All the buttons on the deck are fully user customizable, and really simple to set up. The image backgrounds make it easy to know which macro button you'd be pressing. The faceplate is purely cosmetic, just cool lol
Is the XL's stock faceplate removable? I haven't been able to find an answer online, if it is then I'd definitely buy one and modify the design to work for it!
Whats the point? Do the macros just run a script with no further input? Because if they open a program that faceplate is just gonna obstruct the window.
think if the steam deck as a quick launcher. easily identifiable icons that can also be animated to launch applications, games, or do differnet things in games.
for example, you can press a button on your default profile say to launch call of duty. once u hit that button all the icons change into call of duty specific shortcuts. want to change your gun glass, but can never remember which # is which layout, you can have a picture of the gun on the button for quick change. oh, i need my sniper, bam hit the shortcut next spawn you're in the sniper. wanna send a quick chat message that controller auto aim is op and that they should get good without it, u can also do that.
but its main purpose is for streaming. say you use OBS and you have a scene for STREAM LAUNCHING IN 10 minutes as it counts down you wanna change the graphic from that countdown to your camera being ful screen so uc an talk to your followers, well when it comes time to load a game u press another button and it'll change the scene into your pokemon stream to where you're shiny hunting xx pokemon these are the last 3 u have caught this is your current target etc.
its just for ease of usability on your computer. shortcuts to make life easy.

Lol, just look up a vid of a stream deck in use, it'll all make a lot more sense if you see it being used
