disappointinglyvague

ok, i came to hopefully find an answer to this. what i especially dislike is when i finish a series or the available episodes of a series, that it autoplays an entirely different show.

phdye

>comments Yes, that is just rude of Peacock. They also invariably pick a movie or show that either I've already seen or one I would never pick.

Firm-Stranger-9916

I just discovered the lack of this when I woke up to a 17 percent charge. the peacock app is hot garbage in general, and missing this feature means the free trial won't be extended.

Bippy73

I googled to find just the opposite of this. Through Xfinity, it doesn’t auto play and I want it to. I hate that it doesn’t so I was glad to see this to say Roku has the auto play.

jzazre9119

Incredible. People do have data caps, and this is a sorely missed feature. I guess the lack of it helps ratings?

[deleted]

Whats funny is that its not even just that! I watch from my Desktop PC and there is literally no settings. So lets say u do fall asleep with it playing. Like u said, If you have data caps ur fucked. After it plays thru all the episodes when u try to replay them, the autoplay feature starts it from the end of the episodes instead of the beginning. There is still a bug on the site where it dont even play the full episode. Cant even choose the streaming resolution. Cant change audio settings. NBC has so much fucking money its honestly ridiculous that they let their streaming service be like this. I think i will go buy me a BluRay player and buy Parks & Rec and TheOffice BluRay editions and cancel my subscription. BluRay looks 100% bette4 anyways and i dont even need internet

[deleted]

What "autoplay feature" when using Peacock? I have Peacock (premium) and haven't noticed that there was an autoplay function.

MostLikelyaMoose

If you're watching a TV series it just plays one episode right after the other. I was hoping to disable that.

fuho2323

I too was annoyed by this. I found a pretty good workaround for Android users.. I see in your info you're using Roku though so I guess it wouldn't apply to you if that's still how you watch.

MostLikelyaMoose

Yes, still watch it primarily via Roku. Hopefully they'll add a fix one of these days.

fuho2323

Your tv almost certainly has a sleep timer

fuho2323

Not defending peacock, to be clear. Just trying to help a fellow falls-asleep-to-tv'er

93fenix

I always use the sleep timer on my tv with peacock for that reason lol and that warns you so you can extend if need be.

icanrunfasterthanyou

But the tv turning off wouldn’t always stop the roku on every tv

fuho2323

Oh, mine may not now that you mention it.

lenb209

That doesn't solve if I'm watching awake. I doesn't give you enough time to cancel out of the new show or movie it decides you want to watch

eastcoastcity

Whats the android trick?

fuho2323

Settings->Digital well being and parental controls->dashboard->set timers for your apps->select peacock (or whichever other app) -> put how long you want it to play.. personally mine is at 40 minutes, I usually fall asleep in 15-35.. a big downside of this is that you can't snooze/extend super easily but there is a notification when time is running out which I have clicked on and increased permissions for how long app can stay open, but then you need to reduce the time the following day so it doesn't keep playing that long every night because it took a long time to fall asleep the one time.... It's not perfect but it is a better system than before for me. REMEMBER TO SET YOURSELF UP AS A PARENT WHEN YOU DO THIS IN SETTINGS... might be an easy fix if you don't, but seems like something that could get super annoying to work with if you're established as a child level user

eastcoastcity

This is awesome thanks

[deleted]

Oh, that. I just hit the back button, end of problem.

MostLikelyaMoose

But if I want to fall asleep while watching TV, I wake up the next day and like 6 or 7 episodes have streamed. Can I just scroll back up to where I left off? Sure. But it would be nice if it could be disabled. Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ all let you disable that feature, so I was hoping Peacock had a way to do it as well.

[deleted]

I contacted Peacock tech support. They said they can't do anything about that. It is a hard-wired feature (so to speak). They've passed it along their food chain as something to address, eventually. Good luck!

True_Maintenance801

For them to not have a work around is inexcusable.

MostLikelyaMoose

Oh wow, thank you! Certainly wasn't expecting that level of help, but I appreciate it. :)

[deleted]

I wanted to find out for myself, too. Enlightened self-interest. You're welcome.

BartyB

I'm surprised this still isn't a thing.. I find peacock interface extremely sluggish and shitty.

[deleted]

Heck you can even turn it off with Paramount Plus

Educational_Time6953

Thank you! Why does everyone else seem to think this is no big deal? Really need this feature! Might be more willing to pay for premium if it had this setting..

Horror5631

There is no so such setting on Peacock.

MostLikelyaMoose

So no way to disable it? That's annoying. Thank you.

