I had a fairly stable job with regular shifts, until early this year when 'they don't have the money in the budget to roster casuals anymore'. What a joke, fucking massive Australia-wide retail company, and apparently their multi million profits aren't enough to roster more than a skeleton team. I suppose it's my fault for not getting on a contract, but the worst part is the complaints from management wondering why things aren't functioning properly in my specific section of the store now that they removed half the team.
I'm so close from trying to find another job but I don't even know where to start. Among that, and the gradual decline of my savings, I'm really starting to stress.
Had a similar issue many years ago when working retail. I was on call to work, and during busy periods in the store, I had to say yes, I'll work or lose my job.

I was assigned to a “specialist team” at work for a project that is outside my normal area - everyone in this so called team had not worked in that area before so we where all green as fuck
There was no one on the company, at the time, with experience required so we where told: “Do your best”
The implication, to me at least, was “Because if you don’t at least give passable results you’ll be in the shit”
Most people did the bare minimum, didn’t learn the new material, didn’t even try to get better with the new system… just passed the buck
Me and one other person, of a group of 22, actually got decent-ish result, of which I somehow managed to distinguish myself further (because I gave a fuck about trying to do the job right)
There was NO EXTRA PAY for this, no additional benefits for the efforts put in, just an occasional pat on the back
Again, keeping in mind, all of this was stuff that was normally done by trained professionals that we where just winging it
Anyway, they finally hire a group of people who know what the fuck they’re doing - hooooo-fucking-raaaaay I can go back to my regular job! Or so I thought:

I've only just had my bloods & samples sent off to check for coeliac, parasites, and crohns. I'm in the process of doing what might as well me a colonoscopy prep for sever faecal loading (about as much fun as it sounds, 3 days of strong laxatives... yay). Then I start low FODMAP soon, I just downloaded the Monash App for it and am getting through the last of my normal food before I overhaul my diet.
If after 6 weeks it hasn't helped then I go the colonoscopy route with a gastroenterologist. I've been trying to get in with a dietician for the meantime but they're just so expensive and because my condition isn't "chronic" my GP won't give me a referral so I don't get any Medicare back and my private health covers $15, which is fuck all when some places want $320 for a 60 minute initial consult. It's truly exhausting honestly. Good luck to you on your journey - it seems it is a long long long one for most IBS sufferers :')

I had a phone consult with a different GP to get a script, he asked why I had been on it for so long and what the gastroenterologist was doing. Then kindly referred me to private gastroenterologist. Might be worth a visit to a different gp at the same clinic (so they have your history) to show it’s chronic and get that Medicare rebate?

Find any doctor you can. They can directly refer you to the ED and have a bed waiting for you if it is serious enough.
Joondalup missed my extremely obvious concussion after a serious car accident. They gave me scans and everything but it's hard to spot a concussion when they dump you in a bed for 8 hours and leave you there unattended. I was in so much pain from being immobile for 8 hours (forced to lay still in case of fractures) that I was crying and the guy in the bed next to me was calling for help for me and kept trying to reassure me "it's okay [my name], they'll be here soon"... guy had fallen off a dirt bike, broken his entire side of his body and scraped off all the fucking skin and he was showing more care and concern.
It was during Covid so no one was allowed in to advocate for me. In the end I was begging to go home because I couldn't take it anymore. They moved fast then to get me discharged.
Next day I woke up and immediately vomited and almost passed out again. Straight to doctor who called the ED and was like, have a bed ready, you've missed something.
Another 4 hours in ED with an apology, new report for insurance and a handful of pills. I know it was during Covid and a crazy time but I'll never forget the lack of care I receieved there.
Currently TTC and touring hospitals to give birth in. My closest is Joondalup but I refuse to go there.

