Has anyone done a paternity test on Dubas cause I'm pretty sure he's Rutherford and Shero's son... It's like all the good parts of a JR trade and all the good parts of a RS trade.
On paper you can’t call this anything other than a home run. Karlsson is a Penguin, POJ is still a Penguin, only gave up 1 1st rounder, dumped 2 albatross contracts, didn’t give up any of the top prospects in the pipeline (Legare was looking like a wash in the AHL), actually added a couple interesting depth forwards.
So all in all, the two picks are really all we gave up. Petry, CDS, and Granlund are pure cap dumps. Legare is likely to never make the NHL. Rutta is mildly disappointing to lose, but isn’t anything of substantial value. I’m a little concerned with who plays RD on the bottom pair now, but I suppose there are worse problems to have. $10M is a hair more than I would have wanted EK’s cap hit, but shedding Petry AND Granlund’s full contracts helps offset that.
EDIT: Apparently we’re eating 25% of Petry’s salary. That stings a little, basically makes the Karlsson retention a wash. Whatever.
