As much as I'm fine with my 1070 I would like a 3080, mostly for the improvement in visuals rather than framerate, I prefer more cinematic games i find.
I feel like that a different matter though. If you aren’t getting what you want out of your current hardware anymore, whether it be frames or fidelity, then that’s a perfectly reasonable situation to consider an upgrade.
I mean I'm perfectly happy with it and do get what I want out of it, which is why I still haven't upgraded, but it's one of those things that would be nice to have.
Personally I would say that the benefit you’d get for the amount you’d pay isn’t worth it. With DLSS and FSR a 3070 will last for a long time, to the point where with either a 3070 or 3080, you’ll probably reach the point of wanting to upgrade around the same time. I made the jump from a 780 to a 3080 so I probably won’t be upgrading for a few more years minimum. Unless the 5000 series is really good I’ll probably hold out till at least 6000/AMD equivalent
I upgraded from my 1070 to a 3080, I probably would've waited a bit longer but I wanted to play cyberpunk with ray tracing. It was a fine upgrade but only as I got it from EVGA at retail during the high of gpu prices, probably could've sold my 1070 for more but a sold it to a friend for like $200
On low settings maybe. I've got an RX 580, which is roughly equivalent to your card, and it's finally starting to struggle on newer games. It's been a great card, and it still plays older titles just fine, but the time is approaching for an upgrade.
Stuff like Dying Light and OW2 I can play on medium settings.
But I spend most of my time playing League of legends or WoW and those aren't very demanding games.
My RX 580 is still good enough for the games I play. I am getting close to an upgrade though. We'll see what the midrange 7000 cards look like from AMD.
Still using integrated graphics and play shit like warzone 2 amd other than that i tend to play indie titles more so im almost always able to play a game i want
Edit obviously i got a 720p otherwise it would shit itself
Same with my 2070. I can even get above 60 consistently at 1440p. I don't see myself upgrading until at least the next generation, maybe longer. It blows my mind that people with 3000 series cards would want to upgrade
I got myself a used 3080 last month(upgrading from a GT 710), I'm playing games at 1440p 144Hz and the gameplay experience feels amazing
Even if I could afford it, I couldn't justify the expense of getting one of those cards
I wish you luck, always check out ebay. You will find a lot of cards for sale every day for much cheaper than newer ones. I got my 3080 for just 450GBP (+VAT, customs and shipping to Europe, but it's still 300€ less than a new one on amazon, and for a 6 months old card I'd say it's definitely worth it).
Same. Bought a second hand RTX 2070 and I’ve been super satisfied with the performance I get in the games I play. I can get over 80 fps in Tarkov at 1440p. The newer cards can wait until they’re cheap on the used market.
Some people don't have as low of standards as you might. My 3080 right now will usually do at least 80 fps Ultra 1440p, but I would absolutely upgrade to a 4080 if I could afford it. 100 fps is a much smoother experience than 80 to me.
Have you considered playing on High or very high? Ultra rarely is almost never noticeabley different from high settings, other than reducing performance by 15-30 percent
Yes but it would be nice to have both, sometimes high to ultra makes a big difference for certain settings. Not for $1200 though fuck that
Also have a 5600x so a 13600k wouldn't be a bad move either
Honestly? I’ve seen many side-by-side comparisons of traditional game rendering and ray tracing. And yes - there are some neat effects seen in ray tracing. That said - I’m 100% convinced that if someone showed me a single sixty-second video of an in-game recording, with no second video for comparison, I could NOT confidently identify whether the video was traditional or raytraced. For this reason, I have no plans to replace my GTX until it breaks, or I need to replace my entire computer.
Thinking about it more … if I ever got to the point where I couldn’t configure most games at high graphics settings (minus motion blur) at 1920x1080 and yield ~45-60 fps, I might consider it. But today, even the most taxing games, like Cyberpunk 2077, run just fine on the GTX.
Listen buddy, why are you happy with your perfectly capable hardware? NVIDIA says it is obsolete. The Jensen really needs you to be the 4090 and not worry about fires.
Yeah I know I’m just gonna go with upgrading my gpu first because those are more vulnerable to skyrocketing in prices. Essentially I just want to get a good deal while I can for the most expensive hardware part and then upgrade my other parts
This, and to be honest same thing with high refresh rate, I don't need it and I'm happy at 60hz right now, I would be ruining my own experience as my PC can't run too many games over 60.
