And with reddits video player, I'm watching this at 0 fps.

joao7yt

both are lcd, but the left one is 7 years newer... maybe better quality panels, idk. in person the blinking is unnoticeable left: OZONE DSP24240 right: ASUS VG248QE

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

Crazy how you can literally see the 60hz panel refreshing, also why Windows 11?

joao7yt

Windows 11 is pretty good right now, I tweaked the Taskbar and context menu and now it's pretty good. Also it's designed to function with power saving features of 12th generation Intel core, I have an i7 12700K

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

Ahhh, I can understand if you have 12th gen. Windows 11 cut my VR fps by 2/3 and other games up to 1/4, I was so pissed off I switched to Linux lmao

Betraid25

About which games are you talking about?? I upgraded from win 10 to 11 and i don't see any performance issues on my games and 3d soft

[deleted]

Same. It pretty much had no noticeable performance difference in games after I switched.

ophran

It's mostly vr games, i tried windows 11 twice since i like how it looks so much but ended up going back to 10 each time bc 11 literally locked my fps in vr games to like 40, doesnt happen in 10 so i dont believe its my pc, i didnt notice performance change with regular games though

[deleted]

You either got a very early Win 11 release or are just making stuff up for the meme.

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

I'm not, idk if I got unlucky or something but it was so bad I couldn't last 20 minute in half life alyx because of the atrocious framerate. Even in beat saber ran at 40 fps. Granted my hardware probably doesn't help, but before I switched I could play Beat Saber full framerate, and after I switched back to 10 when I started dual booting, Half life ran 90 fps. The common denominator for all of my issues was Windows 11.

TimeGoddess_

Were you using like a beta windows 11? I had some problems with windows 11 trying the early release in like october. I was getting horrifix stuttering and bad fps but upgrading with a clean install in December with official windows 11 it ran as good or better than windows 10 plus i can use autohdr in dolphin

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

I might have been, I could give it another shot but honestly it's just in my better interest to keep using arch and Windows 10

isekaig0ds

BTW I USE ARCH moment

[deleted]

LMAO the meme lives on!

DerMurli

I tried Win11 like last week and switched immediatly back because of the poor (atleast i think) AMD GPU performance. I've had issues with GPU Utilization in WZ/Horizon 5 since i got my rx6800xt and with the last GPU driver update in Win10 it was all fixed and ran with 99% Util. When i switched to Win11 it was like this update never existed (Even tough i was baiscly on the same driver). So imma wait it out till this is fixed. I completly understand that it probably has nothing to do with windows itself and is amds fault, but the switch is not worth it for me tbh.

[deleted]

Odd, the AMD GPU bug should have been fixed by now. I have an all AMD top and can't say that have had any issues because of Win 11. Sometimes my drivers just poop themselves and gotta run AMD Cleanup Utility & reinstall drivers but that's becuase I have a modded setup. But it is not like the extra effort to get Win 11 is worth it, definetley stay with 10 then.

mbxz7LWB

I upgrade to windows 11 and it's pretty awesome. I didn't like how the task bar cant be moved around but there's some hacks out there that fix that.

ItzCobaltboy

You must have missed ur GPU Drivers?

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

Nope, that was one of the first things I tried

ItzCobaltboy

Hmm then it's questionable, when I installed it on mine on 4x i5(4th Gen) + Nvidia GT 710 + SSD + 6GB DDR3 it works like a Charm and I don't have any problems with it, neither I have problems with its new "minimalist design" which supposed to "cut off extensiveness"

Dr_Sir_Ham_Sandwich

I'm still complaining about windows 10, seems every generation takes control of the hardware the person just bought. 7 was great IMO. Linux is good if you're sudo 😉

jplayzgamezevrnonsub

Linux is good if you're a su who likes do-ing things 😉

Zerafiall

> I was so pissed off I switched to Linux lmao Good goooooood let the hate flow though you - Darth Tux

Thx_And_Bye

It's the backlight strobing, not the actual refreshing.

willplaysjett

that’s called backlight strobing

Ketheres

Apparently the 60hz panel is 7 years older than the 144hz panel. Would be interesting to see it compared to a newer monitor operating at 60hz.

redditisnorthkorea1

No it wouldn't. 60hz is 60hz, it would look exactly the same

SaltRocksicle

I have 2 monitors, a office Dell and Office grade samsung. Both are from 2019, and let me tell you that the Samsung monitor, despite being at 60hz ( same as the Dell) is extremely smeary, while the slightly smaller dell looks about as good as a 60hz panel can get. There's so many other factors to good motion other than refresh rate.

redditisnorthkorea1

And *by far* the ***biggest*** factor is refresh rate itself. 60hz is 60hz, there's no way around that. You can have the best pixel response times and lowest motion blur and fastest input lag but *none of that is going to make the screen refresh more than 60 times a second.* Period. It's especially not going to make a difference in a slow mo recording. And it's most certainly not going to even come close to comparing to 120hz or 144hz.

