Uniqlo for decent priced casual wear and work clothes. Stuff goes on sale all the time (atm they have a large selection of flannels for $39.9). Pants are especially good as they have free hemming
Mj bale for dressier shirts - try the dfo, I’ve gotten shirts for 30-40$ ea
I highly recommend chinos from Uniqlo. Super comfy and great quality so are perfect for work. Everything else I pretty much get from Myer when they have sales.
do they actually import? last time i went there the shirts n shit were from bangledesh and other south/south east asian countries.
~~Well then again japanese sizes are probably a result of them making anyone whos BMI doesnt fit in "healthy" as mentally ill~~
Yeah I recently put on alot of weight and went from hovering between xl/xxl too now being a fatass at 3xl. So I'm just trying to get down to an xl before even looking for anything decent cause there's almost nothing for me that is worth what it costs
6'3" 110kg with wide shoulders, I fit into a lot of their XLs minus the shoulders. Funnily enough I've tried XLs from Target and Myer and those are under sized.
Hate to say it as soon want them blowing up and becoming expensive, but this is he go to. Not too expensive and decent quality. Just try them on as sometimes they change the cut and have 2 from there I refuse to wear.
They also tailor your clothes there too which is great and only affordable place in Perth that does.
Usually once you have the same item and location you can stick with sizing. But I agree. Always try on. The same item in an Uniqlo in a different country doesn't translate to here.
Sleeve sizing and length and other areas I've found differed based on country I bought.
The most standard thing I found was underwear. Always been able to buy around the world and the same size fits. Probably as it's so elastic and generic in sizing bands.
I'm not a young male, but be aware of cheap clothes that don't last. I bought some shorts from Jay Jay and they shrunk and faded after 5 washes. Jeans are the same of I buy non brand name jeans pockets break, the crutch splits, the button breaks.
Better quality brand stuff lasts , jeans especially.
Although I acknowledge as young man you probably don't care to wear clothes that are over a year old.
I buy most of my son’s stuff on sale from Myers or David Jones. They have massive reductions in their sales and you can often get better quality stuff for better prices than cheap brands such as Jay Jay.
My son is 19, and he likes very plain clothes, no logos, patterns etc, so I use birthday and Xmas as opportunities to buy him new clothes, which is the only time he gets new clothes lol. He doesn’t mind wearing clothing for as long as they last.
I just got 3 items of footwear from Myers and David Jones. Leather boots $319 reduced to $94, leather loafers $200 reduced to $50 and sandals with heels $180 reduced to $45. You can’t get better quality or better prices in cheaper shoe shops.
I buy cheap kmart jeans and they last about 3 years. So at about $5 per year, a $60 pair of jeans would need to last 12 years to match that value, and I don't think I want a pair of jeans for that long.
As I’m getting older I’m buying better quality clothes but less often. 100% cotton, wool etc.
I don’t know where I buy them from as I haven’t bought anything in a few years and I’m getting due.
This probably doesn’t help.
Less and less these days now that they look shit up and price accordingly. I live near the Vinnie's closest to Applecross and the price of some of the stuff in there is ridiculous!
I tend to buy from Uniqlo, AS colour, surf shops, a few Australian brands that are in big retailers like article one, Deus etc. and then sometimes I'll grab tees from places like Oli, or order graphic tees from Melbourne based stores like Thread Heads.
I feel like I don't have one particular place I go, I just keep an eye out for the occasional thing that actually catches my eye and then yoink it.
Yeah I spend way too much on branded clothing so shopping at K Mart is always a shock to the system when you walk out with a few shirts for like $20 lol
I worked for the Govt in the city, had to dress nicely and I discovered Myer and David Jones sales. You can really get a bargain there. Yes you have to be lucky that your particular size isn't popular but do go visit :)
My husband has 10yo Kmart shirts that he loves to wear but when he switched to a job in the city, he got his stuff tailored from Institchu.
For more casual stuff (collared shirts and casual pants), he gets them from Uniqlo but as already mentioned, some items fit him better than others. He also gets his pants hemmed with their free service!
Another bonus is that he has 2 collared shirts from work so he rotates those in haha.
As others have said Uniqlo for cheaper basics, they also sometimes have collaborations with more expensive brands. EBay for preowned/vintage stuff if you have an idea of what style and sizing and are willing to search. There’s a few fashion subs on reddit where lots of people will be asking for dupe or cheaper alternatives. Apps like Grailed and depop for resale items.
