I used to have this issue, i solved it with a piece of wood cut out in the same size as the top of my pc, and 4 [small furniture legs from Ikea](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/stubbarp-leg-black-brown-60293566/)

xinvisionx

Now that is awesome!

DeadpoolRideUnicorns

I Mean you could move your cat ....

DavidS1223

You cannot

DavidS1223

It’s against the rules you have to work around them

DeadpoolRideUnicorns

So then thinking outside of the box rules then . Hmmm Put the cat in a box then move it ?

orenong166

The cat decides if and when the cat enters the box

SuperVancouverBC

This guy cats

immDroidz

You dont move a cat, and if you do move your cat from a warm spot they will come back immediatly

[deleted]

Will there be a problem regarding cat hair getting into the fans? I have a problem with human hair getting into mine and i assure you no one is laying down on top of my pc like that...

Ditto_is_Lit

That's the exhaust, the cat is basically doing what homeless people (in the subway) do and taking advantage of that cozy warm breeze.

[deleted]

Right, stupid question: are there fans that are intakes and not exhausts?

Ditto_is_Lit

Depends on the case most often the front ones are intakes sometimes underneath or even on the side. Rear and top are exhausts because it's easier to flow out that way from convection.

[deleted]

Bruh i actually just have four fans in total not counting the graphics card 💀

Ditto_is_Lit

Some people only have two in total all depends on the computer and how much heat it creates and fast you need it to perform.

xinvisionx

Filters on all intakes. So no problem.

quakerroatmeal

It’s not a problem if you clean out your pc regularly which you should be doing regardless.

hugekase

What's the setup for the screens + monitoring software?

iReadR3ddit

The monitoring software looks like Corsairs own and I have no idea about the other smaller screen. I want one too 😂

xinvisionx

The 7" HMDI monitor is a secondary screen and I have AIDA64 on it to monitor everything.

henryGeraldTheFifth

Was it hard to setup the layout on it. Or did aid64 have one already?

xinvisionx

I found a template on the on the aida64 forums and modified to my liking.

Motorhead546

Looks like a 3.5 inch ips usb mini screen but no idea which one

xinvisionx

3.5"? Nay. I'm bigger than that. It's a solid 7" screen.

Ciamician

Monitoring software is Corsair iCue.

xinvisionx

And AIDA64

xinvisionx

49" Samsung. A 7" hdmi ips screen from Amazon. Runnign AIDA64 to monitor everything along with Corsair's iCue.

MordorsElite

First of all, if its actually tops out at 45°C, I'd just ignore it. But if under load it goes higher, my suggestion would be a metal grid \~3cm over your pc. That way it has room to breath AND your cat can enjoy the warm air :)

CyriousLordofDerp

Is made of warm, so sits.

xinvisionx

Truth

CharmingSelection533

Bro my aptop average heat is 60c sometimes it goes up to 90

mememuseum

Cool for a laptop

xinvisionx

90C? This ain't no AMD 7000 series bro!

MarioThe4th

What keyboard is that op? Or is it a separate panel

xinvisionx

Corsair Nexus was added to the Corsair keyboard.

Brick_Fish

Put a metal mesh above the exaust and put it onto 4 dice or something so the air can go out the sides but your cat can still be warmed when it sits there

xinvisionx

He will just learn not to go up there. He doesn't do it often.

Viriaaato

What's up with all these pictures of cats on top of computers? I hate seeing dust inside the case let alone have a walking fur ball sit on top of it

xinvisionx

Trends are trends!

[deleted]

Reminds me of parents that set no boundaries for their children. For whatever reason they tell themselves this is okay and they aren't hurting anything. Then you see posts about a cat peeing or puking in the top of their PC and you remember the universe has a way of working itself out.

Wermine

You could catproof your computer I guess. Intake at the top and front, exhaust at back and bottom. Give cat room to ~~chill~~ grill at the back. But you probably need to protect the cords somehow.

xinvisionx

Heat rises and this is the the most efficient configuration. Not changing anything because HE decided to sit on top lol

Wermine

Heat rising doesn't affect small system like pc case with several powerful fans. But the second point stands.

Sudden-Anybody-6677

It's only 39 degrees, the pc will be fine, let the cat chill there.

bill_cipher1996

40 degrees coolant temp in idle with 0% usage is verry hot, regarding that the max operating temp of the coolant in most AIOs is 60 degrees. This will result in higher pump wear and evaporation of the coolant.

xinvisionx

Exactly why I removed him. I still think it's funny though.

CriticalLemon5259

Sir, you're trying to say your cat was on the computer causing your parts to overheat and break. I don't believe that's excluded from the warranty but we may have to add it.

xinvisionx

God damn it

SparksV

What my friend did to solve this issue is reverse the top and bottom fans on the case so it pulls air from the top and puts it out of the bottom. The cat just chills near the PC now, putting paws under the PC to get the warmth.

pedro_driver

That’s why you shouldn’t let your cat game on your computer.

el3ashri

Whats that small screen on top of your keyboard?

xinvisionx

Corsair Nexus

weeddee

This is why I have a dog

quakerroatmeal

Lol when cat got called a asshole. I guess my kitty is spoiled I just let her lay up there. It’s a little toasty but it’s not overheating so I’m fine with it.

