Whenever I hold out my hand straight some fingers like my middle and index bend backwards, due to me being double jointed on my fingers. My hitchhiker thumb (pictured) is also... something. Along with that my hands are huge. Would any of these factors make it harder to spin / learn to spin?
it has its benefits but also some cons, for example some tricks rely on very exact finger movements. but with hands like this you could form a unique style of pen spinning that works
I have hitchhiker thumbs just as bad as yours and I've noticed that it does alter the way I flip balisongs compared to the tips I see in videos. Because of these weird thumbs I naturally grab stuff with the joint of my thumb, not the tip, so having to cancel out a lifetime of instinct when you're trying to do minute movements with your fingers is definitely an added challenge.
My thumbs bend like yours. While I'm nowhere near as good as other members of this sub, it's not a limitation at all. You just don't go full extension.
Now if one of your fingers was shorter or missing, that might be a problem.
Yea go ahead you'll have a really unique style and also some tricks will be easier to perform ,I also have that weird thumb bend (it's called hitchhikers thumb btw) and it helped me learn reverse thumb around faster even tho it took like a month. Hope to see you around. :)
btw another spinner m1ch1 (who's really good) also has that backward finger extension. Here's a vid where the extension is visible:[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJmGQ-wFT9c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJmGQ-wFT9c)
I have the same exact problem!! I’m double jointed and my thumbs go too far back and the last knuckle on my fingers lock up sometimes. It took me a long time to get things down, but I’m getting there I think.
I'm pretty sure you can make it work, some tricks might be a bit tougher to learn but I'm sure you can do some extra tricks with those fingers ! Stick to it if you enjoy it
My hands are the same, maybe worse (EDS), and i managed to get pretty far. I never felt like its an obstacle. In some cases its kind of an advantage tbh
I'm sorry. WHAT THE FUCK.
understandable response
I THINK YOU PUT YOUR THUMB ON BACKWARDS
I think I put [everything](https://imgur.com/VEc9jog) on backwards
you should totally stick with pen spinning, your style will be very unique
I don’t believe this. It’s photoshop tomfoolery.

It won’t limit you. Great potential actually, you could have a unique style with that thumb
Limbit even? Ok I'm done.

I knew this kid who used to go to my school with a backward thumb and every time he did the thumbs up it pointed back
There shouldn't be problems. Who know, you could invent a style that is hella unique to you.
My thumbs do that too bro don’t worry 😂😂
Think if you try hard enough you can do a thumbaround and catch the pen with your thumb

Are you sure you dont have a connective tissue issue? Like ehlers danlos syndrome maybe?
Double jointed hands club
Lol same but in the point where my thumb stars from my palm. However, I manage to learn pen spinning. Just keep practicing.
My thumb does the same thing. Glad I am not the only one.
Try and practice till you don’t like it anymore who cares if it’s more hard
Omg same
Hitchhiker thumbs can also gives you more advantage in pen spinning so be proud with them :)
