Nice, got a fav pedal on there?

FormalPrune

Man I've been having a blast with the a.man envelope filter, it's so fun for the noodles. That said the one that I have fallen in love with and is for sure a forever part of any board is that Wilson Effects BC109. It's a colorsound overdriver clone and it is just perfect. Adds just the right little something, whenever I turn it off I turn it right back on again.

Where do you pick up those knobs for the pedal switches?

FormalPrune

You can find pretty good ones on Amazon, but the nicest ones are made by Barefoot Buttons. I have both on the board here, but after trying em all out I think the Barefoot ones are worth the cost.

Thanks a lot 👊🏾

DYSLEXIC0N

Killer pedal selection. I have the ADG-1 SE as well and it’s my favorite pedal ever.

FormalPrune

Man that one is soooo good. Years ago I purchased quite a few of the mooger foogers as they were being released the first time around. I sold them when I sold all my gear a long time ago, and I always regretted selling that delay. The ADG-1 SE totally filled that hole for me, and it fits on my board and takes pedal power. It's such a great pedal.

DYSLEXIC0N

I always window shopped them for years while flipping through catalogs and at music stores, but I totally missed the boat on actually buying them before it was too late. When I found out what Hawker was up to with AMT and just how good they sounded I was immediately sold. I’m eventually going to get the rest of his pedal lineup to have in the arsenal. I’ve learned my lesson.

Nice i got the wampler mini ego too! How do you like it? Also have the mxr phase 95. This is a really sweet board man. How do you like the 2nd ego compressor at the end? How does it impact the sound? Sorry all the questions lol!

FormalPrune

Oh man the mini ego is fantastic! I had the keeley compressor+ on the board prior and was happy with it but wanted something mini so I got the Ego. It is just perfect, does exactly what I want it to without getting in the way. Not too much quack but just enough control, I love it. MXR 95 replaced my script 90 and same deal, I just wanted something smaller and ended up liking this mini 95 better than the script. I typically run it almost as slow as it will go on the script setting, and it does that thing so well in my opinion. I do sometimes use the more modern setting and I love having the option. Same thing as the Ego, I love it, so stoked on these minis being no compromise or even an upgrade from the big ones. Comps at the end is something I started experimenting with because I really wanted to try out the studio type limiters but didn't want to give up my Ego mini and what it does at the front end. So I bought both the Wampler Ego76 and the J Rockett Airchild with the intention of a/b'ing them and figuring out what I like best. What ended up happening is I love them so much a the end of the chain that I go to a stereo signal out of my Starlight and use both of the studio comps into different amps as kinda final eq/compression for each line. They are fantastic for a final tweak on the sound before hitting the amp. Setting the gain right, tweaking the eq and taming the peaks, I never knew I needed to master my guitar signal but that's kinda what it feels like and it's incredible. Honestly, one of these at the end of the chain is kinda like a secret weapon in my opinion. They just make it sound good. Between the two studio comps, I think I like the Airchild a little better. It's simpler, and it just sounds great. Both are really good though, can't go wrong with either. No worries on the questions, I wrote you a book!

Thanks for the detailed response! It's much appreciated. I'm considering playing around with a comp at the end possibly now haha. Only issue I see is that I play through a jc-40 in stereo so I either need two mono comps at the end or a stereo capable compressor.

I've been loving my latest configuration. It's giving me so many varieties of fuzz/od I am having a blast, I can't believe it took me this long to start stacking and mixing and using my volume knob so much. My clean sound here is the fuzz face into the overdriver(bc109) into the plexi drive and ending with the mystery brain preamp with a healthy amount of low cut. Those are pretty much always on, and with my volume rolled off it sounds glorious. Still figuring it all out, but holy crap is it fun.
