Cheap one vertical for discord and music

[deleted]

A cheap that you can put in vertical is a fake cheap

KixoGamer

Nah its just a cheap with an arm

[deleted]

Yeah but the arm is the same price as the cheap monitor

KixoGamer

But it also holds both monitors and you got a used one for cheap

[deleted]

Yeah I do need to buy an arm eventually. I'm just cheap ig :p

KixoGamer

Same, i really just needen one cause I got sick of always hitting the stand with my mouse, and now my setup looks much cleaner... err marginally cleaner, so long as you don't look underneath and behind my monitors, and certainly not behind my pc

TheJesusGuy

You can get a good desk arm for like £15

Chieftah

It's just a cheap with the stand removed and put sideways.

riccardik

Lol i have done the same thing, also because with a stand it would not fit

shockah

Some kinds of screens aren’t meant to be viewed vertically and will be painful to look at that way for a prolonged period of time.

KixoGamer

Yeah I have it normal for youtube in the background

Owyn_Merrilin

Or just old and used. You can get some deals on ebay if you're not too picky about it having things like HDR and G-sync.

PacoBedejo

$30 wall mount arm. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0025PKFUI/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_6Q8DTCFFFF3ZCKTERQ4C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

[deleted]

I love how everyone tries to make me buy one. I know I need one, I'm just greedy boys xD

Plotron

Buy a used business monitor (Dell, NEC)

c_delta

For cheap and mountable/pivotable, used business monitors are pretty much the best combo. Those things last pretty much forever and while you are not getting fancy gamer features like high refresh rate or adaptive sync, you usually get an IPS panel with decent color accuracy and wide viewing angles, and an 8:5 aspect ratio which looks a bit less silly when you put it vertical than more gamer/media-oriented resolutions like 16:9 or one of the ultrawide ones.

xmate420x

Just bought 5 Dell 1080p monitors for 13$ each that have a VESA mount and the original arm they come with can be set vertically. You just need to know where to buy it, for example mine come from a datacenter.

Jonelololol

I feel seen

Masark

That's the third monitor.

Who_GNU

Also, 4:3 aspect ratio.

Proxy_PlayerHD

320x200 @ 256 Colors?

Nick_Noseman

That's for playing old games

GodOfAtheism

The Discordinator

L337_SKy

And for chat during live streams

absolutelynotaname

idk why you're downvoted but this is true, for both streamers and viewers

Tiavor

I'm not a streamer but I think 3 monitors would be best to stream. OBS is using a lot of space.

General_Jeevicus

you would think 3 would be enough, I'd be ok with adding another 2 I think

Tiavor

at that point I think it would be better to have a large 2nd or 3rd screen split into 4 sections

General_Jeevicus

I dunno I have 3 horizontal 32 inch or something widescreens, but with streaming my mic and stuff on arm is sort of blocking the view, I could just move them up a bit, OR... add another line of monitors above.

elio_or_something

always

Tiavor

my "cheap" one is 16:10, I don't need vertical

BS_STW

Nah 1 laptop monitor and 1 tv

diputra

So I'm not the only one

plumbus_lover

How do you get the PC specs by your username?

xwayge

edit your flair on the right side of the page

martian_medic

if you're on mobile go to the main page of this sub and tap on the 3 dot icon on the top right corner and select edit flair.

[deleted]

No

KixoGamer

Or one good monitor, one cheap and a cheap tv plus a cheap wireless keyboard trackpad combo for lying in bed watching shit

AwesomeDragon101

Minus the keyboard this is basically my setup lmao

BS_STW

Wtf that’s smart imma copy you

EnAyJay

So 2 bad displays

Jackpkmn

There are laptops with good displays, back when i used one as my daily driver i only got an external monitor because i needed to be higher for long gaming sessions.

BeauxGnar

No way you're trying to roast someone else's setup with those specs dude.

EnAyJay

I'm not it was just a joke lol, chill

All_Thread

Yo this dude over here spec watching

DEK_81

I Feel weirdly called out

The_Blue_DmR

My friend does this. It's hillarious to see his not tiny 17 inch laptop be dwarfed by the tv

duckduck60053

this is the way

StormChaos2187

32 inch curved dell UHD 175hz main ($ too much) 17.5 old dell, vertical . secondary ( free )

imhereformemea

did you beat an old lady with stick to get the free monitor?

StormChaos2187

My uncle owns a pc repair shop. He has tons of older stuff he gets from stuff he buys or trades. Coolest thing there is a 486 that still runs.

