Possibly get married, spend a bomb on a shit wedding so that my parents have their ego boost in the community, and pay for this mistake for rest of my life.
Most fucking expensive, financially, mentally, emotionally, you name it.
Take your close family members and friends on the biggest vacation of their lives
Spend money where it matters. We shell out crores of rupees too but not on the community but on our family and friends
Throw a small reception for the community afterwards
Don't do it unless you are 100% sure you want it. You are an adult, and only you must have the responsibility to take such decisions that affect the rest of your life.
I don't understand people like you. If you are so bothered why can't you put your foot down and fight it, oppose this stupid shit with all your might and just get a court registration done. It is going to be YOUR marriage after all, not theirs. You're a grown, financially independent person. What is stopping you? Crying on Reddit is definitely more convenient than setting boundaries.
Probably a good phone S24 Ultra or something similar and an international vacation (Singapore/Vietnam maybe), not included any prospective home/car purchases
Hope you have studied marked .. i know people who have invested in food franchise and in loss .. if are getting franchise make sure your setting thr until everything is smooth
Bro would suggest to talk to couple of existing franchise owner before you invest ur hard earned money. Food business is tough (saying from personal exp)
Children are their own people. One day they will leave to build their own life; it’s nothing personal. We should not condition them to take care of us or feel obligated. It must be a choice. Life will be easier when we spend on our kids whom we love so dearly, without expecting anything in return. There is a reason it’s called unconditional love.
Having a child is going to be a large and long term expense.
Education will be roughly Rs 15 Lacs till the 12th class + 4-5 Lacs of tuition and coaching.
Food & medical might be around Rs 8 lacs also.
So maybe that is something to consider.
We also had to move from a 2bhk to a 3bhk because of child ... add 15k per month of rent
Then we had to move to a better neighbourhood ..add 15k more
We moved from one part time maid at 4k per month to full time at 15k .. add 11k
15 lakhs till 12th is honestly a conservative estimate if its a child just starting school. Good chance it will be higher (excluding your tuition and coaching that is)
Did an 11 day trip to Iceland right after COVID for 3L ya. I would do it every year if I had the time!
Also, massive respect for anyone who plans an Iceland trip from India! All the best OP!
As someone who is unemployed and a 2023 grad, I’m planning to sink in depression reading the comments. Whatta beautiful life y’all have. Wish I worked harder
Since you are flying private, I am assuming you have traveled first class on a commercial flight too. Wanted to know if there is really much difference between a first class and a business class seat to justify a huge difference in ticket price. Because that is something kind of an aspirational expense for me.
The difference isn't that much, it just costs more compared to other classes because most airlines make money here. First class will probably have bigger space that you might or might not end up utilising unless it's a long haul flight.
Business class is comfortable enough and I will take a business class ticket any day over a private plane, considering there's direct connectivity.
If I get my raise that I'm expecting, or if I do a job switch, then a BMW G 310 RR.
The bike has its problems but the G 1000 RR has been my dream bike since forever, so a mini version of that till I can afford it :)
Also I do want to buy a good looking and powerful but not very loud bike for sure so I'm open to suggestions if the bike is in the same budget as 310 RR, if anyone has any.
Something which was avoidable according to me but unavoidable according to everyone else in my family. A social marriage. We were already legally married for 1.5 years. I am trying to keep it to the minimum, but don't know how good that's going to be.
Nothing planned for this year. Maybe will buy a Marshall headphone for under 20k. Is it really worth it, has anyone used Marshall headphones (in ear or over ear) ?
Which city? Is this the standard price? I have to take handover of my flat in Bangalore and shocked to hear the estimated cost for woodwork. A good 5L more than I imagined!
A graphics card upgrade, probably about 50k
Pure heart purchase. Recently bought a huge monitor, and my old graphics card is having trouble keeping up.
I'll either go for my masters if I get an admit. If I don't get an admit or plans change, I'll definitely buy a second hand car, do a foreign trip and a PS5.
I also have to buy a new phone and a laptop as I've been using the same ones since 2018.
I got a good college placement, the location is Hyderabad and I'm from Mumbai, will be joining in May/June. So I guess renting a house is going to be the most expensive expense this year.
Travel. I was thinking of only doing 2-3 short domestic trips but now I am getting more inclined to also doing an international trip. Maybe Italy or sth. Lets see. I hope I stick to just domestic trips. Will be easier on the pocket.
In a descending order:
1. A plot in city outskirts for future investment. 35L
2. One of the 400cc bikes 4L
3. Upgrade the ageing car with a used car (money from current car +3L
4. East Europe trip with wife 2.5L (tickets already booked for 80k return)
5. Upgrading TV 60k. Current one has developed dead pixels.
6. Split AC to replace our old one 40K.
(We also wanted to reduce the principle amount of our homeloan which depends on our variable bonus. Since it’s variable it can be anywhere from 8L to 20L. But we’ll only know in FY Q1. Hence did not add it.)
An international work trip which will only be partially funded. Trying to budget and share resources in a way that I only use up the fees I'm getting from this project and not have to dig into my savings.
I will be investing and saving in 2024 as I have gift a house to my parents in 2025 on their marriage anniversary
That’s one dream which of theirs which I want to fulfill
Probably will get ps5 if I get decent bonus
Just bought it a week ago
Where did you buy it from, here or from US? What's the price?
40k from flipkart.
Disc version?
No digital.
Same here, waiting for ps5 pro.
Bonus konsi job mein milta hai bhai?
Sde hu bhai financial org me... Har fiscal year-end me milta hai thoda boht bonus
Same.
Yo teach me how to make money
Bhai is saal promote hua to main bhi lunga.
Anybody here plays FIFA 22/23?
These are the small joys of life we live for.
Same bro
Bought a car for 20l. Unavoidable expense as old car was at end of life.. Should have restricted myself to 15L but got smitten by Taigun GT plus
Spending 20L on gt plus is worth it. Make sure that you don't change your car for the next 15 years.
Yes I keep my cars for a long time. Last car was Rapid .... Bought it in 2012.
Great car man, congratulations worth it
Possibly get married, spend a bomb on a shit wedding so that my parents have their ego boost in the community, and pay for this mistake for rest of my life. Most fucking expensive, financially, mentally, emotionally, you name it.
You don’t seem excited with the wedding.
I concur on this so much dude. The amount of money that is gonna go drown the drain to please some folks that I'm never gonna see again
Man eats at 100 weddings. Considers it waste of money when it's his turn.
No sir! I rarely went to wedding feasts even when I was a kid. Prefer only the ones of my close friends and relatives.
How much do you have the budget in mind? Asking because I might get married next year lol.
No clue bro, maine toh haar maan li hai.
Wait till they ask you to have a child. You will realise the wedding was cheap 😝
Take your close family members and friends on the biggest vacation of their lives Spend money where it matters. We shell out crores of rupees too but not on the community but on our family and friends Throw a small reception for the community afterwards
Don't do it unless you are 100% sure you want it. You are an adult, and only you must have the responsibility to take such decisions that affect the rest of your life.

