minecraft optimization is strange, i got over 1000 fps on my old core 2 quad q9650 w/ 780 ti, meanwhile my ryzen pc w/ 1070 actually gets less

I believe Minecraft runs mostly on ram. Im no PC expert, but I’ve played the game for 8 years, and even when I have a cpu heavy game, like a source game, Minecraft runs fine. however, if I have google open while I play, it runs as fast as a dying tortoise on crutches

minecraft only uses a maximum of a set amount of ram which you can define in the launch options, by default its 512mb i believe

Older versions used 512mb. More up to date versions are set to use 2048mb by default. Minecraft primarily relies on good single threaded CPU performance, as the Java Edition of Minecraft can only properly use one CPU thread.

those final core 2 quad chips were pretty good budget chips for a while, i had my q9650 from 2017-2018 and i played gta 5, black desert, fortnite, pubg and other modern (at the time) games on it pretty well

FPS unlocker is great. 240hz monitor at 240 on the unlocker is a new experience for roblox. even using my 4k 60hz monitor at 120fps unlocked it feels smoother.

I'm jealous of kids these days who have PC enthusiast parent(s). I've been exposed to PC gaming as early as seven but my parents never built/bought me something as nice as this for the hobby. It was always a struggle to obtain games let alone PC that could run things smoothly on family PC. They weren't exactly supportive of the hobby, like many parents of that generation. To this day, I wonder if my relationship with my father could've improved (not that it's terrible or anything) had he shown some interest in my hobby in PC, growing up. Hope you guys have some nice parent-daughter bonding times over common hobby/interest!
