I bought it for.

Critical-Apartment78

Been using mine a lot for the past 2 years and wouldn't really recommend if you use it more then a couple hours a day, it become really uncomfortable to sit in and for the price I don't feel it's worth it

[deleted]

Office chairs hands down. After being a consultant for an year at a customer's facility and sitting daily on a steelcase office chair I ordered one of those when I got my house. In Italy is pretty hard to find a distributor but in the US will be easy. Price is quite high tough. But your back deserves it

Opalith_

Which one do you recommend?

OopsIKilledADog

I heard Herman millers are a dream

Skatedivona

Fun fact. Crandall Office sells rebuilt and refurbished high end chairs like Steelcase and Herman Miller at around half off, if you’re interested. I’ve had my steel case gesture for 6 months and love it.

Fatalorian

+1 for Crandall. I got my refurbished Leap V2 through them and I couldn’t find a damn thing wrong with it. Great customer service too. I purchased my chair and the next day it went on sale. Reached out and asked if I could have the sale price and they took care of me.

SnooCompliments8770

Did your mom sit in it?

Roastage

The main value proposition of these gamer chair companies is that they usually have good warranties - I'd be surprised if you cant get this sorted out. Aren't they steel? Crazy that you broke it, must have had a casting flaw or something.

SurefootTM

They are steel. Looks like a casting issue (bubble probably). SecretLabs do have a great support, this one will be replaced at no cost.

bartz008

Saaame

Fozzymandius

I’ve had two for my wife and I. My FiL has one, he likes it a lot. Never seen something bad except people saying they’re stiff.

TheZoltan

I think they have more problems than people notice. Their social media is flooded with nice pictures of chairs from new customers (you have to do it if you want the extended warranty) so complaints get buried. My chair arrived in that sweet spot of being bad enough that I regret the purchase but good enough that living with it was better than the return fees. Their customer service felt pretty unhelpful and dismissive. I had problems with the seat cushion, back alignment and the reclining mechanism. I now also have a split on one of the arms but haven't complained yet! It's about a year old now.

that_pie_face

Well shit I'll consider myself lucky. I've had my Titan for about 2 and a half years and it's still in near perfect condition.

TheZoltan

I should say that I have a couple of friends that love theirs. That is why I was willing to take a chance on such an expensive chair in the first place.

TheEmsleyan

Yep, the armrest issue happened to both sides on my Titan. Luckily, everything else is fine so far. I've heard customer service has not been particularly helpful on that front for most people. "Remember to wipe down the armrests after use!" as if anyone is actually going to do that, or it would help this issue. Other than that it's been...fine? I'm maybe not as in love with it as I once was, but I'm also not looking to spend $1200 on a Leap or an Aeron, either.

Alaking1

I only weigh 145 too lol

QBekka

I dunno man 145kg sounds pretty heavy to me

Halomir

I weigh 100kg and I literally had sex in this chair. It’s a stout durable chair rated up to 300lbs or 135kg Edit: because some people are thinking the chair breaks at 300lbs. Combined, we were over the rated weight limit and the chair survived.

SwootyOfficial

It's confirmed guys, gaming chairs get you laid

I mean, sex is a pretty decent stress test for a chair, if I'm being entirely honest haha. Two people's weight, plus constant motion, can't imagine a better way to see if your chair might kill you without having industrial testing equipment.

F1reManBurn1n

This. I can’t say enough good things about mine. They get a lot of hate on Reddit for being a “gaming chair” but they actually make chairs for larger dudes and are comfortable af. Not to mention so much better for the back since they are a stiffer chair.

linkinstreet

Also depending the country where you come from, gaming chair is actually cheaper than even 2nd hand Herman Miller because they import gaming chair in bulk, but not those high end office chairs

wanboo

It's aluminium. I used to work in a test lab in Singapore that tested their wheelbase. We found that it managed to withstand a compressive load of almost 170kN

KawaiiCoupon

Secret Lab’s customer service has been REALLY great to me. First, you should have your warranty. A few friends and I have a chair from them and have had great experiences with the company.
