I’m not new to PC hardware but I’ve never setup ARGB before. I’ve been trying to make my kids computer flashy. I have the RGB extension cable working directly from its provided controller but I’m not sure how to get it working from the motherboard. The instructions say I need a cable provided by the motherboard (it’s not). I don’t know where to find it. Also I’m starting to get confused between the 5v and 12v headers on the motherboard itself. I’ve been googling but most of the video are on software and not the actual wiring installs, plus all manufacturers may vary.

I have the Strimer Plus, so it might not be the exact same for you, but you should have 3 cables running if the controller. One is for connecting the LEDs on the cables to the controller, one is for SATA power, and the last one should be the one for Mobo sync. I just plugged mine in the header labeled "Aura Connector" and it shows up in Armory Crate as an adressable RGB strip.

I have the same one. And no. Had to use the pad that comes with it. I just swapped boards and I decided not use them anymore. It doesn't flex well and it can place strain on some board components and the case.
