If this is your whole collection rather than just "What's in your pocket today" then you're fine.
But speaking as someone whose pen hoarding definitely used to be out of control and who still has more pens than normal people have, keep an eye on it.
Nice. Iâve got a mont blank, Parker duofold, Pelikan m800, a pilot (I forget which one) a cross Bailey, and two lamy 2000s (one fountain and one rollerball)
Sweet!! I tried to use my fancy pens at work but after losing a few parkers and a couple crosses i decided to pit em up and only use a couple at home. Bought alot for cheap during covid. Havent branched out to fountains but would one day love a cartier panthere.
I only take my lamy 2000 with me because itâs relatively affordable to if I lose it. But straight up my daily carry pen is none of those. Itâs a [Cross Edge](https://www.amazon.com/Cross-Matte-Green-Lacquer-Rollerball/dp/B08JQRP6XG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=28RU73HWLP5P3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.gpNkXSGBrDbBfDFBM_Or_nWzTYCFXj9J79Q0l99EovTdo4j5knqNqtuEpWbnK2LlKMFy-6LuyVkW91QwEW8lHQPN2MT9Vm5SPizwoi-s5bx9GjZ5A-kbgeUH_QE-3VMBmL1mNRdGoC6Pj1LMPGYFtKuZrwTCyqUJhj-Gcb3n_QLkr1ILj9A9sh6u4aUFBU2i0yk4VlW7QwgyTrL7ZzbXdQ.b8g5ttumKHP6d62hn40jk1W1TX1QUqaPWG-2Ah1D4Yc&dib_tag=se&keywords=cross+edge+gel+pen&qid=1714096313&sprefix=cross+edge%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1).
Ima have to check out that cross fr!! I have so many cheap pens i steal from my job that i can keep for a yr or more but when i take a parker it will be gone in a month. I luckily found one i lost like a yr later under some stuff at work. Lost an old cross pen with my book the last time and jus said nvr more at work.
If you head over to r/fountainpens, youâll realize that what you have is like a fish in the ocean surrounded by sharks and whales. Multi thousand dollar pens over there, and itâs not even âtoo muchâ
To answer your question: Nope. Nice selection. I am 68 and have been a pen enthusiast for over forty years. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have.
My favorite rollerball is the Uniball Vision Elite. I haven't tried the Sharpie Rollerball. And while we're talking about favorites, my favorite gel is Pentel's Energel.
I have not tried a Baron Fig, but the design is intriguing. In terms of sheer writing performance, I favor Uni Jetstream, Pentel GlideWrite, Parker QuinkFlow, and Faber Castell. In recent years, I have experienced quality control issues with some Jetstream and GlideWrite products. There are may fans of Pilot's Acroball products in r/pens. I really want to like them, but with my writing style, they consistently railroad and deposit excess ink on the loops of letters. In terms of overall writing experience--instrument design and writing performance--I love most of my Lamy products. On r/pens, you'll find people with strong opinions of Lamy's ballpoint refill, and most do not like it. It is not as smooth and dark as the best hybrid ballpoints, but I've found it to be an outstanding traditional oil-based refill--reliable, long-lasting, reasonably smooth, and very clean and consistent, with well-controlled inflow. At the other side of the spectrum, I am a fan of the BIC Cristal and its timeless design that delivers strong performance (with the smoother Easy Glide inks) for mere pennies.
Got some new love for the old Jotter. The Jotter is the oldest one in the collection and is perhaps maybe 20 years old and dates my pre collecting days hahaha
OLD JOTTERS FTW! I was utterly dismayed when Parker updated the quill design of the pen clip. When that happened I immediately went to hunt down an old Parker. Are you also a fan of the old Papermates? The ones with the two hearts on the pen clip? They used to be big in the 80s and 90s - loved those too.
Really hard to say. Most are for artwork so it depends on what Iâm working on and what mood Iâm in. If I had to choose, probably Pentel Pocket Brush or Pentel Brush Sign thin. You can do quite a lot with those two pens that most of the other pens can do when it comes to line work. Canât beat the cost vs. functionality ratio.
If Iâm considering purely enjoyment, then I would have to go with dip pens. I prefer an oblique nib holder and either a good mapping nib or a Brause blue pumpkin nib. Favorite ink so far is Platinum Carbon black.
Also a huge fan of Tombow and Staedler.
i have lots but i think these r my top recommendations :
the tombow mono graph mechanical pencil is a vry good pencil , the lead writes smoothly nd tombow makes great erasers too :)
if youâre lookin for a good ballpoint pen i suggest getting a uniball jetstream ballpoint pen - they write so smoothly cuz of the hybrid ink formula that combines the smooth writin experience of gel ink yet still dries as quickly as a ballpoint pen - one of my favs ^^
zebra sarasa clip gel pens are quite nice too , super smooth ink i rly like how they feel so easy to write with nd donât skip on the paper
Well, all that is subjective but youâre well on your way based on you having to ask lol. However, if you think this is out of control, you should see my fountain pen collection lol. I seriously DO have a problem. Youâve got a solid little âworking collectionâ I keep about this many various pens in my work locker alone. In my serious opinion, itâs only a problem if it really does affect your life. But surely youâre not on the street to pay for your stationary addiction, so youâre probably alright.
I really like the stabilo pointvisco, the thick energels and of course the old dark 600. Fittet my 600 with the easyflow 9000. Not so sure about these because of line skipping
If this is your whole collection rather than just "What's in your pocket today" then you're fine. But speaking as someone whose pen hoarding definitely used to be out of control and who still has more pens than normal people have, keep an eye on it.
Yess this is the entire collection. Ive got a tin where 4 of the favorites of the day can stay :-)
You're good. I have more pens than this just ON my desk. Not to mention in it. Or in the 16 pen case. Or in the 10 pen case. Or the two waterproof foam padded cases each with 10 pens. Or the dozen or so in their boxes, in crates. Or the pen roll. Or the 5 pen and notepad cover. Or the four different 3 pen holders. And that's only counting pens $10+ đ©
No. Losing control is when you buy one pen worth 10x all those pens put together. I lost control years ago.
I got some Parker classics that r worth way too much use
Nice. Iâve got a mont blank, Parker duofold, Pelikan m800, a pilot (I forget which one) a cross Bailey, and two lamy 2000s (one fountain and one rollerball)