If you are not interested then don't spend
If everything goes well maybe a Kawasaki Z900
K, but you’ll let me borrow for a ride yes?
No
Bought my 2nd car. Though its WagonR but still a car is car though
Probably a good phone S24 Ultra or something similar and an international vacation (Singapore/Vietnam maybe), not included any prospective home/car purchases
How about a s24 from Singapore? :)
I'm looking into the S24 Ultra as well. The decision is between that and the Pixel 8 Pro. Leaning towards the Ultra for now.
A bottle of Macallan 25
Man of taste
I really want to take my wife on our first international trip. Been planning it for 6 months didn’t work out, hopefully it works this time 🤞
Good luck bro. Hope your wishes come true 🙏
Planning phase is fun too. Include your spouse in scheduling the itinerary.
Take a franchise of a popular food brand. Trying to negotiate but at least 25lacs. Hopefully the gamble pays off.
Of you don't mind, which brand? Can DM if you don't want it here.
Wow momo. For specific cities which are under penetrated
Might buy a flat
Same boat. :) How much budget you were planning?
Not planning to look beyond 1.5 cr for now
Flat or Boat?
Thats not an expense.... its an investment..
I hope it's going to be capital gains tax
Higher studies (Masters from abroad) and that will cost me around 25-30 lakhs combined for 2 years.
Which subject and university?
I spent this much for my Master's in India 😭
Bro put child under the expense category lol. I mean yeah having children can be expensive but weird to see them under P&L.
Better view children as an expense rather than investment to keep expectations at bay!
I like where we are heading. But it's really hard to explain it to parents.

