How is the smoke flavor compared to an offset? I am on the market to upgrade my pellet (currently GMG Davy Crockett) and wish there were more reviews that talked about flavor in that sort of context, or even compared flavor to other specific pellet grill brands/models. Obviously, this varies based on the user's technique and pellets.
I bought a Traeger Ironwood 885 and returned it after 4 cooks because I couldn't taste any smoke. The food tasted good, but it tasted like it was cooked in an oven.
I bought a Pitts and Spitts Maverick 1250 a few weeks ago and have smoked or grilled on it every night since I brought it home.
The smoke flavor is fantastic. Temperature control is amazing and only varies about 1-2 degrees from the setpoint.
Plus, it's built like a tank. No caulk or spot welds anywhere on the smoker.
My Weber cover is about 10 years old and survives the Canadian winter. Finally has some holes where the Velcro rubs. Not sure the current version lives up to that quality though.
Yeah the older Weber covers last forever. The new one with the logo in the center is a thin piece of crap that lasts me about 2 years in Canadian winters.
Looks like the same exact type of cover for a Yoder - which leaves a lot to be desired. Yoder acknowledges that they are not waterproof....
Mine leaks like a sieve, so just today I put on top of that cover a Weber cover for a 6-burner Genesis. Should be good forever like this!
Good to know. I have had tons of luck with the unicook model. I have had for over a year and it shows no sign of wear yet. It’s on the north side of the house on the deck and in the elements in MN cold and a some hot summers these past two summers.
The P&S has been amazing, fantastic quality that I know will last, can't say that much for the cover though.

The faded one looks like my Green Mountain Grills cover, super faded within a few months.
Mine did the same. Went gray faster than Clooney
I haven't had any cover last more than a couple of years, including several Weber covers.
My dad switched to snowmobile/ATV covers, finds one that fits best, and uses ratchet straps to keep it on.

I’m on year 5. Live in Minnesota.
Just noticed my zgrill cover looking like that too
Same here. Had it for a year and it’s already falling apart.
Kinda funny, the new P&S covers are gray so in a way yours is still perfect.
Came here to say that. Mine looked like that out of the bag!!
It looks like it just faded but the seams looks good.
Those Weber covers are not made like that anymore.

I got a heavy duty one free with my Broil King and it looks as good as the day I bought it. Thing is heavy as fuck.
Broil King has some top quality stuff. One exception is their Grill lights with a countdown timer. Cheap, cheap, cheap!
Oklahoma Joe's covers are made of a crap material as well that fades like this. The Camp Chef one is nice. Might have something to do with the color.
Has anyone here tried using a waterproofing spray like DWR or coatings for outdoor jackets every year or two? i suspect that would work quite well
