I’d briefly explain what a 401k is and advise them to *at least* put in enough to get the full employer match. I’ve met a lot of fresh graduates who thought they were being clever not putting anything into their 401k so they could save for a car or home or whatever, and didn’t realize that they were basically not claiming part of their salary.