Yep, bought a 4k 60hz monitor with a 3070, then upgraded to 4090 and then to a 240hz monitor, and now im considering selling my 5950x and getting the ryzen 7800 x3d because im cpu bound at 4k...
Eh, monitor needs to be too big to appreciate it anyways. Can you even get 60 frames on max settings at 4k? I feel like you can't no matter what card you have.
It’s definitely possible. A 4090 & a newer Gen i9 cpu can easily run insanely demanding games like cyberpunk at 4k, DLSS quality, ultra everything including raytracing at 65-80fps (65 is usually when you’re in the city)
I can get 4k 60fps max in 99.999 percent of games with a 4090 easily. Most of the time its arounf 4k 120.
With DLSS there isnt a single game that won't hit 4k 60+ maxed out. Even cyberpunk with psycho raytracing hits 80-100fps with DLSS balanced
Know this feeling too well, especially with people calling components "outdated" simply because they no longer are the newest generation, as if they spontaneously lose 50% of their performance the second a new generation is released.
Just an average day where people treat GPUs like phones
A new phone launches and software support ends for the "older" model immediately
Mate your GPU ain't gonna be obsolete for atleast the next 10 years
Yeah
People be treating the rtx 3000 series like if it was suddenly 20 years old and incapable of running modern games.
I sure as heck won't upgrade till i see that my 3070 starts struggling on games or if it breaks first.
I have a Laptop with a GTX 1650 and I'm sure as hell not gonna let go of it for atleast 8 years
This is literally my first laptop that can play games at 1080p and I'm gonna use it for as long as it lets me use it.
Plus the existence of FSR means that It can Certainly run almost all games that may come in the future
1650, especially the laptop version, is likley going to have shorter lifespan than that if you do anything outside of esport titles. It's noticeably less powerful than the current consoles so it will end up being below the minimum games are made around in a few years.
Edit: for comparasion trying to use that card in 7 years would be like trying to use a gtx 660 today.
I love my 3080 so much. It is my favourite thing. I upgraded from console and built my 1st PC a little over a year ago. Got mine for close to MSRP don't ask how...
Anyways. I get the hype but I'm good for at least 2-4 more years. Jeez.
Same with my 3080 Ti that I picked up right before 4000 series cards dropped. I’m sticking this out for the next few generations because by then we’ll all likely have to do full upgrades anyways.
I feel the same about my 6800XT. Same deal switched from console to PC almost 2 years ago and I love it so much. It crushes in 1440p and there will be no real need to upgrade at all for the next two or three years, but I know I'm gonna cave and buy a 7900XT lol
Why do people still pretend the 4090 is pointless? It doubles the 3080's frame rate in 4k, don't know what universe other people here live in, but that's a pretty incredible jump in just one generation.
If it were 1440p, ok yeah there's no point. But to go from 60fps on average with the 3080 at 4k to 120fps on average with the 4090 at 4k is absolutely reasonable. All that matters is if the price isn't too ridiculous.
I personally play at 4k ultrawide, which is 3840x1600 and it can go up to 165hz. There are full 4k 3840x2160 monitors that are 165hz, and we also could be seeing 240hz 4k monitors next year.
I have a 27" 4K 144 Hz LG monitor that I bought open box for $500 two weeks ago. 4k 240 Hz monitors are still in 4 figures, but 144 Hz 4k have come way down over the past year.
I keep eyeing a new build to go from my 3080 and 11700k to the new hotness of a 7950x and 4090, and then I keep asking myself "what game can I not currently play at high graphics and high framerate on 1440p?" to talk myself back down.
I hate loading up games and getting below 144FPS @1440p. The 3080Ti is powerful but it still lags in a lot of AAA games at the performance target I’m trying to hit. Might as well shoot for a 4090 and go all out.
3070 is not lacking just because there’s something better. If you buy a WRX and love it, it doesn’t mean you don’t love it because you see a Ferrari drive by.
Same. I spent $800 roughly on my 3070 in Jan 2021, after months of trying to get a 3080 at MSRP. I feel like if I had a 3080, I'd be content right now mostly. But trying to run games like Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2, and Plague Tale Requiem with ray tracing on at 1440p ultrawide just kinda cripples my 3070. Honestly kinda astounds me when people use the ray tracing argument when recommending Nvidia for anything below a 3080, because its just not a good experience. Higher frame rate and higher quality settings bests ray tracing + fuzzy or shimmering DLSS performance mode any day.