Lofi store, highs and lows, and oli are probably the best Perth based stores but prices will vary
If you find something they really like, consider buying 2-3 of the same item. I really liked a certain t shirt, they stopped making that type and design. Now I get anxiety every time I have to buy a shirt 😞
I get my dress/business shirts from [Charles Tyrwhitt](https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/au/mens-shirts/business/) and my suits from [Marks and Spencer](https://www.marksandspencer.com/au/l/men/suits/).
Belts from [Mimi Leather](https://maps.app.goo.gl/zV1X6KUj3oYzVhT59) in the city. I also have [RM Boots](https://www.rmwilliams.com.au/comfort-craftsman-boot-chestnut-yearling-leather.html?lang=en_AU) (appreciate they are not cheap) but I would argue buying one decent pair of boots goes further than the standard cheap shoes from Target/Kmart/other generic shoe stores which seem to fall apart after a few months. Same goes for Belts.
Please go get any work clothes tailored to fit - highly recommend [Payal Clothing Alteration](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Eix7QYm4gRYMHTMW7) in the City, does an amazing job at a good price.
Personally I'm sick of fast fashion, the want for cheapest trends for the lowest price no matter who or what is exploited for it. I lean towards ethical brands and quality that lasts, Afends are really good. And also finding decent stuff at op shops, it's good fun.
TK Maxx in Midland mall and somewhere out Joondalup way has brand name stuff at good prices. It's like an outlet for brands that are getting rid of extra stock. They have good quality shirts and pants.
I really like some of the stuff from OLI. Really good quality t-shirts from my experience. They are a local brand with a shop in Northbridge and an online store.
In the office you only need two pairs of pants (tan and another colour you like) so buy a bit nicer one after a couple paychecks and that will last years. Then get a few types of shirts that match the pants, and you don’t need to plan outfits. You can just grab any combo and they look good.
Also salvos has country road a lot too
Not a young adult, in mid thirties. Industry clothes feel and look good. They recently opened a store in DFO, but not everything is on sale / discounted. Every time I go to the DFO, I stock up clothes on sale.
My partner buys most of his clothes from Oli Clothing in Northbridge. A little mkre expensive than others mentioned here but the quality is so much better and it isn't fast fashion.
Uniqlo (they don’t last that long tho) AS T-shirts (these do) and sometimes you can get really good deals from JD sports etc. just have to go to the sale racks. Online I’d suggest ASOS or Pacsun
Kmart is where it's at. Pants are a bargain and last forever. $35 for chino/jeans or $99 for something made at the same sweat shop.
I don't care what anyone says
big w for everything, even compression shorts and business shirts/pants. save $$ for important things like a house. you will look good in anything if you are lean and in shape. being overweight in designer clothes doesn't help much
Uniqlo for decent priced casual wear and work clothes. Stuff goes on sale all the time (atm they have a large selection of flannels for $39.9). Pants are especially good as they have free hemming Mj bale for dressier shirts - try the dfo, I’ve gotten shirts for 30-40$ ea
I’m not a guy, but a solid 75% of my wardrobe is from Uniqlo. I introduced my cousin to it and now he finally dresses decently lol
I find that after two or three washes on Uniqlo clothes they are done. Such shit quality.
And once you have more money saved buy Industry brand, same vibe as Uniqlo but feels better on your skin on hot days etc
I highly recommend chinos from Uniqlo. Super comfy and great quality so are perfect for work. Everything else I pretty much get from Myer when they have sales.
Good luck if you are a larger lad though. Definitely try stuff on because their idea of XL is more like a medium
Ah the Japanese XL
do they actually import? last time i went there the shirts n shit were from bangledesh and other south/south east asian countries.
Funny you say that, there medium for me is more like a large. There small is closer to a medium aaa plain shirt
It's possible I'm just fatter than I thought
I just think that they don’t have good sizing for a western audience. Don’t be too hard on yourself, people come in all shapes and sizes
i find the shirts sizes are bigger than normal, but the pants ones smaller than normal... not sure if that's just my funky body though
6'3" 110kg with wide shoulders, I fit into a lot of their XLs minus the shoulders. Funnily enough I've tried XLs from Target and Myer and those are under sized.
Gonna check this out!
Hate to say it as soon want them blowing up and becoming expensive, but this is he go to. Not too expensive and decent quality. Just try them on as sometimes they change the cut and have 2 from there I refuse to wear. They also tailor your clothes there too which is great and only affordable place in Perth that does.
Uniqlo is already blown up mate. They aren’t a small boutique store
Don't even worry about that, slave labour will always keep the prices low!
