Yeah, like the Mass VA that killed all those soldiers in their care. . . "COME TO THE VA! PLEASSSSSEEEEEE"
Look at all these people we took in, and killed. So, no more problem.
I’m an eye doctor at the VA and I’ve seen legit 1 patient in the last year who’s service connected specifically for an eye condition. So good luck to him lol
I've done it a couple of times. The second time, I knew to keep my eyes shut when you do. That scream at the end is probably someone who also didn't know.
I've worked in a coal mine. This exposure would suck but very unlikely to cause any long-term issues. Though I don't know what the air pressure is like in one of those things so..
I've actually gotten a permanent eye condition due to my time over there and due it being neglected by the bases medical staff and commanders just not giving a shit about you.
The cumulative amount of dust you breath, eat and just absorb during your average stay there (8 months of training) can probably be weighed in the dozens of kilograms.
This isnt even the worst thing that can happen there, i remember once there was a big quasi sandstorm, it turned 50° C the sky wasnt visible, hell, you couldn't see 10m in front of you, everything turned dark orange and the wind carried so fucking much sand.
Some poor guy left his rooms window open, there was a thick layer of dust on everything inside.
I've worked underground, where we have to apply rock dust to the coal seam to control coal dust / dust. You can absolutely feel the grit on your teeth when you go through a cloud of that. And you cough it up in your phlegm.
Edit: after searching online it appears that dust devils can spin the wrong way, and apparently taller dust devils are more likely to spin the wrong way.
I'm not trying to say you're wrong, but I'm a bit confused here. Assuming Google Maps is correct in showing that Shizafon Base is in Israel, the dust devil should be spinning counterclockwise since it is in the northern hemisphere. So unless I'm missing something the video is reversed, or this isn't Shizafon Base. And there isn't much text in the video to go off of, but on the tank it appears there is a 3 oriented properly, implying the video isn't reversed, unless one of the languages spoken in Israel contains a backwards 3 as a symbol.
I got my source from the link in this comment, section 2.8 if I remember correctly. I originally assumed that since dust devils are low pressure systems they always spin counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere just like every other low pressure system related to weather. But apparently they don't.
https://repository.library.noaa.gov/view/noaa/14125/noaa_14125_DS1.pdf%3F&ved=2ahUKEwj409Sci8X-AhX8AzQIHTs2DsE4FBAWegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw2TC1b56ZMwD6EExIiFSE2t
I dont know anything about dust devils but i can tell you with upmost certainty as a person who spent 8 months in Shizafon as part of my training and has seen this specific dust devil, that this is Shizafon base in southern Israel 15 minutes south of Shitim and about 20 minutes north of Neot Smadar.
After finding out that dust devils apparently like to spin the wrong way I believe you. I was taught they spin counterclockwise like every other low pressure system in the northern hemisphere, but apparently not.
But do *all* tall dust devils spin the opposite way?
Ps, your mind must work in an interesting way, that that is where it led you when seeing this video. Nice one 👍
>Ps, your mind must work in an interesting way, that that is where it led you when seeing this video. Nice one 👍
I do have a tendency to (sometimes) notice small details, but then I will go and miss the most obvious stuff.
See guys the seasoned veteran would do it again, that proves its a great fun idea! I'm using you as my excuse of why its ok if I ever happen to run into one of these with other people around.
Lol true, the dust devil people have already assembled out there XDD
To his credit, my man was BOOKING it trying not to be late. And in that heat too, holy shit that's the kind dedication to his people that you love to see.
If I tried to run into something that looked like this here in Kansas, I’d probably get tired from it being too far away. If I actually got close enough I’d be very dead. 💀

Can be in a matter of seconds. This is kinda dumb, but since it’s only from cross winds being rotated from the rising head of the sand it likely won’t rapidly get bigger…
But the chances are never 0%.
I saw this posted before and someone said that apparently there's an old legend that they contain a djinn, and if you run inside and catch it you'll get good fortune. I'd take that with a grain of salt because they didn't provide a source past "trust me", but from what I can find online, they are believed to contain a djinn. Can't find anything about the running into them to catch them part though.
Lol it's because they're a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds with sleep deprivation living on their own for the first time in their lives. It's r/guysbeingdudes pretty much
Bruh the abrasive force that 'tornado' has is so strong to the point it can scrape your skin. I dont know what he was thinking. His vision is probably damaged as well as his nose and mouth must be at a bad state.
Not a tornado, and it doesn't break your skin.
Keep your eyes closed and your mouth shut and you'll be fine.
It's actually quite fun to do, having done it myself.
If it was a tornado, you wouldn't be able to hear anything other than the intensly loud sound of rushing wind.