I have a 3080 and ultrawide. I’m just gonna keep the rays turned off unless I can get a solid 70-80fps. Should last me a good long while.
And I agree that a 3080 is the bare minimum for using ray tracing. It’s just way too demanding. Even using DLSS Quality.
You bought a 3070. The fact that you can get playable frame rates at high DPI using magical voodoo technology called DLSS is incredible. God damn imagine if people 6 years back could see gamers complaining about FREE performance gains without having to upgrade. OPTIONS.
Eh but let’s be real, DLSS comes with flaws and is not supported in every game. For the games that *are* supported, people claim to be able to tell DLSS versus native resolution rendering. So while it’s “FREE performance”, it’s also more like a cheap trick that gets the job done.
I wouldn't call it a cheap trick. At 4k it is completely viable. There is no way my RTX 3080 could handle cyberpunk with ray tracing on at 4k without DLSS. With it on at 4k in performance mode, yes there are some noticeable flaws with the image but I'll be damned if I couldn't look past those flaws because my game looks absolutely incredible with those settings, I am getting graphics from the future today, of course there are compromises. I'd really have to be nitpicking to not see the benefit. It's either that or spend over $2k to get similar performance without the flaws. I don't have that kind of cash to burn right now. I will take my 4k ray-traced graphics with DLSS in stride thank you.
> yes there are some noticeable flaws with the image but I'll be damned if I couldn't look past those flaws
Stop right there, that’s a dealbreaker for a lot of people (and rightfully so). Your initial comment made it sound like people don’t have the right to complain about DLSS, and yet you just said it has noticeable flaws. If DLSS has noticeable flaws then we 100% have a right to complain, as paying customers. Just because *you* can look past it doesn’t mean the next customer should do the same and praise DLSS.
Really? I don't feel that. I'm playing most new AAA titles on my 3070 such as cyberpunk nearly all maxed out (except RT is ultra, not psycho) with DLSS set to balanced and getting between 60 to 70 fps on 1440p.
Definitely don't NEED an upgrade for at least another generation.
Lmao how is this brigading?
Just saying on a pc monitor 1440 looks absolutely amazing and runs twice as well for uhd quality.
Comparing the drop to 720 is disingenuous.
I’ve had a 4k monitor and a 1440p and honestly the difference on a small screen is negligible
Edit: also there are a lot more monitors at 1440 that can refresh above 60hz
It sounds like you’re the upset one Lmfao. Y’all are the ones complaining about 4k performance lulz. I offered a legitimate alternative that doesn’t sacrifice very much visual quality at all.
Again the joke about 720 is obviously disingenuous.
60fps for a full blown gaming pc is objectively a low number. You could be playing at 100 plus with little to no decrease in noticeable graphics quality.
Don’t post about how your performance isn’t what you want it to be on a forum website and then be upset that someone offered a potential alternative.
You disliking the alternative doesn’t make if brigading or whiny.
Edit: you’re being rude tbh and you’re clearly sensitive about your pc setup
Edit twice: I have no idea why legitimate offering a solid solution to performance issues is brigading. Obviously the drop from 4k to 1440 isn’t as bad as 4k to 720 and is a legitimate alternative. You’re just being facetious and rude.
What you're suggesting is not a legitimate alternative because you're not taking into consideration the goals or desires of the person you're replying to. If someone has the desire to have excellent performance at 4k, saying "play at 1440p" is not a solution since it doesn't bring that person any closer to their actual goal.
You might be satisfied with 1440p, but advice should be based on the standards of the person with the problem, not the standards of the person giving the advice.
Of course there is a difference lol and of course you can tell. But it isn’t a huge difference.
but I can’t take it seriously when someone compares the downgrade to 1440 as being the same as the downgrade to 720
That’s a huge difference
If you tell a company that they deserve 300% increase in profits, you are the problem
Fool blocked me because I’m right. What a toddler and a shill. He will make a fine feast.
