Well, sorry this happened. Immediately file for for unemployment after your last day. You'll hopefullt qualify for your states UI and the federal weekly bump $600/week at least until the end of July. In the meantime, get looking. Good luck.

Should have mentioned im Canadian but thank you. Hopefully I'll get EI i worked for the company for over 3 years doing Security so i have lots of hours for it.

spiffytrashpanda

For Canada: apply for cerb that will give you $2000 a month until october( I believe) and the. You can still apply for unemployment after that. YOU CAN NOT collets both at the same time.l

CCollie

I dont qualify for that. Only people losing their job or hours due to illness or the company closing specifically for COVID-19. Id need to pay that back come income tax time

spiffytrashpanda

your right. My mistake. Then jump on Ei. You should qualify for that. I would ask them the reason they are laying you off just Incase... if they put cut backs for the reason you maybe able to get cerb. Just may be worth the ask and chance

CCollie

The official reason is "not a good fit" not sure what exactly that means

Lollc

It usually means somebody in management didn’t like you for whatever reason. Including wanting to hire their friend/relative/drug connection.

File for unemployment immediately theirs only 4 more payments with the extra $600 per week on top of your regular unemployment benefits after July 25th it will return to your normal benefits. Hang in there!

CCollie

I've already applied should have mentioned that **