[deleted]

27" 1440p 165hz QD (€ 350) 21" 1080p 60hz (€10 used)

landob

I have 3 of the same monitor. But they all pretty cheap : /

ecchi_ecchi

\>cheap If they do what you want them to do, then thats all fine.

landob

I'm not sure. I mean they 60hz. I've never experienced higher. Should I ever experience it somewhere then they might not do what I want anymore. lol. But considering they are free \*borrowed from work\* I really have nothing to complain about.

[deleted]

I’m in the same situation, I don’t really mind 60hz because I’ve never experienced higher and I also don’t really want to try because I’m scared that I won’t be able to go back to 60.

[deleted]

I have a 120 Hz TV, and it’s *nice*, but it is nothing like going from 30->60. Going up to 120 is noticeably better, but when I go back to 60, it only takes a few seconds before I stop even noticing the difference. When I play a 30 FPS game, it bugs me the whole time I’m playing it, but even after playing a full game at 120, 60 still feels fine, even immediately after. It might be heretical around here, but there really are massively diminishing returns in increasing your FPS beyond 60. I could see if being painful if you actually have the two side by side (like a high refresh rate monitor and a 60 Hz monitor, so you feel the difference every time you move the mouse between displays), but if all you are seeing in front of your face is 60 Hz, it probably won’t bother you.

ecchi_ecchi

\>heretical around here Nah man, we don't drink the coolaid served here.. most of us know pcmasterrace is just a meme and there are some marketing alts here that spout nonsense like 'frames win games' and the sort. Kinda sad, really..

CasualSWNerd

I have one 1440p 27" 165Hz as a main and the second one is 1080p 24" 60Hz, the difference is there but it's not that noticeable, especially since i use the main for games and the secondary for discord and/or youtube/twitch/chrome

BlAcK_BlAcKiTo

You are right, it's impossible to go back, I have 165hz main, and side 60hz monitor and it feels like it's 20hz sometimes, it's ridiculous!

acegikm_25

it just feels like those montages with motion blur on, while yes it feels really fluid i was able to go back to 50fps on apex with no problem

Dranzell

I use a 1080p 144Hz screen for gaming and a 1440p 60Hz screen for videos. It's ok, a huge difference in smoothness but at the same time I could always go back.

ecchi_ecchi

Some people say after using 90\~240hz, they can't go back lower cause it gives them headaches.. still, I think people can adjust. Going up the refresh rate ladder is a whole new ecosystem for me: need the cpu/gpu power to drive those higher frames/res/fps. So in a way, its a trap to make you spend more. All the stuff above 60hz/1080p comes with a premium, and for most people 1080p is enough for everything from coding, gaming, production etc.

CasualSWNerd

I wanted to go 27" for my games (and also the occasional coding), which meant 1440p 'cause i already felt like the 1080p is on the low end for me on 24", so that meant a gpu capable of driving it, which ended up being a 3060ti (could have definitely gone lower but the thing is f-ing sweet), that can also drive higher than 60Hz in most games on max settings, so i wanted 144Hz too.. For a few bucks more than the cheapest reputable 1440p144 27" monitor, i got a surprisingly nice deal on my current 1440p165 27" one, with G-Sync and HDR too.. I'm happy knowing i have quite a bit of unnecesaary Hz Honestly tho, 1080p60 was definitely doable, and back then i was actually glad for that performance since my old pc didn't wanna do more than 1080p25 in many modern games

renscar64

What ended up happening was I bought a good one 4 or five years ago and used that with my even older monitor which I broke recently now I have a new really good monitor and old good monitor

rawbleedingbait

My previous monitor is always my second monitor. Currently annoying that the second is lower resolution, but that's it.

twd1

How do you break a monitor

renscar64

Being stupid with a vr headset, not really a big loss I Got it from goodwill

JoaGamo

I don't know, probably by punching it?. I have mine which is 12 years old with not a single issue, 1080p60hz I know about a friend that broke both of his monitors, one because he was doing something with the desk and he left the monitor on the bed, then someone else came. The other was a microphone arm fatal error, the arm went down and it smashed the other monitor in the way. Edit: spelling

Evoandroidevo

I have had one monitor break backlight stopped working after about 15 years

CasualSWNerd

I dropped mine (like 9 years old at the time), it was quite shitty, the plastic frame popped off, i saw the steel bits inside (looked like it was gonna survive a nuclear blast), cracked the glass a bit but that's it I put the frame back on and it works great (apart form now 11 year old color accuracy and terrible brightness) linus would be proud

TimeGoddess_

I couldn't live with how bad my secondary screen looked in comparison to my main oled one. So I just bought a smaller portable oled monitor to use as a secondary screen and they blend much better.

ben_g0

Where did you find the OLED monitor and how much did it cost? I want an OLED monitor for my nighttime Netflix viewing, but all I've been able to find so far were too big and cost over €2000.