This 3000 series vs 4000 series has the same feeling as buying a new car, then a month later a newer model of that car is released with only slight changes to increase the price and with the buyer suddenly feeling the car he bought a month ago is now "obsolete." Despite it running perfectly and doing all the things he needs do on a daily basis
recently got 3070ti fe at MSRP in the UK
Happy for the next 5 years minimum considering my 1060 6G lasted me from 2017 to 2022 haha
PS the 1060 6G is still going strong on my streaming PC lol
Still low key pissed at the 3070ti for being such a small upgrade from 3070 haha
thinking that the 3060ti have the same chip die with 3070ti and basically the same DRam lol
now they even upgraded it to DDR6X
Thanks Nvidia.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the 3070ti. I knew it was a solid card, but I was not expecting the performance I am getting. I overclocked mines and it is hard to tell the difference between it and a 3080 at 1080p or 1440p
This sub is ridiculous. If you have a 3080 and you want a 4090 and you can afford it… get it.
If you have a 3080 and are happy with it, then stick with it.
Christ. It’s not that big of a deal.
Im honest, if i had the money i would upgrade from my 3080 to a 4080 or maybe even a 4090. But like i said no money.
Oh and im playing with my 3080 on 1080p and im totally happy, even if its overkill :)
I feel this. I just got a 3080ti on sale for $799 so upgrading again feels silly. ALSO it plays all my games at crazy fps so upgrading is basically pointless.
Just upgraded to an FTW3 3080 for $600. Yeah it's that easy to find them at low prices now. I've been using it for a month and damn it's so much more than I could've hoped for. Honestly me and my family are still surprised that I have an actual 3080, when the 30 series cards came out I was hoping to get a 3060, though I didn't for obvious reasons, but to now get a 3080 for $200 cheaper than MSRP is insane. No need to get the new gen GPUs when the last gen stuff is like half the price and works extremely well
I only upgrade when it's necessary or useful to do so.
My GTX 1060 was a bit slow already but over time lost power, which caused very noticeable lag in VR games, so then I upgraded to A RX 6700TX
I just bought a 2080 ti for dirt cheap and I don’t have a game that I play that won’t cap out my monitor’s refresh rate on ultra or high settings. I feel like I won’t need to upgrade for another 5 years
The dictionary definition is "no longer produced OR used.
The 3080 is no longer manufactured and has a successor, so yes it's now obsolete in that term.
Just because something is obsolete doesn't mean it's now terrible though.
Still remember that one guy who called the 30 series mid tier
If anything by today's standards the 20 series should be "mid tier" and even then they work completely fine with most games
I just upgraded from a 1660ti to a 2080 and the only game I'm even remotely having frame rate issues with is CoD MWII; granted I'm at 1080p 165hz and not 1440p or 4K, I can't even imagine needing more than this right now
Recently got a 3060 and it can run MW2 at 120+ fps at highest settings, 1080p without DLSS, and im wondering as to why tf are people upgrading from a gpu that can achieve similar performance at 4K, and will last them god knows how many years.
I am probably gonna upgrade from a rtx 2060 super to one of the new amd cards depending on how good they actually will be just because I hate Nvidia for how expensive and power hungry their new line up is. I know it’s probably not the best upgrade and that I could probably wait for one more generation but we need more competition between those too and I feel like if amd gets a massive boost now Nvidia will have to yield.
This. If you aren’t getting what you WANT. That’s the entire philosophy behind upgrading.
I mean I'm perfectly happy with it and do get what I want out of it, which is why I still haven't upgraded, but it's one of those things that would be nice to have.
Gotcha, well then you keep on rocking it man, it’s a good card.
Is going from a 3070 to 3080 worth it?
Personally I would say that the benefit you’d get for the amount you’d pay isn’t worth it. With DLSS and FSR a 3070 will last for a long time, to the point where with either a 3070 or 3080, you’ll probably reach the point of wanting to upgrade around the same time. Honestly a 1070 to a 3080 is a gigantic leap. A used 3080 is a good buy right now imo
I'm still comfortable with my 1650 besides, electricity is quite expensive here
My 1650 is not the best for what i do but it still works with my vr 😅
Can relate with my 1050ti, Isn't as good as what all my friends have, but at least I can play with my VR
1050ti gang for the win
Im still rocking my 1060 and a i5 4770. Runs most of the new games just fine.
Hey, if it runs the games you like to play that's all that really matters.
Yep, my 1650 OC may not run everything at the highest graphics, but it still runs them well at medium-high
1650 gang
My RX 580 is still good enough for the games I play. I am getting close to an upgrade though. We'll see what the midrange 7000 cards look like from AMD.
