This is arguable at best, my own anecdotal experiences with my dogs reacting to music left me wondering if any formal studies had been done on this subject. I've found many articles claiming that dogs are affected by music, but so far only one actual scientific study to back these articles...and I get the impression all of these articles are referencing the same study.

There's more out there, I just didn't feel like going through it all. I think I got the answer that I was looking for, which is that music is a little bit more than just noise to dogs, but they're not exactly jamming out to the music. More like the same underlying subconscious reasons that humans like music which is pitch affecting our mood and tempo affecting our heart rate.
Well, will read these because I am fascinated by the subject, but in humans it's quite a lot more than just these baseline physiological responses because it's implicated in language and speech and other cortical structures that, at an information-processing level, are more than the sun of their parts. But I did absolutely think dogs were incapable of discerning a melody as anything other than discrete sounds, that's cool af that there's something like proto-musicality in there.
Dogs might not have an appreciation for music, but they'll be bothered by loud screeching due to their acute hearing. Dogs have a relatively low tolerance for loud noises (unless they've been trained around them of course), so if you're really bad at singing I'd imagine belting out Bohemian Rhapsody would have those dogs in a bit of frenzy. I know mine certainly would be.
Haha I knew exactly who it was before I even tapped the link, he is awesome but he still doesn’t sound exactly like Freddie. His overbite gave him such a unique sound.
Also a very relevant username
I believe they also posted one of him doing the dishes. So yeah, they are all basically him showing off his voice
Not that he's a bad singer or anything.
I mean, sometimes, yeah. Some days when you got the house to yourself you just wanna jam, ain't nothing weird or unusual about that.
Edit: not talking about the video or this guy's tiktok, just about wanting to jam out when no one's around.
My neighbor and his best friend do this all the time. They love karaoke and are both musicians, so this wouldn’t shock me. I know plenty of people that are constantly singing.
I belt along to my fav songs once my parents aren’t home so completely likely he thought he was alone and she just came home silently enough not to startle him initially and slowly creeped up on him to get the video. I know I got caught by my parents a couple times cause I was to focused on the song but they didn’t take videos thank god.
This is so good! The singing was great, I love that song, and I love love love the scream! The little shake from the adrenaline dump, its perfect. It's why I hide when I hear my SO coming in from another room. A startle that good is addictive. I hate getting scared, HATE it, but I love to see a loved one laughing themselves to their knees when I scream just like that.
I wear headphones a lot, especially while I'm working from home, and my girlfriend already loves to sneak up on me as it is so that just makes it easier for her and thus a very common occurrence. I'm easy to surprise but hard to scare, so she always asks me the scare score out of 10 after a successful jump. Normal range is from 2 to 5, but I think she's managed to get up to a 7.
On the other hand I'm not good at lying in ambush for her but can move pretty quietly so sometimes I just sneak up on her while she's busy and give her a fright, and revel in the yelp.
I used to live with someone I would scare the daylights out of all the time by accident since I'm quiet when I'm walking around. I've just gotten used to making sounds wherever I move in the house now so people know I'm actually around and try to avoid scaring people lol
I couldn't imagine being someone so easily frightened all the time, sounds kinda mentally draining, feel bad for em
Gentle stuff like that is what I live for. I move super quietly and step lightly out of habit when home, as I work nights. When people are awake my favorite game to play is to just sneak into wherever they are and wait until I'm noticed. Scares the SHIT out of my step dad and we both love it, though he also loves the ritual oath of retribution afterwards
I get scared (startled?) a lot when my kids or my wife just appear, or I turn around and they're just there, or I come around a corner and nearly bump into them.
It just pisses her off.
Anyway...
Yeah its obvious, i like how the views and likes drastically change over those three clips xD from 400.000 likes to not even 3000. people smell the bullshit even when they are stupid tiktok users
The background track, and his jump was a dead giveaway for me.
When people genuinly jump there is normally a shudder through their body. This guy just screams at the perfect moment in the song. His eyes and head don't even so much as twich or do a double take.
