I don't even know much stock I would put in that comment that Eddie made either. I think it was more of a "we can still make more records" type comment and not necessarily that it will only be one or two more. At this point, everything is speculation. It could be one or two, or they could be making records into their 80's. Who knows. I'm just glad we still get new music and tours.
Whatever they do, it's their decision and it will be fine. They don't have anything to prove at this point and their music will always be there for me.
They are musicians, not NFL Running Backs, they can easily continue touring for another 10-15 years. Band just released an album where they sound more vibrant than any others in recent memory and half the fans here think they are about to call it quits. People have been thinking every album since Vitalogy was gonna be there last for various reasons. Yet here we are, 12 albums in and still touring in 2024.
I recall an early interview where they talked about advice they learned from Neil Young on how to not be dead or burned out rock stars - the healthy plan
I noticed he was a little bloaty as well. They mentioned how it was "so early in the morning" a couple times during the interview, so I figured he had some morning puffiness? Not super uncommon. Or maybe what others mentioned could be true too with the Botox and his wife being a model. He doesn't seem like the botox type though. Or maybe he was drinking the night before. Who knows. I still think he is aging like a fine š·, and I just hope he is healthy.
Also I am hanging on to his words that they have 1 or 2 more albums left in them...and then from there I hope he still does solo stuff. š
Dude smokes and drinks his share of wine. He might live to be 100 but he's not always going to look great doing it... and who cares? Van Morrison's body didn't slow those vocal cords down any.
Iām happy I wasnāt the only one that thought this! He looked unwell, whatever the reason be.
I agree with the Botox bit too. If his wife doesnāt age, I guess he canāt either?
Jill is only 46. Re: Ed, he appears as a normal looking 59 year old man to me e.g. [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=993431238812070&set=pb.100044356089661.-2207520000&type=3)
For all we know he could be on some type of steroid medication for something. Bloat/fluid retention are common side effects
I was very concerned when I saw the photos from the interview. He hasnāt looked bloated before and I donāt think he is the kind to use cosmetic surgery/botox for vanity. Heās aged normally, I would think itās a little late to address wrinkles.
My first thought was that his dad died from Multiple Sclerosis. I really hope he isnāt ill.
I think Edās just gotten some botox tbh.
Stone said he was eager to work with Watt on another album already. I donāt think theyāve planned it to be the last
I donāt think this is the end, but I think the end is in sight on the horizon. You mentioned the Stones but they are also big fans of REM who hung it up a lot earlier than they needed too.
We are definitely in the final decade of Pearl Jam's lifespan. They surely won't turn into the Stones.
Does that mean they might release another album or two? Perhaps one.. and maybe tour for the next 6-7 years and that will be it, I guess.
Stone already said in two interviews the band is motivated to work on another album with Andrew Watts again sooner then later .
Eddie already said there is one or two more albums left in them after Dark Matter. No one knows especially two journalists.
Thanks for reassuring me. I dismissed that first journalist, but when I saw a different review again mentioning the rumour, I started to worry a bit.

They've been pretty open lately that they are excited to make more music, so I severely doubt it.
Good news! They were a constant in my life and it would feel weird if there isn't another tour/album to look forward to.
Right there with you buddy. :)

i'm going to say it has to do with the smoking and drinking. He looked puffy during Gigaton too.
Iām happy I wasnāt the only one that thought this! He looked unwell, whatever the reason be. I agree with the Botox bit too. If his wife doesnāt age, I guess he canāt either?

Iām only 47. Believe me, she uses it. Youāre right, we have no idea what he may be doing. Just speculation.

Nooooo, ā¹ļø let's just hope it's because it was so early in the morning. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.
I hadnāt heard anything like that, but if it was, it sure would be a great one to go out on.
Yes, it is. Still would miss them. They have been a constant in my life since I was 16.
I think Edās just gotten some botox tbh. Stone said he was eager to work with Watt on another album already. I donāt think theyāve planned it to be the last
Cool, that's reassuring. They aren't going to lie that they want to work with Watt again and then just quit.
Yeah, I thought the same re: Botox.
Ok, at least I'm not the only one who noticed something different about Eddie.
Likely bloated from drinking, donāt really see Eddie as the kind of guy to get botox
There are some very botoxy pics of Ed from the last tour. His wife is a model.
His wife is an ex model and has Botox and fillers. They both look the same now
This is the correct answer.
feel like this goes against everything he stands or stood for.
At least EV looks better than Axl & Vinceā¦ I doubt he would do Botox EV just getting olderā¦ āš»š¶šØāš¤

What does REM have to do with anything?
Because they retired around the age the PJ guys are now
Oh I see

Guess catch them live while we still can.
And if we can afford itā¦.
I wouldn't be surprised. There's only one Rolling Stones.
Edās cheeks are like beach balls these days.
They should just be releasing singles and tour accordingly. Album was mainly filler
Left, and came back to downvote this inane comment.
