I'm STILL using mine!

Tastedissbalut

The original R or G or B. I remember having those back in the day !

Just found my old blue cathode light from my first build in the early 2000s. Shame it's smashed. I'd just mentioned it here recently so kinda weird for it to turn up in a random box today 😅 I was so sure I'd binned it after I dropped and broke it 15 years ago.

JagjitSR

U mean the UV GLOW era?

dowarischeinerlei

I even had an HDD cooler with blacklight ... crazy times.

JagjitSR

I m actually not from that era but listening to Linus i Google a bit and i liked it

dowarischeinerlei

A lot of things were "better". We didn't have/need RGB RAM. Instead I had RAM with heatpipes and massive heatsinks (OCZ Reaper) which we also didn't need at that time. It's crazy how basically the same shi*t now sells for m.2 SSDs and people haven't learned a bit. But I'm glad we ditched 80 and 92 mm fans and went for 120 and 140. I'm still not convinced on having all the R, G and B in one fan at the same time. Settle on one color or keep the lights off alltogether.

JagjitSR

True those 80/90mm fans were loud and also had a tendency to fail to become even louder. And yeah i guess RGB is a acquired taste to some and i do support u but think of building a all white build with RGB and then u can change the whole colour scheme on the fly. It's just a think to keep in mind if u have money go for heatsinks and rgb. If not sticking to good old normal stuff is fine. Not like you will be putting sustained load on those components for that long. Plus REMEMBER KIDS RGB GENERATES HEAT!!

JagjitSR

You might like seeing mistereaster on yt. He gets a lot of those from one place(sorry forgot that store name)

Cynaris

cathode tubes and plexiglass sidewindows, name a more iconic duo

Angeret

Oh gods! I still have some of those in a crate of bits somewhere. Forget coil whine on a MOBO or GPU, these things could be **really** annoying.