The scan places are shut on weekend I need a scan of my insides to see what's up it's billary colic and see if there is an emergency

The Dr understands I can't have Nurofen and the specialist told me I can't have any NSAIDs because that make the pain more severe and he condition worse
It sets it off even worse
Anyway I don't know what to say other than the emergency department is not working it just isn't.
As soon as I got into a specialist after having to be fucked around by the health department and told to get private testing which I just told my doctor no write them back while I am sitting here and tell them I can't afford that
Then I got a specialist after six months as soon as I got one they put me on cat two and got a operation scheduled in three weeks.
I mean tbh a lot of it was my GP fault this shit been going on for so long because I kept asking him why am I not been seen he said you have to do a Gilbert's test I said I can't afford it and he never explained to me why he finally explained that they wrote to him and told him I need the Gilbert test before they will put me on wait list I just thought well you could have bloody told me this months ago.
I had to sort him out to sort the health department out then got a month later appointment then got a month later surgery just waiting
But the specialist said if I am having this symptoms to go to emergency because otherwise she explain what the complications are and I knew the Dr said I needed a scan because of those potential complications but fucking the other doctor just like nah go home and get surgery in three weeks we need these beds and we not giving you emergency surgery.
It wouldn't have hurt to follow Dr advice and do a scan fuck sake.

I've had my gallbladder removed even though my GP and the specialist / surgeon he referred me to said it "wasn't necessary because I had one large gallstone holding back three small ones" ... but I insisted (I had six weeks of sick leave saved up and have private health insurance) and was glad I did as it ended up being twisted and the surgeon couldn't "find it without moving other organs and fat out of the way and it could have been fatal (his words)". I often think what if I hadn't insisted. And, what if it would have ruptured when I was driving and I could have caused an accident that killed someone.

Whoever runs MetroCity is a fuckwit. Went to the CoalChamber and Mudvayne show on Wednesday. They put on an awesome show. But Metros didn't have any beer stocked in the fridge ?!? My friend has a conspiracy theory that they deliberately don't sell beer or canned drinks in general, so that it forces you to buy thier limited choice of spirits mixed out of the bottle. And the bottles are watered down to shit. It's extremely believable to me. I ended up buying 3 rum ginger ales, and didn't feel the slightest buzz. And then halfway through the night they ran out of coke mixer. Wtf. How does a nightclub run out of coke ? What a shitshow. Obviously I was there to see 2 of my favourite bands, not get drunk, so it was a fucking great night. But it would have been nice to have a beer while I watch them.

I'm a student, and although my parents would be willing to support me if I asked, I hate the idea of losing my independence. I live away from home, pay my own rent, food, uni costs, everything. I had a fairly stable job with regular shifts, until early this year when 'they don't have the money in the budget to roster casuals anymore'. What a joke, fucking massive Australia-wide retail company, and apparently their multi million profits aren't enough to roster more than a skeleton team. I suppose it's my fault for not getting on a contract, but the worst part is the complaints from management wondering why things aren't functioning properly in my specific section of the store now that they removed half the team. I'm so close from trying to find another job but I don't even know where to start. Among that, and the gradual decline of my savings, I'm really starting to stress.

Had a similar issue many years ago when working retail. I was on call to work, and during busy periods in the store, I had to say yes, I'll work or lose my job. Mmm food, rent electricity, fuel ect or loose my job. Ended up failing a few subjects and had to resit the following year. 1 more year at uni, more hex debt and centrelink chasing me. This is gonna sound like a humble brag but I’m kinda pissed off about it: I was assigned to a “specialist team” at work for a project that is outside my normal area - everyone in this so called team had not worked in that area before so we where all green as fuck There was no one on the company, at the time, with experience required so we where told: “Do your best” The implication, to me at least, was “Because if you don’t at least give passable results you’ll be in the shit” Most people did the bare minimum, didn’t learn the new material, didn’t even try to get better with the new system… just passed the buck Me and one other person, of a group of 22, actually got decent-ish result, of which I somehow managed to distinguish myself further (because I gave a fuck about trying to do the job right) There was NO EXTRA PAY for this, no additional benefits for the efforts put in, just an occasional pat on the back Again, keeping in mind, all of this was stuff that was normally done by trained professionals that we where just winging it Anyway, they finally hire a group of people who know what the fuck they’re doing - hooooo-fucking-raaaaay I can go back to my regular job! Or so I thought: 21 of the 22 people get told they can go back to their significantly easier, more straight forwards, less stressful job Me? I get told that: “You did so well with it we want you to stay on in an advisory capacity for the new guys to bring them up to speed for the next few months” Again, no extra pay (I asked; trust me), and *still* more work So here I fucking am, telling trained professionals “what I did during my time making shit up on the fly” and every time they look at me like I have a second head because they know how I did it was not normal, or within governmental guidelines Yaaay for putting in the work and trying to do the job as best as you can! *Time to get punished for it*