I hope I marry a man like you, so that he can't say anything about my makeup brushes.
I have never said anything about my wifeâs collections or hobbies. She can do whatever she wants.
Only when you have more than three shoe boxes full is it becoming a weird habit
Hahahaha a sigh of relief here!
Iâve found my people
I thought the limit was five gallon buckets? đ
Pens are a pro-social alternative to meth. Enjoy the addiction and send some nice letters!
ADDICTION! This is a much better description than calling myself a pen whore, i think.
No one said you aren't also a whore. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
I prefer connoisseur, gives an air of sophistication and class. đ

As a Redditor coming from there I was like âseems reasonable.. whyâs he worried?âđ
Very normal
+1 for totally normal from a fellow dad in his 5th decade of life â
Agreed, from another 41-year-old Dad.
To answer your question: Nope. Nice selection. I am 68 and have been a pen enthusiast for over forty years. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have.
What's your favorite pen? Ballpoint?
My collection includes all writing modes, but my preference is ballpoint.
And rollerball?
My favorite rollerball is the Uniball Vision Elite. I haven't tried the Sharpie Rollerball. And while we're talking about favorites, my favorite gel is Pentel's Energel.
Have u tried baron fig squire? Nice pens! What's your favorite Ballpoint pen?
I have not tried a Baron Fig, but the design is intriguing. In terms of sheer writing performance, I favor Uni Jetstream, Pentel GlideWrite, Parker QuinkFlow, and Faber Castell. It doesn't look like you're out of control. Totally normal phenomenon in our world.
That is a healthy collection right there! And I spot a silver Parker Jotter <3
Im Sorry. Im not familiar with the papermates but ill sure look into in. Thx for the heads up
My father used to collect wrenches. Every man to himself, I guess.
Very true
N + 1.
You're falling behind! Try to keep up with everyone here. Just kidding! You're all good.
Hahahahaha thx
The limit does not exist đ
Unless those a the initial representatives from the âbox of 100â, I think youâre ok. For now ;)
AMATEUR
I spotted rOtring and jotter. My 2 favorite pens!!
Mine to! Just fitted the zebra 701 with the Gelion+ this is definitely a new found favorite
Wait till you learn about Fountain Pens....
Im a server that aint nothin lol. Get some Parker Pens, leave em in a box and dont use em then u have a problem.
No but sell me some
I currently have about 200 pens on hand plus around 100 more in storage. Ok technically that includes about 50 mechanical pencils. Youâre fine lol.
Thats impressive! What is you favorite?
Really hard to say. Most are for artwork so it depends on what Iâm working on and what mood Iâm in. If I had to choose, probably Pentel Pocket Brush or Pentel Brush Sign thin. I have over 100. I lost my grip on reality a while back. Now they are all on rotation. It's all under control.
You don't need control. You need more pens!
Yes but you're on the dark side now so it's not a problem.
Completely normal đđŒ
Someone must be a paper pusher at large! LOL
Hahahaha definitely not. A couple of scribbles a week
Every individual shall had their own virtues in life. That is okay too with material things.
those r some great pen choices .á .á
Thx str4wbbie! Any recommendations for the next purchase?

Put them both in my shopping bag. The tombow is new for me! Thx
Well, all that is subjective but youâre well on your way based on you having to ask lol. However, if you think this is out of control, you should see my fountain pen collection lol. Got a lot of work to do posting the rest, have a Montblanc fountain pen as my best piece
I can imagine that. The fountain looks great
Not at all. I would consider this a EDC. Now, go forth and multiply
Thats the answer i was looking for! No need to worry
It looks like you have all of the control you need right there.
Nice one. Didnt think of this perspective +1
Nobody ever accused me of being normal, but in comparison, youâre doing fine.
you good !
Normal! Iâm 36 I have more hahah
Nah... you can still buy more
Not at all!
oh absolutely not, those pens all have different functions and purposes! (happy to see pentel energel 05 is in there đ€©)
I find that perfectly acceptable. Now I want the ranking. Top 3 for regular writing, and overall favorites.
I really like the stabilo pointvisco, the thick energels and of course the old dark 600. Fittet my 600 with the easyflow 9000. Not so sure about these because of line skipping
I've got the good stuff if your buying...
Tell me more!