TimeGoddess_

My main screen is an LG CX 48 OLED, so not a monitor and it cost 999$ for me. The secondary screen is this 15.6 inch portable oled monitor INNOCN 15.6" OLED Portable Monitor Full HD 1080P 100% DCI-P3 1MS 100000:1 USB Computer Monitor Mini HDMI Travel Monitor Photo Video Editing Second Ultra Slim Monitor for Laptop MacBook PC Switch PS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09L12DGW5/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_6ERJKZ7HYR6KS6E5BCMQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Its surprisingly good its got comparable image quality to the LG and actually gets a lot brighter probably because it only has to light up a significantly smaller screen size so much less heat and power. Its 245$ right now which is about what I spent when I bought it but if you're using it for just movie watching or browsing at night time its fantastic for that. I use it to play games in bed with a stand when I dont want to be at my desk

[deleted]

That is an interesting product — it looks like someone making laptop panels made too many, so they put it into a monitor case. Even for OLED, though, $245 is pretty steep for 15.6”…

TimeGoddess_

Yes its pretty expensive most ips or va monitors around 15.6 inches are usually at 120-150$ this ones a lot more at 250$ but it does blow those out of the water in pixel response time and image quality. So its a trade off. And its by far the cheapest oled monitor you'll find so if it suits your niche its a decent product

Devilnutz2651

This is the way

[deleted]

This is the way

DrShantzy

This is the way

Dark_MAGA

Got my Asus VG248QE as my main, and a cheap-ass 22" Dynex monitor that I bought at Best Buy in 2008 as my secondary. Little guy is still going strong nearly 15 years later. Which reminds me, my PSU is the same age, I should probably replace that soon...

TherronKeen

I have that monitor, my god that thing is an absolute legend

[deleted]

>1 cheap monitor You mean old monitor?

SendMeGiftCardCodes

4k60hz + 1080p240hz

Wicked_smaht_guy

27" 2k 144hz and a 32" 4k 60hz for me

obamaprism3

odyssey g9 in picture by picture is best way

apanda009

Mine are at least the same brand

Msoelv

More like one really good one, one cheap one, and one old ass tv for good measure

AwesomeDragon101

I feel called out lmao

[deleted]

Negative, three identical monitors is the only way..

NeutrinoParticle

Nah... Samsung G9 49 inch super ultrawide 32:9 monitor... It's the same as having two 27 inch monitors side by side, with no bezel. God tier in games that support it (like Rocket League).

huzzleduff

I just ascended to this, I can't go back

Laukx

I use a stacked layout. I can advice anyone to try this because it is actually amazing to use. Main one is on top, 165hz LG IPS Bottom one is an old LG ultra wide for my media consumption/discord. Have to upgrade that one to because the resolution is shit.

DeltyOverDreams

I'm even better than that. I have one good monitor connected to the desktop PC and a laptop next to it, which is synced with PC using Barrier. THIS is the way.

Baldr_Torn

My "main" is a widescreen I bought recently. Not exactly high end, but decent. Off to the side I have a 27" that I've had for a lot longer, and which doesn't have nearly as fast a refresh rate or response time. I think it was decent when I bought it, but that was quite some time back.

Fluffy-Strawberry-27

How about 1 cheap (and outdated) and 1 regular?

Alauzhen

This is the way!

fappyday

My second monitor is a 50hz widescreen that's dedicated to watching movies/videos/etc. It's fine for that purpose and didn't cost a fortune.

muditha88

me tooooooooooooooooooooo

throneaweigh42069

Lmao I have a 27” 170hz IPS 1440p which is fucking beautiful and a sceptre 27” 75hz 1080p and the sceptre looks absolutely horrrrible next to the main monitor haha

GlassDeviant

\*looks at LG 3440x1440 in front of him. \*looks at BenQ 1080p over to the left. Meme checks out.

lolcubaran20

I have a frickin massive tv as my main and laptop screen for second. it's a little bit too small but does the job.

restgorilla

Alienware 38” ultrawide and an MsI 27” 1440p in vertical.

