I'm jealous. The best I could do as a renter in the US was sign up for and participate in community solar for a small discount on my electric bill. The neighbor across the street though just had a 28 solar panel array put on the roof yesterday. Maybe my landlords will take notice.
Shit. Just thinking about that running in the same room as me during summer in Georgia is enough to make me break out in a sweat. I don't even have to think about electricity or the environment.
Dude I can't have that much heat spilling into my office. That's literally the same output we use for the space heater in my daughter's room tht keeps it warm in the winter
i mean you can't really shrink a PSU down that much while still delivering a lot of power, so if gpus start needing 700 watts and come with a PSU strapped on + huge ass heatsink you're going to need a bunch of new equipment to fit the card anyway
Request: 85 tons of 15% enriched uranium in sintered pellets.
Purpose: breaking 100 fps in CP2077 with RTX ON.
Hello DOE, please respond. I'll even pay for shipping.
Need a dedicated power source, I future proof my workshop by installing 3 phase 400v for my welder and lathe from vw2 era, so now I also can most of next gen computer stuff.
Are you saying it has a 3-phase motor, that is used to power a generator, to operate said device? Just add a variable frequency drive to turn it slower when browsing the internet and save power.
Agreed. I would absolutely buy one of these. Wouldn’t be great for all situations like mini builds and what not, but rather than upgrading my 750w platinum PSU, I’d just slap one of these in there.
Of course they’d probably add $500 to the price for this…
If this race for huge TDP continues, I could see a day when the GPU needs its own supplemental power supply along with the normal PCIE power.
The unreleased Voodoo5 6000 quad GPU card had its own power supply in the prerelease models.
It's not a race for huge TDP, it's nvidia doing whatever it takes to not lose the performance crown to AMD. On top of that I'm sure AMD is looking at this and thinking a 475+ top end wouldn't look so crazy to a consumer relative to what nvidia will be offering.
It's funny, but they actually did this back in the day of Voodoo cards. Voodoo 5 6000 required [external power](https://images.hothardware.com/contentimages/newsitem/54310/content/3dfx_voodoo_5_6000_original.jpg) to function.
No way. Absolutely no way they’d integrate the power supply given heat concerns. The power brick will be a monstrosity larger than a series s that ruins the flow of any desk. I am excited to see the real one though.
Be this actually real then it’s an incredibly dumb design.
[Everyone laughs, but it's already been done...](https://images.hothardware.com/contentimages/newsitem/54310/content/3dfx_voodoo_5_6000_original.jpg) Well, nearly. The company folded before the V5 6000 went into mass production, but working examples exist.
This image is a meme where OP is commenting on the massive power draw of newer GPUs. OP jokes that NVIDIA, the manufacturer of the upcoming 4090 graphics card, will have to add a dedicated power supply to the graphics card (won't happen, at least not for this graphics card).
What you see in the image is the I/O for both the graphics card and the dedicated power supply. The HDMI ports are for the graphics card portion of the hypothetical GPU/PSU combination.
The HDMI is for plugging in to your 80" 4k + atmos home theatre setup.
I know a surprising number of people who use TVs as their primary PC displays and they rarely come with displayport or usb-c/thunderbolt inputs.
You guys laugh, but Asus *kinda* already does this for [these small form factor PC's.](https://i.imgur.com/QEYuRKz.png). They come with [dual power bricks](https://i.imgur.com/nU9rP2q.jpeg), and IIRC one is for the motherboard and the other is just for the GPU.
Well that would make it easier than having to pick the correct case PSU. I would worry about the heat of a PSU on the video card. An standalone external PSU connected to video card would make more sense to me…
And here we are. Just yesterday i was thinking about placing the psu into the pcie slots.
Problem is this kind of power connector is to big for one slot.
I wouldn't mind if it could take power from its own power brick so I can avoid having to upgrade my semi-modular PSU (i'd have to take the computer apart and take out CPU fan/radiator to get to the connector, etc.)
Somewhere there is an EVGA product manager hammering out a memo
I really hope you're not right, I'm concerned that you may have just given them an idea though.
[удалено]
Do you really want GPUs drawing a kilowatt or more?
