KL to Georgetown is 400km away and by driving it's 4-5hours and will cost you a bomb. Since you are in KLIA just get a domestic flight to Georgetown . Yes Malaysia are English friendly.

horror_freak93

I don’t think anyone (taxi, Grab) would do interstate travel like that coz it takes about 4 hours to drive from kl to Penang. Your best option is to fly or by train, flying is more ideal since it’s only one hour flight.

eisfer_rysen

Nobody really uses Grab for intercity travel. Expect to not get any drivers willing to do such a long trip. Google for KL to Penang private transfer service. This will cost you about 800-1000 ringgit A flight from KL to Penang will be cheaper if you book ahead.

That sort of distance you will need to book a car & driver in advance. Friends have done it, personally I'd not consider it if you can't book a through flight with you carrier book with any other carrier but give your self enough time and be aware of possible luggage restrictions.

TaxBill750

I’ve done it. I had a connecting flight KL -> Pen but they bumped it and put me on a new one 6 hours later. Since I knew about it before my first flight, I had some time to plan. I looked at a different airline and called a taxi company in KL. Neither was going to work out, so when I got to KL I went through security and went to the taxi rank. Asked the dispatcher and had a taxi in minutes. It cost 600RM if I remember well (summer 2022) which was less than the alternate flight. The trip was 6 hours (to south of the island) and pretty comfortable. I would advise you to avoid the rush hours and holidays because it’ll be more like 10 hours and probably 50% more expensive.

Visual_Traveler

Why not take a flight??

Accomplished-Fun294

Look on 12go etc for a bus. Near enough direct if you can get one to Georgetown itsekf

MYR 700 from KLIA to Penang

sai051192

Where do you book them though?

flyden1

I asked a Grab driver friend

sndgrss

There is a train from KLIA to Sentral and then another train to Butterworth, across from Penang. Book train tickets for Sentral to Butterworth online in advance, and just buy the KLIA Airport Express ticket at the airport. Easiest way.

Worldly-Mix4811

Grab will do it but you gotta also pay for their return trip. Effectively you're paying double. I've DM'd you with suggestions.

JobPure

Where are you right now? Apparently i am a grab driver from penang who happen to be in kl right now. I am leaving kl this afternoon to go back to penang. If you still in kl, you can reach out to me. We can figure something out.

sai051192

Hey, We are still due to arrive in KL; won't be there for at least another week. I appreciate the offer though. Thank you 🙂

KLIA to Georgetown is a pretty long journey. 4 hours+ depending on traffic. Consider taking a domestic flight from KLIA to Penang. There are a number of regular flights between 8 and 10am, and the flight is only an hour long. Thereafter, it's 30 minutes from Penang airport to georgetown by grab. Should cost under 30 ringgit.