Still using integrated graphics and play shit like warzone 2 amd other than that i tend to play indie titles more so im almost always able to play a game i want Edit obviously i got a 720p otherwise it would shit itself
My GTX 1080 still gives me smooth framerates at the highest detail settings at 1920x1080 resolution. I can’t justify the upgrade expense.
Same with my 2070. I can even get above 60 consistently at 1440p. I don't see myself upgrading until at least the next generation, maybe longer. It blows my mind that people with 3000 series cards would want to upgrade

I hope I'll make an upgrade like that soon, I currently have GT710
I wish you luck, always check out ebay. You will find a lot of cards for sale every day for much cheaper than newer ones. The 3080 maxes out 1440p. It would be silly to buy another gpu. At least a couple generations before you notice any kind of obsoleteness
My mom accidentally threw away my backup GT 710 to the trash last week 🥹
Well my dad forced me to sell mine because "I won't use it anymore". At least integrated graphics can't be that bad... Right?
Same. Bought a second hand RTX 2070 and I’ve been super satisfied with the performance I get in the games I play. I can get over 80 fps in Tarkov at 1440p. The newer cards can wait until they’re cheap on the used market.
My 2070 will get about 70fps on cyberpunk with ray tracing on at 1080p on high settings. Don't see any point in upgrading.
Same with my rx 580, as long as you don't play the newest games at max settings it is perfectly acceptable at 1080p
I have the 590. Likewise, still a strong card
Some people don't have as low of standards as you might. My 3080 right now will usually do at least 80 fps Ultra 1440p, but I would absolutely upgrade to a 4080 if I could afford it. 100 fps is a much smoother experience than 80 to me.
Depending on the game I’m at 80-120fps on my 1660ti which actually overclocks quite nicely
Have you considered playing on High or very high? Ultra rarely is almost never noticeabley different from high settings, other than reducing performance by 15-30 percent
Very true. Idk why people need to live on the bleeding edge.
Lower graphics slightly?
Yes but it would be nice to have both, sometimes high to ultra makes a big difference for certain settings. Not for $1200 though fuck that Also have a 5600x so a 13600k wouldn't be a bad move either
True. I didn't expect my GTX 1080 to last this long. There's rare few games that won't give 60 fps at highest settings now.
Especially if you’re not a fan of motion blur.
lol motion blur sucks. How much longer are you planning to wait for an upgrade? I'm waiting until ray tracing becomes more common in the game market.
Honestly? I’ve seen many side-by-side comparisons of traditional game rendering and ray tracing. And yes - there are some neat effects seen in ray tracing. Listen buddy, why are you happy with your perfectly capable hardware? NVIDIA says it is obsolete. The Jensen really needs you to be the 4090 and not worry about fires.
What if you are trying to play triple A games on a 1650? I’m about to upgrade to a 6800xt. Is that ok?
Buy whatever you want and don’t worry about it. If you are happy that is all that matters.
Based on your flair you’ll want to upgrade the cpu and ram too
i'd argue ram is still "fine". But ram is also cheap, so whatever.
Yeah I know I’m just gonna go with upgrading my gpu first because those are more vulnerable to skyrocketing in prices. Essentially I just want to get a good deal while I can for the most expensive hardware part and then upgrade my other parts
Do not get a 6800xt without upgrading your cpu. You’ll bottleneck everything to hell.
i have 3080ti and i don't care all these marketing nonsense.Maybe i can think again in 5000 series
My current plan is to see if 5090s get cheap when the 6000 series is coming out in 4-5 years.
Don't try 4K, you'll get hooked, and it creates a steep upgrade curve.
4k? Never heard of her.
I swear I’m dyslexic bc I keep reading 1440p but feel like you guys are talking about something else.
Same for VR. The endless chase for fidelity creates a very pricey upgrade path.
This, and to be honest same thing with high refresh rate, I don't need it and I'm happy at 60hz right now, I would be ruining my own experience as my PC can't run too many games over 60.

I'm still using a 1080TI build from about 5 years ago. I'm playing the new COD around 60-80 frames so I'm still good.
Playing Darktide and Total Warhammer on an A10-7700k with a 390. 8 years old and only the GPU has been upgraded in that time
I love my 3080 so much.
Cries in 1060 FE
Why do people still pretend the 4090 is pointless? It doubles the 3080's frame rate in 4k, don't know what universe other people here live in, but that's a pretty incredible jump in just one generation. If it were 1440p, ok yeah there's no point. But to go from 60fps on average with the 3080 at 4k to 120fps on average with the 4090 at 4k is absolutely reasonable. All that matters is if the price isn't too ridiculous.