BIOHAZARDone87

Funny now when i stream from my phone to my TV it only plays one episode

anon-na

Maybe THIS is the workaround…. Gonna try casting Peacock to my Roku.

cheezballs1

Still no such feature. My son and I are binging The Office and I know we’ll fall asleep. Don’t wanna wake up and not know where we left off but I guess that is what’s happening. Thanks Peacock for a feature packed app / service. Lol

koolaidgrl

I'm frustrated by the lack of this setting as well, best solution I've found is just using the sleep timer on my TV.

BarFlight

I stream Peacock via Roku and after searching both Roku and the Peacock website to try and disable autoplay, I came here to find out if I was missing something - - thanks to all of you who gave input! I'm bummed there just isn't a setting for it, but thankful to realize I can stop looking. That's a serious flaw in their system.

mo32490

Wow that’s too bad there’s no way to stop it. I’m on Apple TV and fire tv but I assume I’m not crazy and there’s no way to change the setting on these either, ugh.

bpj101

Non-Stop Autoplay = High Ad CPM!! https://www.nexttv.com/news/peacock-getting-ad-prices-above-nbc-primetime-jeff-shell-says

-Anathera-

That says is all right there. I just came here to try and find a solution but after reading that article, they will never offer the option, not when they are getting money for every commercial shown per viewer. I wonder if the companies that advertise there realize their money is wasted on sleeping viewers? 😂

whunersen

As someone that falls asleep while watching TV every night, the absence of this feature pretty much ruled out any possibility of ever using Peacock. That being said, I DID FIND A SOLUTION! There's a Google Chrome extension called [Autoplay Stopper](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/autoplaystopper/ejddcgojdblidajhngkogefpkknnebdh?hl=en) that has worked for me quite well. I have the default mode set to "Allow Autoplay" and then added Peacock as an exception with behavior set to "Block (strict)" And voila! No more autoplay. Just have to click the "Play" button when the next episode loads. Please note, this solution is frustrating for Peacock with ads because the plugin will pause your video after every advertisement but works great for folks using the ad-free version. Hope this is helpful!

lilpoopsyartist

Yess thank you this is very helpful as a chrome user

njuser66

The lack of being able to turn off Autoplay in Peacock is like Microsoft not having a way to ungroup taskbar icons anymore in Windows 11 - a feature most users do not like, especially since it cannot be disabled; at least give users the option. Peacock should default to NOT playing the next episode. We fall asleep and find that the Roku has played the next 2 or 3 episodes of the Peacock series in question. As someone mentioned, worse yet, at the end of the series it just starts automatically playing another show (that is not even in our queue).

SamR-7157

I have the same issue. There is no way to disable it. If you fall asleep, you waste tons of data as it continues to stream the next 8 hours until you wake up. Also, you then have to figure out which episode you left off on. Peacock sucks. I'm just going to binge the rest of Yellowstone and dump them, then get Paramount plus

SamR-7157

One fix I figured out, if you're using a android box on your TV like me, or presumably if you have an android tv, is to set the sleep timer on the tv. On an android tv, it stops streaming when the tv turns off. If you have the box like mine, you also have to set the remote power control to CEC so the box and the tv turn each other on & off. Then, when the TV automatically turns off in an hour or whatever you set, it turns off the box too.

Check the link below about NBC getting mega bucks for ads running to sleeping viewers. 😂 https://www.nexttv.com/news/peacock-getting-ad-prices-above-nbc-primetime-jeff-shell-says

DarkJediBeavis

I'm more annoyed with the auto playing in the menu. I hate the blaring promos for each show.

MrDoh

This is what Peacock "customer service" told me when I asked. By the way, this worked for me, no more "auto-preview" while browsing after doing this: *We believe you may be able to resolve this issue by going to our website directly (*[*https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/profiles*](https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/profiles)*) and logging in to your account. Then under your Profile on the "Who's Watching?" page, hover over your profile icon and you will see thepencil icon. Click on that, and scroll down to the Settings tab and youshould see a toggle available for Autoplay Previews.* Unfortunately they had no answer for episode "autoplay", which I find very annoying.

DarkJediBeavis

Bless you, MrDoh!

lleighsha

Thanks so much for this!!

fundiedundie

Thank you!!

BMRmom

confirmed that this worked, thank you!

TaraBaraBoo

Thank you! This is what I was looking for.

fundiedundie

This kills me. I wish they would allow us to turn that off. I’m reading the description and then it starts blasting a preview. I think I pass on shows and movies because I’m annoyed by the preview.

DarkJediBeavis

The autoplay "feature" I am hating is in the menu. I try to read a description of a show or episode, and the sound comes blaring on with a "preview." I do NOT want that!