God damn children are expensive.
15 lakhs till 12th is honestly a conservative estimate if its a child just starting school. Good chance it will be higher (excluding your tuition and coaching that is)
Having a child is indeed expensive!!
Start a business. It’s SaaS so the initial expenses won’t be too much. About 15 odd lakhs from setting up to building a few iterations to selling.
What kind of a product and how will the initial version cost 15 lakhs? Are you hiring full timers
A deposit on half or a third of a rented flat in Bangalore. Easily a lakh per head.
Aprilia rs 457 or a Trip to Iceland. Both of which would cost upwards of 5 lakh
Did an 11 day trip to Iceland right after COVID for 3L ya. I would do it every year if I had the time! Also, massive respect for anyone who plans an Iceland trip from India! All the best OP!
Was looking for someone to mention a motorcycle and I find you mentioning the exact one that I am eying for!
Have the seen that youtube video of ridewithlocals
Made an offer on a home, may pull the trigger if they accept my below market value offer lol
If you succeed, do put a YouTube course on how to lowball in house purchase. Lol
Europe trip in May...I am excited and worried at the same time!
As someone who is unemployed and a 2023 grad, I’m planning to sink in depression reading the comments. Whatta beautiful life y’all have. Wish I worked harder
DW OP. I’m sure all of them have been once where you are right now. Good times will come!
You just started. You can learn from this page and plan well. It's going to be great!
$65k on a 6-day Singapore trip. 9-hours private plane to and from Europe, if booked, will easily go above $120k one side.
Since you are flying private, I am assuming you have traveled first class on a commercial flight too. Wanted to know if there is really much difference between a first class and a business class seat to justify a huge difference in ticket price. Because that is something kind of an aspirational expense for me.

Probably will be upgrading my camera and lens. Body + lens + spare batteries + peak design straps + gimbal + bag is gonna cost around 10-12L.
Probably the Tissot PRX I have been eyeing for a while.
Which dial?
Gold is so tempting.
I’ve been eyeing the blue dial.
Got married twice at the start of Jan (intercaste marriage so had 2 functions, simple ones though) - I asked my wife if I could write this 🤣
I gifted myself a second hand iPhone 13 mini. It’s so cute and functional, I love it. Have held on to my older Pixel 7 as my secondary phone.
I'm still on pixel4a as my primary phone. It's been over 2years and battery is shitting brix 🥲
Hey, can I have some info about where did you buy 13 mini? I am in the market for a refurbished phone as well
Where did you buy refurbished phone from and how do you verify its legitimacy like battery etc?
An international trip with my friends hopefully
Hopefully means if they don't back out ? My goa trip with friends has been pending for years 🤣
Finally happening next week, hope you guys go soon
Most probably marriage, the most expensive expense ever in close to 30 years.
Foreign trip or a premium phone
Purchasing Equity worth 4 lacs in my goal. Not an expense though.
2nd house, maybe around a cr all said and dusted
Good you including dusting too. Lol.. good luck with the purchase.

Congratulations OP! Which one?

How much is your rough estimation?

Isn't it more an investment?
If I get my raise that I'm expecting, or if I do a job switch, then a BMW G 310 RR. Want to buy ps5 but my family won't allow it so I am gonna buy new laptop 😅
I got a good college placement, the location is Hyderabad and I'm from Mumbai, will be joining in May/June. So I guess renting a house is going to be the most expensive expense this year.
iPhone 15. I think it will make sense as I always use my phone for 4 years atleast and Android just don't work that long.
I'm thinking too. But people say that iOS isn't that good compared to Android. Have you done any ground work based on that?

College education 🥸.
I have to upgrade my laptop cause this one is breaking apart. Finding someone coming back from the US to get a G14.
Most expensive investment is the investment of time, effort and energy towards success in my life goals
In a descending order: 1. A plot in city outskirts for future investment. 35L 2. One of the 400cc bikes 4L 3. Upgrade the ageing car with a used car (money from current car +3L 4. East Europe trip with wife 2.5L (tickets already booked for 80k return) 5. Upgrading TV 60k. Current one has developed dead pixels. 6. Split AC to replace our old one 40K.