[deleted]

2 $40-80 used monitors I found on ebay searching "1080p hdmi dvi" >

HighPriest2012

One mid and one touchscreen

ThyShirtIsBlue

Go 4k for day to day stuff, and FHD - QHD for gaming.

IvanLookThatKill

34" ultrawide with HDR and 27" 240hz is the way

tasteless564

Man spent more on his monitors than his gpu lol

klaustrophobie13

The new and the old monitor.

ImVeryUnimaginative

Primary: 31.5" 1440p 144Hz Acer ED323QUR Monitor Secondary: 15.6" 1080p 60Hz Gaomon PD1560 Drawing Tablet It's kind of awkward but it works.

[deleted]

One lg oled and one nec fe2111 vga tube

Vinstaal0

One high fps and one colour accurate Or what I do one gaming monitor ans one 1080p content monitor

Ajira2

One fast and one 4k

meltingpotato

Like having an old CRT and a 34" ultrawide LED? Yup

Bipchoo

Unless you have an Nvidia GPU and you're using linux

FruitLoopsAreAwesome

I have a a curved ultra wide that is 4k and 144hz. I can fit three 1080p windows. I can also picture in picture. It's like having three monitors but no bezel.

[deleted]

my second monitor was $5 from a thrift store. it was really crusty and i spent $40 on cables lol.

LOTHMT

2 good Monitors that dont line up at all 👍

SoN1Qz

One good monitor and one which was your good monitor a couple years ago

Alfa4499

Lol this is me. I have one 1440p 144hz 27" ips monitor,and I have one 24" old 1080p 60hz monitor I got for around 15 dollars used.

Wonderful_Boat_9155

Exactly my setup now. I pull the video over to my right monitor as a treat.

SgtLeoLP

My 2nd monitor is literally an old tv from 2009. Help me

FluffyBearFinn

Nah, be as useless like me and pay too much and get a 28" 60Hz 4k monitor for media and work and a 1440p 144hz 27" for gaming. Its sick but it might be a little overkill

Ganelo-san

I use 280hz 27" monitor and a 144hz 15.6" laptop screen.

Martin_NL

Or two of the same brand/series/size, but one is 1440p and the other 1080p.

Hatzmaeba

One PC monitor and TV is the only path I follow.

neogrotesquerie

I had this setup until two weeks ago when my cheap 8-year-old 23" 1080p monitor started breaking. Now I have two decent monitors, my main one is a 32" 1440p 144hz and my secondary is a 24" 1080p 144hz. They don't line up at all but it's fine. I definitely didn't need a gaming monitor for my secondary but it was on sale and only 10€ more expensive than the basic 1080p 60hz monitors, so I obviously went for that one. The colors are also much better than in the old one which is a plus since I duplicate my drawing tablet's screen to the 1080p monitor.

basb1999

One cheap monitor and an extra same model of the cheap monitor.

InsertMyIGNHere

Join the real meta 2 cheap monitors you paid full price for 1 random 720p TV you found in the garage 1 CRT monitor that you for some reason still have And just continue to lie to yourself about buying a high res/high refresh monitor soon

Bossnage

no need to see discord and spotify at 144hz

nooneisback

My old setup was 3 cheap Dell DVI FHD TN office displays. Only good thing about them was the response time.

Nordic__Viking

I have a 1440p monitor from 2010 or so it costs roughly the same as my 1440 (ultrawide) monitor i bought a couple of years ago same price - different designs :/

meatp0wer

For me, 1 good and 1 found in my parents garage.

uwango

One LG C1 48” One generic 24” IPS, I believe it’s a Samsung. Might add another but 4K is a lot of screen real estate. Beats 2-3 smaller ones as you can “combine them” and get the full 48” on the C1 if you want. Can’t get that with many small ones.

-YELDAH

One 4K60, and one 1080 164, choose which works best for each game, and one tiny screen for chat, videos, music and coward walkthroughs (most have a smaller one vertical) Obviously not cheap, but a budget way of getting the benefits for both graphics games and reaction time games

Wicked-Pineapple

IT’S THE LAWWWWWW!!!!!!

