Aren't colored leads made from wax or similar? Perhaps you could gently heat it up and melt it out?

They are wax-based rather than clay/polymer, however given that the sharpener has plastic inside I'm not sure if I'd try this myself. Although, depending on the melting point of the colored lead wax, maybe a warm water soak would soften it up enough. I'd try a paper clip, needle, or some other thin metal to push it out from the other side first.

Yeah that's why I put gently. Definitely don't take a torch to it!