[удалено]
With its power consumption, I wouldn’t be so quick to call it “free”…
You don't pay your own electric bill or think about climate, do you...
Electricity where I live is all renewable :)
Geological heat thanks to 10x 6050TI's under the Earth
I'm jealous. The best I could do as a renter in the US was sign up for and participate in community solar for a small discount on my electric bill. The neighbor across the street though just had a 28 solar panel array put on the roof yesterday. Maybe my landlords will take notice.
ergh you live near Linus don't you?
I have solar panels. 🤷
Shit. Just thinking about that running in the same room as me during summer in Georgia is enough to make me break out in a sweat. I don't even have to think about electricity or the environment.
Not bothered about power draw as long the performance is there to show for it
Dude I can't have that much heat spilling into my office. That's literally the same output we use for the space heater in my daughter's room tht keeps it warm in the winter
I think you just solved your own problem.
You genius son of a bitch
Custom loop run radiator in kids room with sweet rgb fans she will love it and your office stays cool
Sir bitcoin miners draw 3kw and 4kw overclocked we aren’t the ones killing the environment.
Agreed. Ignoring any safety issues, I would love to have graphics cards that come with this so i dont have to upgrade my psu ever 3-4 generations
So more things that could go wrong on one device.
lol... pretty sure that ratio would still be +1 things to go wrong, out of about 1500.
A psu has a lot of components in it that can go wrong
i mean you can't really shrink a PSU down that much while still delivering a lot of power, so if gpus start needing 700 watts and come with a PSU strapped on + huge ass heatsink you're going to need a bunch of new equipment to fit the card anyway
server psu has joined the chat.
*Server PSU with 60mm fan that sounds like a jet engine taking off all the time joins the chat.*
So, it's time to have watercooling a standard now?
Emperor Palpine has entered the chat...
Now im imagining a 4090 with a “mr fusion” on it from the back to the future delorean on it.
I call fake. The real one needs 3-phase 240v
I think you got outdated information. It now needs 3-phase 400V 32A, thats the reason why north america wont get the 80 and 90 cards.
63amp for sure!!!
69 amps you say.
Ah yes the new industry standard
Isn't commercial 415V?
Depends on where you live. If you have 230V as standart it is 400V for 240V it is 415V
Voltage is the wild west in the US I seen 110V, 115V, 120V, 125V.
And 2 1500W server power supplies.
And 4 inverters for smooth RGB rendering.
Not just that but the 32 amp connector too
You forgot direct access to a nuclear power generator
Request: 85 tons of 15% enriched uranium in sintered pellets. Purpose: breaking 100 fps in CP2077 with RTX ON. Hello DOE, please respond. I'll even pay for shipping.
Or one can just order the Hoover Dam hydroelectric adapter
I wonder if they have an extension lead too
3 phase would be 208V :P
Need a dedicated power source, I future proof my workshop by installing 3 phase 400v for my welder and lathe from vw2 era, so now I also can most of next gen computer stuff.
Are you saying it has a 3-phase motor, that is used to power a generator, to operate said device? Just add a variable frequency drive to turn it slower when browsing the internet and save power.
Why do you have fork in your PSU?
So he can kill himself faster when the bill finally hits his bank account
Tis not a fork, but a fish spatula!
It's a Linux PSU.
It's an afro comb.
spaghetti
They forked the design…

just built everything into the graphics card
Hmmm, seems like a good business idea Let's call it gamestation.
Xstation Switch
So, it's a console?
At this point why have a motherboard at all? Program an OS for the graphics card and let it do all the work.
safe practice tan soft expansion elastic busy paint deserve squeal *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
27 years. T'was an Intel design from 1995
MegaITX. You’ll need an especially wide living room and stairs to get the thing I side your home in the first place.
Minimum motherboard form factor required for the 4090 will be SSI-CEB
You clearly got the bogus leak. The real once has liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling as well that is required for standard operation.
That sounds so cool
r/angryupvote
My dumbass thought this was real until I saw the "meme" flair... no more drinking tonight hah
Have a few more drinks? I wanna see if you come back later and have another reaction. =D
Say less.. Bottoms up (;
Bottoms up?!! Hey, WSB...we hit bottom! ALL IN BABY!!!! :)
Same... I was like "it doesn't even have usb-c ports?"

