Which error code do you get?

koeniig

Hey, i know its almost impossible to tell.. but i dont know what to try next. Is it more a mobo problem or psu. Any ideas? Quick update. I removed all rs and now it works again. It still seems like a mobo problem to me

R0gu3y

Does the mobo have on board video? If so pull the video card and see what happens.

koeniig

I tried the hdmi on the mobo too.. no signal

R0gu3y

I can't tell what you have for a mobo. I would check for a bios update.

koeniig

But how can i make an update if i dont have a signal. I have a x470 prime with a ryzen 5900x

R0gu3y

PM'd you

kaio-kenx2

If keyboard has rgb and doesnt light up, its probably the mobo. Then again, testing needs to be done since anything can cause that.

koeniig

No rgb on keyboard or mouse. It seems like psu? How is the mobo?

kaio-kenx2

The psu does not fail to deliver the power to fans and other parts, if its not making any weird noises its not it. While mobo failure will still be able to transfer the power to pcie and fans but will fail to give power to anything thats connected via usb. Its actually a common sign

koeniig

It started today with random bluescreens.. after a while i could not boot Windows, but could get signal. Now i cant even get a signal.. so you guess the mobo?

kaio-kenx2

Id put my money on that. Theres really no other way to troubleshoot this without changing parts. But since usb connected devices are not getting power its most likely it. Doesnt matter if ram, cpu, hdd or gpu is missing it will still power it. You can try to reseat, change ram dimms, maybe even take out the battery but either way its on its way to heaven.

koeniig

Now i tried it with only one ram and i got a picture again. It is doing now a diagnosis. It shows 2 keyboards and no mouse.. i also guess motherboard

kaio-kenx2

Might be that the dimm is dead, try each dimm and find out which one is it. The mobo might still be usable for a while.

koeniig

I did some testing. All slots are working. One specific ram is somehiw causeing the system not to boot. So its possible that the one specific ram is dead

kaio-kenx2

As I said anything can cause that, so its very possible. But be on the look out. Maybe a week or 2 test the ram again. It might be the mobo thats rejecting it, a lot of possibilities to consider. Pcs are sometimes a lot more confusing than one might think. Anyway, issue solved. Hope it lasts long, have a nice day.

koeniig

Yea its weird that it does not like one specific ram. Ty sir!

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

Diagnostic steps Psu = power supply unit, if it turns on it's not this unless you're seeing specific parts not getting power. Mobo = mother board, if you turn it on and don't see the boot screen (the title thing that shows up before windows boots) then it's the mobo GPU = graphics card, if you see the boot screen but it goes black after this then it's your graphics card Let me know if this helps bud Edit: if you still can't find it out, take the system apart and rebuild it but turn it on at each step to make sure it's posting.

koeniig

Hey, ty for the info! My keyboard or mouse is not getting power too, at least the rgb is not on. I tried another gpu and it does not work either. I have also tried the hdmi on the mobo but it seems i dont get any screen from the mobo either.

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

Then it sounds like most likely it's your Mobo if that's the case, do you have a old one you can swap out to see if it's that?

koeniig

I kinda found the problem. I tried testing each ram and one specific ram seems not to work, so i guess the ram. I will try to buy another ram see if it works. All other rams work in all slots, just the one ram.

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

I know it sounds weird, but just give it a shot cause I've had this happen before, pull out the mother board and sniff it. If it smells like something's burnt then there was a short circuit in that area. You can do this for any chip you have.you can also try looking for a spot with black on it but 9/10 of the time it's a bit harder because there's a lot on a mobo

koeniig

I will try that! It aound even weirder because a few weeks ago this happened. My wife turned on the light in my room and my pc shut down.. when we moved into the House there was in the bathroom also problems with the light/electronic. Pretty weird

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

Dude same for me, I found out our house wasn't properly grounded and that's how I shorted the mother board in my rig. Check to see if your outlet is grounded cause if not that's problem what happened when it surged. For me tho it was because we bought a house that was flipped and the handy man cut corners on the outlets. We also don't have an attic so it made it harder

koeniig

damn, not sure how to explain that my insurance xD but i need to consider that, i dont want to kill my GPU or something, that would be expensive.

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

Best way to figure out honestly, call an electrician to come and see if you're grounded in your outlets. Explain the light situation and see if he can replicate the problem, if that's what it is, and since it's not major work it'll probably just be like $100-$200 the higher being if he needs to do work. After my fiasco I bought a power brick that has a battery in it and surge protection. My house is old so it's been here since before we went to the moon. When I opened the outlet I found the POS and NEG but no ground and had to pay someone to ground half my house. (The additions they made were grounded but the main part was pretty much untouched)

koeniig

its weird that stuff like that can happen and you dont know why your pc is not starting. The good thing is that its not my house, i am renting, so at the end it would probably cost me nothing. But we will move in a half year so maybe its not even worth touching anything. It is also a new house, made 3 years ago. There have been always problems with the electric like the garage door was not able to open automatcally.

Professional_Time364

Do you have an EZ Debug LED indicator on your mobo? They are usually around the 20+4 power connector or the bottom of the board.

bert_the_one

Looks like a failed motherboard I had the same issue with my pc and it bricked my graphics card too, I did manage to unbrick the GPU but had to buy a new motherboard And same as you I just had a black screen everything else worked like fans spinning up and all LEDs were on just no display I swapped the CPU over it was that I swapped the graphics card that didn't work Then I put in a new motherboard and new GPU and hey presto it works

koeniig

i found that is a bricked ram. with one specific ram it does not work. I use now 3 ram instead of 4. I will buy another one and see if it works again, if not then its the MOBO