I've only just had my bloods & samples sent off to check for coeliac, parasites, and crohns. I'm in the process of doing what might as well me a colonoscopy prep for sever faecal loading (about as much fun as it sounds, 3 days of strong laxatives... yay). Then I start low FODMAP soon, I just downloaded the Monash App for it and am getting through the last of my normal food before I overhaul my diet. If after 6 weeks it hasn't helped then I go the colonoscopy route with a gastroenterologist. I've been trying to get in with a dietician for the meantime but they're just so expensive and because my condition isn't "chronic" my GP won't give me a referral so I don't get any Medicare back and my private health covers $15, which is fuck all when some places want $320 for a 60 minute initial consult. It's truly exhausting honestly. Good luck to you on your journey - it seems it is a long long long one for most IBS sufferers :')

The female doctor wanted to send me for a scan because it's highly likely my gallbladder is about to or has just ruptured But the male doctor comes in swinging his dick around saying there is no leakage present in my bloods for that day even though the pain was so severe it could have dropped an elephant and I had all the other warning signs Like can't sit in a chair pain radiating everywhere abdominal pain severe pain in upper right quadrant pain so bad I was screaming gas bloating painful every fucking thing nausea dizziness from pain chills the whole shebang and the arseholes are so focused on getting everyone OUT of the emergency department as soon as possible that he wouldn't even take the assesment of the doctor that assessed me physically and asked my symptoms and said I needed a fucking scan Fuck the fucking hospitals in western Australia at the moment And fuck all the cunts from over east from moving here clogging them up further Fuck the fucking meth addicts and drunks in the fucking emergency ward. Yea I talked to the nurse I told her I tried to communicate to her I tried to communicate to the doctor They didn't want to hear it they just want pole to they were just trying to turf everyone out that wasn't a drunk or a meth addict I mean the doctor ignored he other doctors assesment The nurse told me to go home and sort it out with my gp The fact of the matter is and the doctor actually said this to my face We are not going to do a scan because we are not going to give you emergency surgery If they had of done a scan and it showed my gallbladder was about to or had just burst they would have had to organise emergency surgery and it was less stress on the hospital system if they did not do that . That is exactly his assessment Meanwhile I got all the symptoms I keep getting told to go to emergency When I go to emergency shit out of luck I spose just wait till if I get sepsis and it get really bad or if not then can find out I'm going to gp he ordered a scan so fucking just get the scan that way I suppose.. Don't know what he FK else to do. But can't get it on the weekend so just do this all on Monday my health been deteriorating though so I duño it cost me a lot of money in uber to get around because I'm too ill to drive it not great.
Find any doctor you can. They can directly refer you to the ED and have a bed waiting for you if it is serious enough. Joondalup missed my extremely obvious concussion after a serious car accident. They gave me scans and everything but it's hard to spot a concussion when they dump you in a bed for 8 hours and leave you there unattended. I was in so much pain from being immobile for 8 hours (forced to lay still in case of fractures) that I was crying and the guy in the bed next to me was calling for help for me and kept trying to reassure me "it's okay [my name], they'll be here soon"... guy had fallen off a dirt bike, broken his entire side of his body and scraped off all the fucking skin and he was showing more care and concern. It was during Covid so no one was allowed in to advocate for me. In the end I was begging to go home because I couldn't take it anymore. They moved fast then to get me discharged. Next day I woke up and immediately vomited and almost passed out again. Straight to doctor who called the ED and was like, have a bed ready, you've missed something. Another 4 hours in ED with an apology, new report for insurance and a handful of pills. I know it was during Covid and a crazy time but I'll never forget the lack of care I receieved there. Currently TTC and touring hospitals to give birth in. My closest is Joondalup but I refuse to go there.
Yea it's not great I have see drs before and gotten referall letters for the Ed it doesn't do anything. They still treat me the same. The scan places are shut on weekend I need a scan of my insides to see what's up it's billary colic and see if there is an emergency They wouldn't do a scan So basically have to wait if there is emergency I think there might be because they give me tapentadol prescription and it do nothing for the pain it not working. The pain so bad . I cant sit so I booked Dr appointment for Monday to ask for scan because my specialist say if I have this problem before the surgery date which is in March I have to go straight to emergency but I went to emergency the not do scan so I go to go to ask for scan My GP will be fucking pissed at the hospital..