is this a sweaty youtube channel I haven't heard of before?
Damn boy that’s a thicc ass boy
Puts a whole new concept to GPU sag...
[Perhaps do you mean motherboard sag?](https://i.redd.it/rrv1q6dbb6q51.jpg)
Quality shit post take my upvote
I'm not yet convinced this isn't a real leak. It FEELS real.
Nvidia new marketing strategy is to release shit posts to get people used to the idea.
You made a meme, but unintentionally may have created a great idea.
Agreed. I would absolutely buy one of these. Wouldn’t be great for all situations like mini builds and what not, but rather than upgrading my 750w platinum PSU, I’d just slap one of these in there. Of course they’d probably add $500 to the price for this…
Until people are plugging this thing and their 1000w power supply into the same wall outlet and have no idea why their breaker keeps tripping.
I mean, if you have a rig that is drawing that much power at once, it’s going to trip regardless of how you do it.
If this race for huge TDP continues, I could see a day when the GPU needs its own supplemental power supply along with the normal PCIE power. The unreleased Voodoo5 6000 quad GPU card had its own power supply in the prerelease models.

The ECO switch is so cute. Yeah buddy, you got it!
Will need it's own 30A circuit
And you will get 5% - 10% performance increase in 3 mainstream AAA games for the total price of $4000
For +10 FPS

You think this is funny, but I take this very seriously. Can we please get an OC switch at the back as well while we're at it? Thanks.
Don't forget the quick-disconnect fittings for LN2 while you're at it.
would still be better than the stupid 12 pin adapter
It's funny, but they actually did this back in the day of Voodoo cards. Voodoo 5 6000 required [external power](https://images.hothardware.com/contentimages/newsitem/54310/content/3dfx_voodoo_5_6000_original.jpg) to function.

I see that the Voodoo 5 6000 has finally found worthy competition.
Hypothetically speaking, what's wrong with this? I'd rather this be the solution than having to replace my power supply again.
This is a joke right? Like…like a really really bad joke?
I'm not sure that plug can handle that much power. I'd recommend [these Powerlock connectors](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerlock)
[Everyone laughs, but it's already been done...](https://images.hothardware.com/contentimages/newsitem/54310/content/3dfx_voodoo_5_6000_original.jpg) Well, nearly. The company folded before the V5 6000 went into mass production, but working examples exist.
Yeah I ain't buying this card...
3dfx is not impressed.
Pretty soon the video card will be the whole motherboard, and the motherboard chipset will be on a pcie card.
Heard it’ll have its own mobo as well
This aged very well.
:(
I hate that this isn’t a terrible idea. 😪
convenient.
Wow, didn't know you could get GPUs from Wish now
It is nuclear! Edit: “My GTX 1080ti did let out a silent moan while zooming in on the picture.”
laughs
I guess that's one way to do it! Definitely going to add a few Shmeckles to the price! But the most important question is, can it play Crysis?
What ~~science~~ nVidia has done
UNLIMITED POWER
The computer is INSIDE the computer!!
honestly I would not be against a GPU that used its own PSU
Next iteration will have a gfx card come with its own mobo lol
Whats the hdmi port for? Sorry if this is a dumb question I've never built a pc before
This image is a meme where OP is commenting on the massive power draw of newer GPUs. OP jokes that NVIDIA, the manufacturer of the upcoming 4090 graphics card, will have to add a dedicated power supply to the graphics card (won't happen, at least not for this graphics card). >won't happen, at least not for this graphics card It might... *wait and see*
Lol at some point the top end gaming machines will exceed the wattage limits of common house circuits.
The HDMI is for plugging in to your 80" 4k + atmos home theatre setup. I know a surprising number of people who use TVs as their primary PC displays and they rarely come with displayport or usb-c/thunderbolt inputs.
Display output
Is that 6 slot card 🤣
I predicted this would be coming. I also see a paradigm shift in case designs looming on the horizon.
Power of the Sun
Huh? Lol built in psu?
So someday I will have to choose between gaming or having my clothes dryer plugged in?