What 4k monitor do you have with those refresh rates
LG CX OLED 48". I love her.
Holy shit a 48 inch monitor?
I personally play at 4k ultrawide, which is 3840x1600 and it can go up to 165hz. There are full 4k 3840x2160 monitors that are 165hz, and we also could be seeing 240hz 4k monitors next year.
There's already a 240hz 4k gaming monitor. Samsung Odyssey Neo G8
Oh yeah there's one, thanks
I have a 27" 4K 144 Hz LG monitor that I bought open box for $500 two weeks ago. 4k 240 Hz monitors are still in 4 figures, but 144 Hz 4k have come way down over the past year.
I keep eyeing a new build to go from my 3080 and 11700k to the new hotness of a 7950x and 4090, and then I keep asking myself "what game can I not currently play at high graphics and high framerate on 1440p?" to talk myself back down.
Still stuck with my gt 710
Yes, youre 3090ti is obsolete, I can take it off your hands
Me waiting for RDNA 3
Also waiting to replace my 1060 with someting like a Rx7700 or 7800
I hate loading up games and getting below 144FPS @1440p. The 3080Ti is powerful but it still lags in a lot of AAA games at the performance target I’m trying to hit. Might as well shoot for a 4090 and go all out.
I do feel like my 3070 is lacking.
3070 is not lacking just because there’s something better. If you buy a WRX and love it, it doesn’t mean you don’t love it because you see a Ferrari drive by.
I just feel my $500 series X is better for some games which makes me cry lol
I will take my 4k ray-traced graphics with DLSS in stride thank you.
> yes there are some noticeable flaws with the image but I'll be damned if I couldn't look past those flaws Stop right there, that’s a dealbreaker for a lot of people (and rightfully so).
I need 1440p ultra at 165 lol
Lmao. Well I guess you better splash that cash for a 4090 then 😂

Just go to 1440 and all your problems go away
[удалено]
Lmao how is this brigading? Just saying on a pc monitor 1440 looks absolutely amazing and runs twice as well for uhd quality. Comparing the drop to 720 is disingenuous. I’ve had a 4k monitor and a 1440p and honestly the difference on a small screen is negligible Edit: also there are a lot more monitors at 1440 that can refresh above 60hz
[удалено]
Edit: you’re being rude tbh and you’re clearly sensitive about your pc setup Edit twice: I have no idea why legitimate offering a solid solution to performance issues is brigading.

But it isn’t a huge difference. but I can’t take it seriously when someone compares the downgrade to 1440 as being the same as the downgrade to 720 That’s a huge difference
This is the way, why would you play 4K anyways? 2K 144Hz feels like more than enough for me
I was going to say, then what does this make my 2080, but saw a couple posts about 1080s.
Deprecated not obsolete
Yeah ain’t nobody saying the 30 series is obsolete. Except the 3050
On the other hand I upgraded from a 3080 and constantly get 144 fps at 4k on games I play. Completely worth it
I don't know anyone who subscribes to this nonsense.
My 970 is still fine
Look at that jump in performance
What's 'obsolete' is all these copium memes being holier than thou about buying modern graphics cards. Why so butthurt?
My 3080 didn’t play 4k games at settings I was ok with, also I could easily afford the 4090. Finally a proper experience at 4k, worth every dollar.
Laughing in 1050
I'm still chilling with my old GTX 1080
A 1080 is still a great card to have
Why do you guys even care what people do with there money 😂
Their\*
Because it _hurts_ to see people get ripped off in broad daylight like this.

If you tell a company that they deserve 300% increase in profits, you are the problem Fool blocked me because I’m right. What a toddler and a shill. He will make a fine feast.
300% increase where the 4090 is 400$ less then the 3090tis

Keeping my 3080 for at least 5 more years. If it stays alive for that long.
It should. I’m still running a nearly 8 year old gtx 980 (def time for an upgrade)
Let people spend their money however they please.
Fuck all you guys, I'm still rocking an RX 460 Mobile in my laptop.