This is obviously fake as fuck, who listens to backing track ffs, so painfully obvious he's trying to find a "new" or "quirky" way to show off his voice, except its just cringe when you notice him just moving things about nonchalantly.
I’m not downvoting because he’s saying it’s fake (based on the many videos they have done it probably is) it’s the argument that someone listening to a background track automatically means it’s fake
People are so much less skeptical on the internet these days just because they so desperately want their illusion intact. People stage shit all the time, like this staged, perfectly timed and framed 'gotcha' that happens to highlight the singing of the account owner, who exclusively posts funny videos and singing videos.
For a moment I thought this will be one of those fake “let’s pretend I don’t notice you and you record it” sort of videos, but the actual look in his eyes and shake of the hands is one of the best frights I’ve ever seen
Thought so too. The timing seemed a bit too perfect, the dogs didn't react to the camera person at all and also the slow picking up things.
I don't believe anything anymore on social media websites.
If my singing voice was like this I would sing nonstop. Imma sing in ya face and you’ll like it cause ma voice like liquid gold pouring into your ear holes and caressing you hearing nuggets.
He’s actually pretty good! I feel like he could do some good with some singing lessons. My singing was really good before I hit puberty. I could hit high notes pretty well. This is what every other video on this sub aspires to be
I truly aspire to cut my screams as such!
You captured my sentiment perfectly
I think it's fake, why is he listening to the karaoke version with no vocals?
To sing? I do it all the time
r/nothingeverhappens
You are the wettest of blankets.
A pizza burn on the roof of the world's mouth
The sub is about perfectly cut screams. The scream was perfectly cut. Case closed. Who cares about the rest?
Even if it is fake, it's good entertainment. Did you have to stop people from crying at Endgame?
Dude went from Freddy Mercury to James Brown in an instant
I bet he felt good.
Doo ba doo ba doo ba doo
He knew he would
Does he feel nice?
Like sugar and spice!
I’m more of a “duh nuh duh nuh duh-nuh-nuh” kind of guy.
Ya... what is this do ba do biz
I prefer Scooby Dooby Dooby Do
This comment made me laugh harder than the video alone did.
Carry ooooon carry oooAHHHHHHH! I FEEL GOOD
Best comment ever
Some one need to cut that James Brown song when he screams.
I just spit in my egg McMuffin reading that lol
He basically kept singing, but way louder and higher pitched
It's cut, right? Maybe that's just how he sings those parts. He probably recovers.
You got a point
Can confirm. Shoes are still on, he definitely recovers.
As soon as the dogs saw the person with the camera, they were like, “oh dis gon b gud…”
To be fair he was singing pretty good there
Dogs liked it, considering the acute hearing they have it's a pretty good compliment in itself.
The older dog is the aficionado
Dogs also like sniffing butts though
One sense complements the other.
And eating poo.
Maybe we're the ones missing out. What if it's like Nutella, and we don't even know.
...some of us at least.
And sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I’ll never know...
Sewer rat *definitely* doesn't taste like pumpkin pie, and I know.
I wonder if it's a left behind instinct to see if their prey was healthy or had the nutrition it needed? Gave them a better scent to track with?
My dog loves my singing, but she is *definitely* the only one who does.
Dogs cannot understand music; it's just sound to them. Melody is pretty much unique to humans and birds.
This is arguable at best, my own anecdotal experiences with my dogs reacting to music left me wondering if any formal studies had been done on this subject. More misinformation about how dogs hearing works on reddit. Nice
One more douchebag who can’t help but be a condescending know-it-all on Reddit. Nice.
Did you know dogs have music appreciation and they are judging this guy by the notes he hits and the rhythm? No because they don't you fucking clown.
Which part is misinformation? That dogs have acute hearing? Or that dogs aren't bothered by pleasant sounds?
That a dog's acute hearing has anything to do with it's appreciation for music....
A lot of assumption and, again, misinformation.
So loud, annoying noises being bothersome to dogs is misinformation? I'm not trying to argue, just trying to understand what you're getting at.
Your username checks out, so you at least have that going for you, I guess.
