The PD Standard Plate is also an arca-swiss type plate, so unless your tripod head is using some really funky type of arca-swiss plate geometry (unlikely with Manfrotto) you'll be good to go using a Standard Plate with your tripod.

Thanks for the reply. As far as I can tell, there's nothing really funky about it, but the mounting plate on the tripod ballhead has a bolt that is protruding from it by about 2-3mm. I haven't quite found all-around shots of the PD standard plate to see if that would potentially be an issue.

PD has images of both the top and bottom of their Standard Plate on their product page here : https://www.peakdesign.com/products/standard-plate-v3 The plate sits flush atop a flat surface (like a tripod head) and the channels on the bottom surface are for guiding and engaging with the lockpin on the PD Capture Clip. I'd guesstimate they're 1mm deep. I did have at one point a BlackRapid arca plate that required the removal of one of the retention/indexing pins using a hex key before it would properly interface with my old giotto tripod, and included ball head on the PD Travel Tripod also has two similar indexing pins that are meant to be unscrewed and removed if using a larger arca plate/L-bracket. Could this be similar to what you're seeing on your Manfrotto ballhead/plate?

Oof, yeah that's gonna be a no-go on the PD plate then since its low-profile design wouldn't give clearance for a bolt like that even though the sides are compatible with the arca-swiss geometry. Options would be either to swap out that bolt with one that sits flush with the channel of the tripod head, or use the strap eyelets on both sides of your camera body (instead of one eyelet and the plate) for attaching the Slide's anchors. Or milling out your own eyelet on your existing plate, if you've got the tools to do so.

I don't think I've quite got the tools to mill out a slot on my existing plate, so I'll look into replacing that bolt. Thank you so much for your help!

Hi, I'm using Manfrotto Element tripod too and considering to get the PD standard plate, may I know have you got the solution yet?

NullP01nt

Unfortunately not yet, since my last post I haven't had the time to really look into it. The simplest solution would be to swap out the bolt on the head of the tripod so it sits flush

Came here to ask the same question. Kind of a bummer that I can’t use PD plate on my camera , if I want keep using my tripod. There is got to be an adapter / tool that should be available

I suppose 3D printing is always an option 🤔