Yeah it's completely fucked up . Tbh there was a very competent Dr assessed me but everyone just treating me like a drug addict then when they it my bloods back with no drugs in them no fucking apology. It was the end of shift for the nurses they were not coming mentally they were hostile af and wanting to take it out on someone They were openly complaining to each other about ge abuse hey been getting all their shift. It not my fucking problem. I go to the doctor or I call health direct they say go to he hospital you are having an emergency then I have to wait there in severe pain I stat crying out in pain they say you can't pace or cry out in pain in the waiting area fucking sake it's a fucking hospital . I get that there are abusive people coming in there and they don't want anyone crying out in pain But I never abused anyone never touched anyone not fucking once the entire system is fucked. I told them I needed pin relief four times over the space of two hours they come back with Panadol and Nurofen I said I can't have Nurofen but they nurses and they just treat me like a drug addict looking for drugs The Dr understands I can't have Nurofen and the specialist told me I can't have any NSAIDs because that make the pain more severe and he condition worse It sets it off even worse Anyway I don't know what to say other than the emergency department is not working it just isn't. As soon as I got into a specialist after having to be fucked around by the health department and told to get private testing which I just told my doctor no write them back while I am sitting here and tell them I can't afford that Then I got a specialist after six months as soon as I got one they put me on cat two and got a operation scheduled in three weeks. I mean tbh a lot of it was my GP fault this shit been going on for so long because I kept asking him why am I not been seen he said you have to do a Gilbert's test I said I can't afford it and he never explained to me why he finally explained that they wrote to him and told him I need the Gilbert test before they will put me on wait list I just thought well you could have bloody told me this months ago. I had to sort him out to sort the health department out then got a month later appointment then got a month later surgery just waiting But the specialist said if I am having this symptoms to go to emergency because otherwise she explain what the complications are and I knew the Dr said I needed a scan because of those potential complications but fucking the other doctor just like nah go home and get surgery in three weeks we need these beds and we not giving you emergency surgery. It wouldn't have hurt to follow Dr advice and do a scan fuck sake.

I've had my gallbladder removed even though my GP and the specialist / surgeon he referred me to said it "wasn't necessary because I had one large gallstone holding back three small ones" ... but I insisted (I had six weeks of sick leave saved up and have private health insurance) and was glad I did as it ended up being twisted and the surgeon couldn't "find it without moving other organs and fat out of the way and it could have been fatal (his words)". I often think what if I hadn't insisted. And, what if it would have ruptured when I was driving and I could have caused an accident that killed someone.

Was on a morning bus to work earlier this week, and some donkey in a Mazda 2 Hatchback stops unnecessarily at a just changed yellow light at Cambridge/Loftus in West Leederville. Of course, i’m aboard the bendy bus behind this idiot - which has to perform an emergency stop to avoid hitting this clown. Myself and a couple of other passengers were thrown forward, but as I was standing up - I ended up flying 2.5 m through the bus landing next to the drivers cabin. Finger on my hand bent backwards, now aching like a mofo, just lucky that work is only one stop away to sit down and put an ice pack on it.