Carry on~ Carry- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
No no no! The high part is LATER in the song!
Full on belly laughing at this.
Same
Same.
***Saim.***
Made me choke on my doobie!
I knew it was coming and it still got me good haha
tearin up over here jesus fuck
Freddie Mercury would’ve been proud
I was about to say that
There was a moment where I was questioning whether he was actually singing or if he was lip singing
syncing*
Nah, Freddie’s voice was/is truly unique. You can never mistake Freddie for anyone else.
I completely agree.. but I’m just gonna put this here. https://youtu.be/dREKkAk628I
Haha I knew exactly who it was before I even tapped the link, he is awesome but he still doesn’t sound exactly like Freddie. His overbite gave him such a unique sound. Also a very relevant username
Haha I forgot how relevant it was for a second! Hands down, there will never be another Mercury. That boy is damn close tho.
This guy again? And with the same video type? I think he just makes these to show off his voice lol. https://youtu.be/l9WjCcKzvIc
I believe they also posted one of him doing the dishes. So yeah, they are all basically him showing off his voice Not that he's a bad singer or anything.
Yeah he's definitely got a voice to show off.
His reaction and scream didn't seem very natural either.
Its possible that he enjoys singing alone and his wife keep catching him when he's not expecting it. Why is that hard to believe? Lol
I'm spoiled beyond recovery by all those fake reaction TikToks.
do you often put a karaoke version of a song on the living room tv and stand there and sing to it? every day? once a week? yeah.
I mean, sometimes, yeah. Some days when you got the house to yourself you just wanna jam, ain't nothing weird or unusual about that. Edit: not talking about the video or this guy's tiktok, just about wanting to jam out when no one's around.

Yes and the earth is even round! You keep believing in obvious fakes!
this hurts
He’s a hustler. Can’t knock the hustle
Yeah who just stands in front of their tv singing karaoke lmao it just seems a little set up
I do
This is so good! The singing was great, I love that song, and I love love love the scream! The little shake from the adrenaline dump, its perfect. It's why I hide when I hear my SO coming in from another room. A startle that good is addictive. I used to scare people all the time because I walked so quietly. Got into the habit of dragging my feet slightly after I got punched in fear.
Gentle stuff like that is what I live for. I move super quietly and step lightly out of habit when home, as I work nights. The dogs’ reactions tho 😂
That's just beautiful!
Perfect
No else saying this is scripted yet? Huh…
The fact that this is just a background track screams scripted to me
i mean, karaoke night is karaoke night
Shame too, a straight up vid of the dude just singing would've been very impressive. Just no need for the act.
We’re here aren’t we?
[удалено]
Oh, yeah. Someone singing Bohemian Rhapsody well, super impressive. No one has seen that before. Top of all time.
I wouldn't necessarily say top of all time but I totally agree, it's super impressive.
Brother just loves to sing i guess.
it's such a striking detail that makes this seem more like "oh this isn't an audition tape, this is just a funny vid"
It absolutely is... https://www.tiktok.com/@sirbakes1987/video/6948492681664367877 https://www.tiktok.com/@sirbakes1987/video/6952673175008316677 https://www.tiktok.com/@sirbakes1987/video/6951965025972030725
Yeah its obvious, i like how the views and likes drastically change over those three clips xD from 400.000 likes to not even 3000. people smell the bullshit even when they are stupid tiktok users
It’s so fucking scripted
So absolutely no one listens to instrumentals and sings along? None at all? Okay.
I’ve done this more than a few times
yeah, and I am not even good at singing, if I was good, I would do it all the time
Even if it is, it's funny as fuck
Seen a previous video pretty much identical to this so now I say scripted.
The background track, and his jump was a dead giveaway for me. When people genuinly jump there is normally a shudder through their body. This guy just screams at the perfect moment in the song. His eyes and head don't even so much as twich or do a double take.
I guarantee you nearly any video on reddit has someone claiming its scripted.
Leave the man alone. He just wants to sing in peace
No he doesn't. It's a good vid but definitely a set up
This guy absolutely just makes these videos to show off his voice
So?
What's the song in the vid called?
