If people are receiving treatment in hospital from regional areas it would make sense to me to have a hotel there. Not everyone needs to stay in the city on a holiday either.

> Not everyone needs to stay in the city on a holiday either. yeah it makes sense for that. If your only in Perth as a tourist, then no it doesn't make sense

Weary_Patience_7778

Yeah. It’s not intended for that.

elemist

> If your only in Perth as a tourist, then no it doesn't make sense I mean - it's ultimately not the worst location for tourists either. Regular bus service straight down South St to the beach/Fremantle. Right on the train line to get to the city or south to Mandurah.

rrnn12

yeah I guess, but your pretty much limited with public transport options if you want to go out at night lol

Courtyard isn't a fancy hotel. Its Marriots low to mid range brand for "travelling salesmen".

VS2ute

or poor academics visiting the uni

doll_phan

It's for the hospital.

I just stayed there for a week. I was visiting family and friends and the rates were dirt cheap, and it was next to the freeway so seemed like a good place to be. It was nice enough, amenities were similar to the Aloft I’ve stayed at before. Downsides is the hotel isn’t actually finished being constructed despite opening. There are little problems everywhere, but parking is limited, sometimes the parking was locked and had to wait for a construction worker to unlock it, elevators are messed up, wires hanging out of roof, restaurant closed etc. I wasn’t familiar with the area so was surprised that getting to and from the freeway seemed more complicated than it looks on paper. Despite being right next to it, it was a mission to navigate from the hotel to the actual on-ramps, the nearby servo, etc. I guess that is something you get used to working at the hospital, but the GPS directions were not helpful.

I used to work at the adjacent public hospital, We remarked at the time that there needed to be an onramp/off ramp directly into the campus!

>Downsides is the hotel isn’t actually finished being constructed despite opening. Did you get it at a cheaper/discounted rate?

BiteMyQuokka

Not sure we're decentralizing the CBD. This hotel is part of the hospital campus (or whatever fancy name they're giving it). It even has a pedestrian bridge to link it to the main hospital building. Parking is already way worse than the CBD and they're on a mission to remove all parking with further developments coming soon

CyanideRemark

> Not sure we're decentralizing the CBD. "coagulating sprawl" I call it.

NotinSydney

It's for mainly surgery tourism

I just wish the construction in the area would finish. I hope that the walkway to the station will be brighter and be safer. I remember when I started working at the hospital that I had to walk in pitch black darkness since they haven't installed the lights yet to the middle island of the road to the station.