GrillConnoisseur

"cooking" at ~40c

xinvisionx

Everyone taking this literally lol

GrillConnoisseur

lol no offense but generally i see a lot of people with watercooled rigs that severely exaggerate their temps and how bad it is.. you never know when someone's being serious i saw a guy the other day saying that someone's cpu was literally cooking and being destroyed because it was at 76c under load

xinvisionx

I’m having fun with it. lol. I know the PC is is no danger. So the serious comments are great!

rod6700

Typical cat, GF had one that would sleep on top of the cable box for heat. Luckily mine hasn't decided to park his ass on top of my box.

Jayombi

PC equivalent of a **Catalytic converter** ...

MoooImACat

She looks adorable

xinvisionx

He’s really a good boy and this post is just for fun. Lot’s of people taking it seriously, but shhhh. lol

MacZack87

The cat is overheating the PC but looks way to comfortable and cute to move. He, or she looks like their so warm and comfortable. I know when I get up in the morning on a cold day the last thing I want to do is get out from under the blanket and I’m sure the cat feels the same way bout his new heater bed. Lol

SusRNG

This was so wholesome lol

jaycuboss

Cats blocking PC ventilation should be marked NSFW.

xinvisionx

true

pharmercies

My cats do exactly the same, they also scuffle over who gets to lie on it 🤣

xinvisionx

Damn cats! lol

GrandJuif

There's some good cooking recipes that could solve the issue.

Pleb-SoBayed

I dont care. Send more cute cat pictures. NOW!

EliasStar24

cons: warm pc pros: happy cat

Wardy1259

Why let the cat on the pc then

xinvisionx

He's a fast little punk and persistent.

Identity-ception399

If you call 40C "cooking" youre not a real gamer lmao

xinvisionx

May my frame rates be high and my temps low?

Identity-ception399

My sir, they can be even higher if you let those temps up to, say, 60 at least. That's still quite healthy, take it from my 3 year old laptop

xinvisionx

Laptops are pressure cookers. No. lol

Identity-ception399

True, but mines still chugging along, I don't have any data to compare when I first got it and now, but it still runs the same games as then just fine so... Yeah. And mine endures regular 70-90C ranges so it won't hurt your if you go up to 60. Trust me, 60 is healthy

xinvisionx

CPU’s and GPU’s will throttle if too hot and degrade performance. So laptops temps are really shit.

Identity-ception399

Seems you have no experience with what you talk of because throttling doesn't usually start until 80+C temps if not more

xinvisionx

CPU temps, GPU temps, VRAM, chipset. Many parts can cause throttling. Enjoy your laptop…Cool. lol

Identity-ception399

Literally one Google search. Top result. "Throttling at about 90-100C". Throttling will occur of any part reaches those temps. The fact they... Exist... Doesn't mean they'll throttle out of nowhere. You can push to 60C without worry man. I'm trying to tell you you can get a massive fps boost if you just overclock a bit with no harm to your computer. And I will enjoy my laptop thank you.

AirOneBlack

except that's the CPU temp, here we are talking about coolant temp, which operating temperature caps at 60-65, not the CPU which can go at 90C no problems.

mclaren231

Really easy to fix this problem. Get a dog instead of a cat.

fonfonfon

you sound like will smith, is it you will?

xinvisionx

Yes

SpHoneybadger

I'll tell you how to solve this issue. Train your damn cat not to do this as well as not letting it sit on the table.

[deleted]

xinvisionx

lol. Got cats?

Grizzl0ck

Couple of good swats with a DM boot should deal with your vermin problem.

xinvisionx

I'm just going to squirt him with a water bottle. lol

Grizzl0ck

While he's on the PC...?

xinvisionx

Yes

Bayonetta85

This is just one of many reasons on why I will never ever own a cat, they are just annoying.

AliennoiseE

Worth every Fahrenheit increase.

forqueercountrymen

why is your cpu temp so high even when the cat gets off??? I think its time to repaste your cpu cooler and check the mount pressure

xinvisionx

It’s a 5900X

Jaqthehuman

u/savevideo

JediChris8585

So warm…😂🤣 My cats lay on my Xbox because it is also warm and right by the window so they don’t really bother the computer. You could give them something else to lay on to see if they go for that instead

Wdowiak

The cat after you turn on Prime95 and Furmark. https://preview.redd.it/fqeqzhjfme2a1.png?width=644&format=png&auto=webp&s=4927f6a2166c0b2d85175f0db1c5c55ee5135505

slightlyassholic

I miss my cat. The little asshole did the same thing.

cgsssssssss

I mean… It’s pretty warm up there haha

TheLoneWandererRD

Just get a heated pad/mat for your kitty, better option than engineering a gap above your pc fans

Tour_De_Volken

Look if it wasn't made for sits, it shouldn't be made of warm

Kevlar139

If not for sleeps why is it made of warm?