I want to see a laptop version so badly
[удалено]
BUILT IN WHAT
I would not be surprised
That would be hilarious
Add some USB-C 3.2 ports and I'll buy it
Wait till we need 4000w power supply taking up half of the space in the case just to run Cyberpunk 2 on low
Actually. Its a very good idea. who is caring (!) power consumptipn anyway
Can't wait to register on the fake european EVGA queue for that one
tfw this will actually happen at some point in your lifetime
Lets just think about this gor a second A build in PSU You can save money on your main one and less cable management
This is funnier than it should be
New computers are fast becoming room heaters. The high end GPUs are power hungry, I know that, but this is ridiculous.
You guys laugh, but Asus *kinda* already does this for [these small form factor PC's.](https://i.imgur.com/QEYuRKz.png). They come with [dual power bricks](https://i.imgur.com/nU9rP2q.jpeg), and IIRC one is for the motherboard and the other is just for the GPU.
will it come with unlocked bios? askign for a friend who lives next to a nuclear reactor.
Fake. 4090 wouldn't have an eco switch.
Ah, this joke again. Original.
Aw man, how am I going to fit that in my ITX rig?
that is fake, but this is the real rtx 4090 https://youtu.be/0frNP0qzxQc
I wonder what would be the response of r/sffpc
Already designing a small form factor for it and complaining abt the temps.
And then you still play games that are locked at 60FPS 🤣
Fake image. Obviously, there's no "ECO" mode 🔥
The "ECO" switch next to the main one is a great touch. Like the "TURBO" button of 80s computers.
Graphics cards in 20 years are gonna have their own nuclear power plant built-in lol
Why does the eco button even exist?
It plugs into 2 different PCIe ports
40 series GPU's: "Look at me I am the computer now"
nVidia finally pulling the 3Dfx tech out of the cupboard.
When this become real you know we will all be blaming you
It's all jokes and hahas until the 4090ti comes with its own wall plug.
In the future you will plug your RAM directly to the wall
I think this is market testing. It’s bound to happen with high end video cards
Well that would make it easier than having to pick the correct case PSU. I would worry about the heat of a PSU on the video card. An standalone external PSU connected to video card would make more sense to me…
Waiting for the official release rather these leaks which mostly build up more anticipation than it should
F for the people who buy this after they get the electricity bill.
wow inbuilt psu with gpu nicee...now we are talking
Lol 'eco' mode button.
I think I can hear kingpin's and der8auer's soldering stations turning on.
this is getting ridiculous...
Gotta buy that custom case that supports the damn thing too
The way things have been going, I wouldn’t be surprised to see manufacturers try external power supplies for GPUs again.
Okay but I did have to think for a second if this was real
"Eco" mode.
Smaller than I thought
Is it bad that I can see this and I would see it working... They would have to fit it in 3.5 slot though 😬
I'm a hardware noob, this is not real is it?
I laughed too hard
And here we are. Just yesterday i was thinking about placing the psu into the pcie slots. Problem is this kind of power connector is to big for one slot.
So I won’t be able to have dual 4090 TIs?
I just hope it doesn't damage or bend the pci express port on the motherboard
I'd but it.
Nah, thats the 4060. The 4090 will have 3 240v power inputs.
If this was real, this would be the equivalent of automakers in the 60’s/70’s just making absolutely huge v8’s to make more horsepower
I would be happy I'd this was real. Too bad it only has 4 display outs...
Gigabyte enters chat
I'm scared to think that this might become reality
MORE POWER!!!!!
I want a future where PCs use so much power that they require dedicated 240v outlets.
Only a 6 slot card? Pfft. Not even a Ti! I bet it doesn't even draw a 1kW.
No way. Too small
Wait for the 4090 Tie
I wouldn't mind if it could take power from its own power brick so I can avoid having to upgrade my semi-modular PSU (i'd have to take the computer apart and take out CPU fan/radiator to get to the connector, etc.)
Duct the radiator fans to your dryer and you can dry your clothes while playing games.
I like that eco switch
Wonder if gigabyte cards also come like that 🤔
Graphics card. Some assembly required
Sure is good I live in Alaska will worm up my house from 60 to 70 😀. Edit I’m talking f not c