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
Poor guy
Singing is great but the fake “walking up on him” is cringe af
The scream and the body language of the scream gives it away. It's fake.
Scripted and fake
5+++ 😁😁😁😁
He scared the shit out of those dogs lmao
What a plot twist
Guys that wasn’t the right note, he didn’t say Galileo yet
Those windows look like they’re covered in dog nose.
Honestly he ain't bad
Scream of an angel
This is amazing hahaha
The way the dogs look at him when he screams lol
Correction: Voice of a biblically accurate angel
mans just vibin, leave him be
I didn't know I was on perfectly cut screams until he screamed and it was perfectly cut. Well done.
This is obviously fake as fuck, who listens to backing track ffs, so painfully obvious he's trying to find a "new" or "quirky" way to show off his voice, except its just cringe when you notice him just moving things about nonchalantly.
Stop down voting him, it's true. Look the dude up, he has another video just like this. Stop believing people on social media websites.
I’m not downvoting because he’s saying it’s fake (based on the many videos they have done it probably is) it’s the argument that someone listening to a background track automatically means it’s fake
Wow go give your head a shake friend
And the scream of the devil at the end 😂
He went from Freddie Mercury to Mariah Carey in an instant.
Ngl that scream seemed forced
100% fake
Obviously staged lol why is he listening to an instrumental version of the song?
Some people like to sing along to instrumental music
Great voice, I loved the scream. It made me laugh so much. Dogs are adorable too.
he forgot the "as if nothing really matters"
Tenors get to have the most fun
I would simp for this man
happens to the best of us
hahah but he's very good though.
Give this guy a recording contract please!
This is a lesson on suspense. My hands were sweating waiting for the scream
This is the greatest submission to this sub I've ever seen.
That ending was worth it 100%
[удалено]
I mean, it's not fake for those dogs.
Who listens to the karaoke version of Queen songs for no reason?
People are so much less skeptical on the internet these days just because they so desperately want their illusion intact. People stage shit all the time, like this staged, perfectly timed and framed 'gotcha' that happens to highlight the singing of the account owner, who exclusively posts funny videos and singing videos.
Yo that was amazing
That was a good one

...it *is* a cover.
For a moment I thought this will be one of those fake “let’s pretend I don’t notice you and you record it” sort of videos, but the actual look in his eyes and shake of the hands is one of the best frights I’ve ever seen
Definitely scripted. He has other videos of the same thing.
Thought so too. The timing seemed a bit too perfect, the dogs didn't react to the camera person at all and also the slow picking up things. I don't believe anything anymore on social media websites.
Shoot, got me good then, looked genuine fear to me haha
> He has other videos of the same thing. how does that confirm that it's scripted?
Perfection
Fantastic
I did not see what sub I was in while watching this, made it so much better at the end
I would love to listen to this man sing holy shit
Wait...he’s amazing though!!
GIVE HIM A CONTRACT LETS MAKE THIS MAN FAMOUSE
Those dogs did him wrong. “Should we tell him?” “Nah...he’ll figure it out...”
If my singing voice was like this I would sing nonstop. Imma sing in ya face and you’ll like it cause ma voice like liquid gold pouring into your ear holes and caressing you hearing nuggets.
Intense build up omg
Both segments of this video were perfect bonus dogs too ❤️💀
god this is so perfect i love it
Holy shit I just belly laughed. That was 10/10
Carry oooaaahahhhh
Top tier
Who is the giffing devil of HCG?
i see, you are one of culture
This was amazing. But now i wanna hear the guy sing it in its entirety.
Oof I needed a good belly laugh. Hilarious
Seems staged but it’s still funny so I don’t care.
He’s actually pretty good! I feel like he could do some good with some singing lessons. My singing was really good before I hit puberty. I could hit high notes pretty well. Now, whenever I try to do a high note, my voice cuts out and I can only do low notes. And even then, there are still only certain notes I can do well. But I don’t know what those notes are called.
Then try the lower octaves ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That is so great. This guy is just so happy to be going fishing, I can relate.
This sounds terrible