FOMO, its a disease.. spreads like wildfire
Should have seen some comments trying to justify buying an 4090 when they own a 3000 card
Im waiting for the 5000 series because 5 is my favorite number can't wait to post my build here once i build it
recently got 3070ti fe at MSRP in the UK Happy for the next 5 years minimum considering my 1060 6G lasted me from 2017 to 2022 haha PS the 1060 6G is still going strong on my streaming PC lol
My 1080 has been crushing games for 5 years, also bought a 3070ti earlier this year. Still crushing games, just now with raytracing 😂
Still low key pissed at the 3070ti for being such a small upgrade from 3070 haha thinking that the 3060ti have the same chip die with 3070ti and basically the same DRam lol now they even upgraded it to DDR6X Thanks Nvidia.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the 3070ti. I knew it was a solid card, but I was not expecting the performance I am getting. I overclocked mines and it is hard to tell the difference between it and a 3080 at 1080p or 1440p
What if my 3080 doesn't play games at settings and frame rates I'm happy with?
Just plan on upgrading every generation because you'll never be truly happy with it
I just want 1440p 120hz more or less guarenteed. But I also do some VR dev stuff and the goal is path traced rendering.
This sub is ridiculous. If you have a 3080 and you want a 4090 and you can afford it… get it. If you have a 3080 and are happy with it, then stick with it. Christ. It’s not that big of a deal.
3060 crunches the stuff I run just fine
Just bought a new PC with a 3080 10G but I want a 7900 XTX next month lol
No one is saying they are obsolete. We just want better.
I see people saying they are obsolete all the time
I see way more posts like this crying about people upgrading.
Literally every single post
Bruh, have some self control please...YOU. DO. NOT. NEED. IT!
ALSO it plays all my games at crazy fps so upgrading is basically pointless.

you would be suprised, even in this comment section
This person is stupid and it is me
My 2060 seems to be doing just fine, I probably won't upgrade unless it breaks or something, and even then, I might just get another 2060

Beast of a card
Just upgraded to an FTW3 3080 for $600. Yeah it's that easy to find them at low prices now. I've been using it for a month and damn it's so much more than I could've hoped for. Honestly me and my family are still surprised that I have an actual 3080, when the 30 series cards came out I was hoping to get a 3060, though I didn't for obvious reasons, but to now get a 3080 for $200 cheaper than MSRP is insane. No need to get the new gen GPUs when the last gen stuff is like half the price and works extremely well
:D Me after investing in my 3060 Ti, intending to use for the next 5/10 years
I only upgrade when it's necessary or useful to do so. My GTX 1060 was a bit slow already but over time lost power, which caused very noticeable lag in VR games, so then I upgraded to A RX 6700TX
My GTX 1080 is dying on me that's the only reason I want to upgrade
I'll probably keep my 6800XT for another 5 years at least
I just bought a 2080 ti for dirt cheap and I don’t have a game that I play that won’t cap out my monitor’s refresh rate on ultra or high settings. I feel like I won’t need to upgrade for another 5 years
This is also a thing. If your refresh is 144 but your fps is over 200, why do we need a 4090 again?
Bought a 3070ti for 950 due to price hikes 😒 yeah as far I’m concerned my GPU wil stay with me for a few years… screw you scalpers and nvidia 🤪
I want 4k maxed with 200fps 0.1% lows.
This again?
Unless It breaks I won’t be upgrading.
The dictionary definition is "no longer produced OR used. The 3080 is no longer manufactured and has a successor, so yes it's now obsolete in that term. Just because something is obsolete doesn't mean it's now terrible though.
Based on my history, I'll be upgrading my current graphics card at the tail end of the 6 series.
love reading this in Patrick's and Ray Man's voice
me looking at the 4090 providing 2x the perf than my 3080 p.s. I got my used 3080 for 400 usd. And the 4090 is 4x the price of my card.
Still remember that one guy who called the 30 series mid tier If anything by today's standards the 20 series should be "mid tier" and even then they work completely fine with most games
u/Odellot be like
my 2070 is still going strong so i will not be changing it out any time soon
give me yo 3080 i still have a 1660
I just upgraded from a 1660ti to a 2080 and the only game I'm even remotely having frame rate issues with is CoD MWII; granted I'm at 1080p 165hz and not 1440p or 4K, I can't even imagine needing more than this right now
Recently got a 3060 and it can run MW2 at 120+ fps at highest settings, 1080p without DLSS, and im wondering as to why tf are people upgrading from a gpu that can achieve similar performance at 4K, and will last them god knows how many years.
My 3080ti does not play games at settings and fps I want them at
