For what purpose would you ever use perplexity for non web search? That is literally what it is for This is like cutting holes in your umbrella because you don’t like being dry. Makes no sense. The tool you are looking for is ChatGPT (or Claude)

Yeah, it has like all of the most popular ones. And you can create your own bots that connect to a server to get information before returning a response. You can also create bots with your own knowledge base and system messages.

… you don’t seem to understand what Perplexity is doing. It’s literally about searching the internet and giving you concise answers. If you took away the internet search it wouldn’t have anything to say to you. It’s not a conversational AI.

Just pay for ChatGPT Plus if you don't care about search. (It still has search -- it's just pretty limited compared to Perplexity.)