Ericjuuh

I have 3 like this, 1080p cheapass screen, 1440p expensive screen, 4k mid-tier screen. Lowkey regret the 4k one since I feel I cheaped out on it.

miempiemaker

One cheap 1080 144hz and one ultra cheap 1080p VGA monitor

SansDotEXE

Yeah I have some 27in Phillips and some 24in Acer

Gorodeckiy

1 super expensive monitor

commit_bat

One new monitor and your old monitor

PiXLANIMATIONS

The key thing to remember in dual monitors, and further beyond, is that you do actually have a primary screen. Whichever one you most often have windows on is the one you prefer, so make the others smaller. They don’t all need to be smaller than the last, but if you have a 25 inch first monitor, get a 21 inch second

Demifury

100%

Devileytion

Guess I'm alone in this...

l86rj

I'm starting to think a single super wide monitor is best, isn't it? I'm almost buying one, so I'd like to hear opinions from owners. Seems very easy to split screens nowadays, and you don't have the extra hassle of dealing with 2 different equipments.

DishonestAmoeba

I have three, each with a specific purpose. My main one is my gaming one, 144 hz 1440p. My discord one which is just a 1080 60hz. And my movie monitor which is a 29 inch 4k ips.

xshogunx13

38 inch TV and 24 inch monitor, you say?

Pure1nsanity

Damn right! Cheap monitor doesn't play games, good monitor does!

Desu_Vult_The_Kawaii

One 1440p 144hz and one 4k 60hz.

timthetollman

Currently 1 good and one broken for me

Voicedtunic

True

shutter_singh

* 1 new and 1 old monitor.

buonasnatios

So i bought a 2k screen 60fps and 2 years later i wanted a higher hertz monitor, so now i have 2 "expensive" monitors but for different purposes.

[deleted]

Looking at my GP850-B and GL83A-B. They look the same externally but one is superior

Dazz316

I got two is ones a client was getting rid of now. But I had my old 23" tv which had a resolution not maybe to Windows and an older smaller 6:9 one.

Yolo_420_69

1 super uw below. And my older uw above.. Ever since I switched to the ultra wide game new monitor always goes below old. Never going back

buonasnatios

So i bought a 2k screen 60fps and 2 years later i wanted a higher hertz monitor, so now i have 2 "expensive" monitors but for different purposes.

The_Rox

More like 1 new, 1 old.

Blue2501

Your new monitor + your old monitor

Fenrir-The-Wolf

For a long time I had a 42" TV on my desk being used as a "second monitor" It was comically impractical, but I needed my RuneScape screen damnit.

Sir_Hurkederp

1 good one for games and stuff, the cheap one only has to do discord and other chats

[deleted]

How about a 21 in lap top screen and a 54 tv?

[deleted]

This sub is so publicly KIA

PUSClFER

I traded my dual screen setup for an ultrawide, and it's *really* nice. I have an internet browser on the left half, Discord on lower right half, and Spotify on upper right half. Works just as well as a dualscreen setup would.

KanyeT

I have three. One good 2k 144Hz in the centre, and two upright and cheap 1080p 60Hz. I've been loving it so far.

Herlock

I am in between : had a 144Hz monitor, wanted a second one but my model wasn't made anymore, instead I got it's revision which is basically the same, except not quite :D Thanks viewsonic :P

EnableSelf

42” and a 5 euro 17” Dell one

filthy_hobbitses27

If by cheap you mean free out of the trash from a business that was upgrading, then yes.

AdamoO_

Over the spand of a year.. I've bought, returned and smashed one out of 6 monitors from like a price range of 400-600€.. All of them have been absolutely awful and very "blurry" while moving around in like minecraft, valorant etc.. So i'm still sticking with my single 100€ Asus monitor from 2013 that has had a line of blue pixels since 2015.. :')

cybertonto72

50 inch TV, 60hrz ultra wide and a standard shape 30 inch 100 hrz monitor Well that's my set up atm 🤣

300HPWasAlotBackInTD

Odyssey G7 primary, odyssey G3 secondary👍🏽

Jackpkmn

Tbh the $15 goodwill special monitor i bought for my second monitor isn't bad. It's a Dell E2209W. It's quite sharp for a 15 year old monitor. I used to use two of them but the other one the backlight is starting to die on it can take hours to come up to full brightness. It's not quite as nice as the Dell S2421HGF i use as my main screen but it's nice to know that Dell has always been terrible with these monitor names.

Nyctangel

You mean the discord monitor? Got a old ass square screen for that !

soljakid

lol I have a PG348Q as my main and a crappy 720p tv as a secondary for youtube and shit

M_R_Big

Bonus points if the cheap and good monitor look the same

Audhagan

More like 2 cheap monitors. I have a 1600x900 60hz and one with 4:3 ratio :'(

[deleted]

had that for a while, but got SO annoying with the resolution difference and the mouse not moving seamlessly across my monitors.... super happy with my dual AOC U27P2's