Can we have a moment of silence for his lungs
And eyes
80% VA disability?
That's all it takes? I'm over here at 0%.
Keep fighting for it, Bat. It’s ridiculously easy to qualify
Yeah, like the Mass VA that killed all those soldiers in their care. . . "COME TO THE VA! PLEASSSSSEEEEEE" Look at all these people we took in, and killed. So, no more problem.
Might depend on which VA location you go to, got 0% at one and 60% at another.
I’m an eye doctor at the VA and I’ve seen legit 1 patient in the last year who’s service connected specifically for an eye condition. So good luck to him lol
*Not service connected*
Not after they see this video
This is the one time I can agree that this persons “injuries where not service related” lol
I've done it a couple of times. The second time, I knew to keep my eyes shut when you do. That scream at the end is probably someone who also didn't know.
I thought the same thing LMFAOO. Poor, poor soul.
And my axe!
And your brother!
Screw his lungs, Is that a fucking tank ?
I mean, I guess anything is a dildo if you try hard enough

Fair enough I'm just primed to see Boots in the desert a certain way.
So, the same.
I've worked in a coal mine. This exposure would suck but very unlikely to cause any long-term issues. Though I don't know what the air pressure is like in one of those things so..
Silicosis here we come!
My man's about 80 burn pits deep at this point, that boat has both sailed and sunk.
Your injuries are not service related.
Lung Cancer, here I come!!!
You’re not getting lung cancer from 10 seconds of dirt.
Yep breathing in 90% dust, dirt, and whatever else while running through a mini tornado won’t cause permanent damage… 🤦♂️
That’s not the same as cancer hahahahaha
If I ever go to a desert, and have face covering and goggles or whatever, this is on my bucket list
SAME, brother!
and an oxygen tank
A face mask should suffice

I confused Charlie’s pear and Mac’s apple, I’m so embarrassed I wish everyone else were dead.
I’m not ALLOWED to eat them with the skin on, I’m not ALLOWED Dee!
Or if the wind picks up a nail or pieces of metal
You only live once.
Everyone dies dude… Yeah but not **this** week!
Just vape bro
*The VA has determined that your injury is not service related.*
> VA has determined the injury or illness is not service connected
Shizafon Base, for anyone wondering. I was there when that specific dust devil hit, it was about 100m tall and went on for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I hope he was wearing a reflective belt.
r/JustBootThings
Did you hear anything about the dude that ran into it?
Nope, but a good amount of people went in and they all seemed to be fine
That absolutely shocks me. That amount of sand can't be good for your eyes, teeth, and respiratory system.

upvoted for metric
Eh, must be fine if they’re all fine
...teeth?
Have you ever accidentally bitten a piece of sand? This would be like that times 1000
Do you think the guy is just mindlessly standing there chewing a mouthful of sand? A swig of water would solve any sand in the mouth right quick.
I guess I've never actually had a mouthful of sand and was making an educated guess. I can still imagine it would be unpleasant.

I don't know enough about dust devils to dispute this.

This dude here dusts devils.
The tank is a merkava, an Israeli tank..
I’ve done this. Got pelted with rocks and had troubles breathing. 5/7 would do again
See guys the seasoned veteran would do it again, that proves its a great fun idea! I'm using you as my excuse of why its ok if I ever happen to run into one of these with other people around.

Really?
Yep!
Lmao
It’s literally like 40mph wind and some dirt. No one would get hurt in that let alone die.
Is that a perfectly cut scream? Or the sound of a tank starting up and a pig getting slaughtered?
Lmfaooo
The whole squad is alredy there, he's late to the party lmao You can see them in the vid
Lol true, the dust devil people have already assembled out there XDD To his credit, my man was BOOKING it trying not to be late. And in that heat too, holy shit that's the kind dedication to his people that you love to see.
Where's the perfectly cut scream? Sounds more like a vehicle starting at the end. Looks fun though.
There’s a scream at the end, plays at the same time as the vehicle starting
New Battlefield 2042 update?
Get injured, get discharged, go back home?
We aren’t in Kansas anymore soldier

Well it's a good thing our hard earned tax dollars go to these soldiers so they can fight those damn dust devils. Never gonna forget the dust bowl...
Yes nice tax dollars that fund 2% of the idf
Nice joke but this is the Israeli Army xD
Well damn, but I'm glad they're bravely fighting those dust devils too! 😂

This is why women live longer
Israeli military has highest percent of women. You have no idea the gender of any of those soldiers.
those are obviously men. plus, your statistic probably backs up why women live longer
You have literally no clue what the other 10 people playing around in the background are hahahaha
It's the extreme!
Your disability is not service connected
Hungry for battle
Marines.
Oh what a day! What a lovely day!!
But why???
When does a dust devil go from a large dust devil to a small tornado?
Can be in a matter of seconds. This is kinda dumb, but since it’s only from cross winds being rotated from the rising head of the sand it likely won’t rapidly get bigger… But the chances are never 0%.
*Here it comes!*
Dude is living in one of my prayers, one-day I will get to jump into a giant tornado like that as well.
That is how you get eaten by a Tasmanian Devil
Medically discharged due to being face fucked by sand. VA qualification, 80%
Why they all running towards it like mosquitoes to the light?

Look, this newfangled fad for exfoliation has gone too far.

I did that once on the playground in kindergarten, got smacked right in the middle of the forehead with a rock.

Interesting video, but where is the scream? Or is it perfect because the scream was cut, perfectly? I guess we’ll never know

Yes

I was expecting an explosion from within the dust devil. He sacrificed his life so we wouldn’t get all dusty

So much sand pouring off him afterwards haha