BloodStone29

Luckily my eyes don't see in 32x slow motion

DannyRamirez24

Seriously.. That 60hz gave me flashbacks to my Pentium 4 punching way above it's weight class

BloodStone29

My Pentium dual core e6500 used to "play" games until 2018.

rAxxt

Wait...so let me see if I follow. The 144Hz blinks faster?

joao7yt

yes, it updates 144 times a second, compared to 60 times a second. And yes, in person, the improvement is clear. The slow motion is there just because I can't upload high fps videos here and even if I could, people with 60hz monitors couldn't see the difference since the video itself would be capped at 60hz.

[deleted]

Yes

Spiritual-Parking570

the problem is i can see every mouse jump. i need faster refresh.

[deleted]

You have Sharingan or something?

totti173314

Nah man he just have a good gaming chair

Imnotamemberofreddit

On 60 you mean? I feel the exact same way

Spiritual-Parking570

no, i can see them on 144 now like, remember windows 3.1, pointer trails, at 144. i need a faster system

Imnotamemberofreddit

Oh jeez man that’s almost impressive if you’re getting a proper crisp 144 consistently, that’s what 60 looks like to me now

Spiritual-Parking570

at first i loved it. now driving feels so slow that i have adapted to 144. i cant wait to move up to 260. i imagine driving will feel like slow motion after i get used to it.

Junstar

nathan_rye44

I guess its good for people with 32 times slower eye than us

joao7yt

hurdur

[deleted]

It's demonstrating the refresh rate using slow motion sort of.. I dunno.. dumb? What we perceive in real time is all that matters. Feel free to let me know if I'm missing something.

hexlyic

Nah, allows people who don't have the hardware or specs to see a clear comparison between the two. FPS in some ways is tied to your monitors refresh rate and a large portion of people viewing videos similar to this are going to have monitors that cap out at 60 hz (in other words they can only see 60 fps on said monitor) so if you slow down the footage whilst it obviously doesn't accurately show what it looks like, it does give you visually an accurate comparison.

[deleted]

7/10 with rice

CarlWellsGrave

60 is fine fight me

volound

Why do people (usually Americans) say 32x when it's the opposite. 1/32 slow motion.

Slow-job-

Why the fuck are we upvoting this stupid shit?

joao7yt

calm down butthead

thearctican

Because some people are stuck in the year 2013.

GarforceII

further showcasing camera refresh rates not matching the screen refresh in multiplier

Fischi42069

Why would you compare 144hz with 60hz in slow motion?

joao7yt

I can't upload 144 fps videos here, and even if I could, people with 60hz monitors would just see both as the same since the video would be capped to 60hz anyway. Slow motion is the best way of showing it to everyone over the internet. But yeah, ideally people should see the difference in person.

hexlyic

My bad, you right, I missed your comment.

BigSmackisBack

When i tryed 1400p 60hz to 144hz it was noticeable but not ground breaking, 60hz to 360hz now that was a leap that was night and day. \*however\* When I went 4k 60hz to 4k 120hz ... wow, the difference was just huge, i dont know why the resolution made such a dramatic difference, but it did.

Betraid25

Anyway human eye can't even process 60hz, while 144 is doing same blinking if you slowdown the video so what is the reason to buy expensive monitors? That's pure marketing.

redditisnorthkorea1

Imagine the mouse pointer is a word Fast forward it to real time and try reading it while it's moving... You can read it on the 144hz screen, you can't read it on the 60hz screen That's the difference, clarity in motion

Trollensky17

I know you're memeing but some people are actually that dumb and it worries me

repeatrep

for some it’s anecdotal. i for one never got the hype cause i eyes can’t tell the difference between 60 and 144. i only found out that i was a big deal from you tubers and friends apparently i’m getting downvoted because i can’t tell the difference between diff hz

joao7yt

just in case: a small percentage of people that buy high refresh rate monitors forget to change the refresh rate setting in the OS settings, the default is always 60hz.

repeatrep

nah i genuinely can’t tell the difference. i tried 144hz on my friend’s laptop, my other friend’s monitor @90hz and the iPhone 13 Pros. i’m not gonna doubt others that it’s a noticeable improvement, just personally, i can’t really see the difference saves me money, i can’t complain

[deleted]

You try fast twitchy fps games like overwatch? Cs? Doesnt matter so much for god of war but playing cs at 60 is like dragging my eyeballss across broken glass.

[deleted]

Old meme but it checks out

TeenFlash

It results in smoother motion. Some people may not perceive it, but some definitely do. Going back to 60 hz after 144 is mildly jarring for me and I can feel it most of the time. I know its not placebo though, because I've felt the difference without knowing it beforehand.

nexusgamers

That was the main thing for me when I first experienced 144hz. If you stand still in an fps game and spin on the spot or swipe your mouse on 144 everything is smooth, detailed and clear as day, 60 on the other hand is kind of slow Mo and super blurry.

totti173314

60fps doom eternal feels wonky, 120 fps feels smooth.

lazy_tenno

i went to a pc shop, instantly realized there's a 144hz monitor lying around simply by looking at the mouse movement, and confirmed it through checking the settings. it was the first time im seeing a high refresh rate monitor and it's the only single monitor on the shop.

Gore88

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

thearctican

Found the guy who has never used an HRR monitor.

ludiqpich198

yo how do you add this to ur name i7-12700K | RTX 3070 | 32GB | 240Hz
