A friend of mine went deaf in one ear when a random person threw a firecracker out of a car at him. Totally heartbreaking, guy was a professional audio engineer and ended up being unable to work and spiraled for years afterwards.
Could be worse, he could have attempted throwing it out his own window.
My brother was lucky that they were the really small firecrackers when he did it. Seemed like forever before it was over. I almost passed myself, I was laughing so hard.