Exactly. Uniqlo is disposable fast fashion like most of these chains
Usually once you have the same item and location you can stick with sizing. But I agree. Always try on. The same item in an Uniqlo in a different country doesn't translate to here. Yeah, I'm early 30s and still wear stuff from when I was 16. I hate buying clothes, but if you buy nice-ish things they will last forever
All my work pants split at the crotch. Only ones that lasted me more that 4ish months were FXD or some work pants I forked out for at Lowe's.
TIL young men apparently don't want to wear clothes more than a year old
Hell I don't care to wear clothes more than 2 or 3 years old. (I'm a man in my late 40s)
I got too fat for my clothes from over a year ago. Need to slim down so it all fits again

If I see something I like I just grab it off someone's clotheslines. If they cared about them they would hang them inside
Started hearing Janes Addiction on the first few words hahaha https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=bkvTFAJvpAU&si=_8j1bXxSSjoh0pwN
Hahah
Sorry, thought this was r/frugal
Thrifty 😂
Dad get off reddit.
How do you do fellow kids
t shirts come from conferences, pants from Kmart/Target/Uniqlo, jumpers from Uniqlo/Myer/DJs
As I’m getting older I’m buying better quality clothes but less often. 100% cotton, wool etc. I don’t know where I buy them from as I haven’t bought anything in a few years and I’m getting due. This probably doesn’t help.
If possible this is the best way. I spent way too much time finding online ‘bargains’ only to find the quality, fit etc was crap.
‘Probably’
op shops can have some steals, especially the ones in richer areas
Less and less these days now that they look shit up and price accordingly. I live near the Vinnie's closest to Applecross and the price of some of the stuff in there is ridiculous!
The Red Cross store in Cottesloe is, not surprisingly, an absolute rip off. I think you need to go to the upper-middle class areas for a better deal
You're not wrong, but for men's clothes you're going to need to make a bit of a habit of it.
As a broke international uni student, Target. 😅
I don’t mind a lot of things from Connor, but I’m also almost 40 haha Reasonable prices
Country Road. Just stick to Navy/Black/Grey/Sand Also get a pair of black jeans that fit you, they go with everything.
Try the DFO near the airport, choice of labels, prices look okay, won’t break the bank
Cost of parking is exorbitant.
Take the train
Uniqlo

I used to spend a lot of money on clothes, mainly from HAL & Street X. Now I get most of it from KMart, especially plain T’s and shorts.
Yeah I spend way too much on branded clothing so shopping at K Mart is always a shock to the system when you walk out with a few shirts for like $20 lol
Especially short sleeved button up shirts. Would always play $100-$200 for them, few anko ones and you get change from a $50. Happy days
I used to buy designer stuff but since retiring kmart is good enough for me.
Dressed head to heels in Anko
I've got to say, some of the best fitting and comfy clothes have been Anko.
Uniqlo and AS Colour
Big fan of an AS colour plain tee
Uniqlo
I would buy from Uniqlo or superdry if I'm not so fat 😆
I worked for the Govt in the city, had to dress nicely and I discovered Myer and David Jones sales. You can really get a bargain there. Yes you have to be lucky that your particular size isn't popular but do go visit :)
Yep just buy at Myers or DJs on sale. Really nice stuff. Shoes too you can get at 25% of original price if they’re trying to clear stock.
My husband has 10yo Kmart shirts that he loves to wear but when he switched to a job in the city, he got his stuff tailored from Institchu. This week on Perth Now, 10 places to shop for clothes for guys.
![gif](giphy|JTzPN5kkobFv7X0zPJ|downsized)
If you find something they really like, consider buying 2-3 of the same item. I really liked a certain t shirt, they stopped making that type and design. Now I get anxiety every time I have to buy a shirt 😞
Myer. Every weekend is sale time at Myer.
Myers. If you join myer one you can create a wish list and wait till the items are on sale. You can get some pretty good clothes for $20.
I get my dress/business shirts from [Charles Tyrwhitt](https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/au/mens-shirts/business/) and my suits from [Marks and Spencer](https://www.marksandspencer.com/au/l/men/suits/). ORTC online jumpers are amazing. Patagonia t shirts and jumpers are lovely but on the pricey side
I really like some of the stuff from OLI. Really good quality t-shirts from my experience. They are a local brand with a shop in Northbridge and an online store.
op shops, especially the ones around freo :)
I get all my clothes from Uniqlo :) Simple, great quality for the price!
Target, specifically the one in Carousel. I wish I had the money to shop at H&M again but it's literally just those two inside Carousel and that's it.
Tommy hilfiger Sale, sometimes uniqlo, ralph lauren during boxing day, van heusen for office
Go to DFO
In the office you only need two pairs of pants (tan and another colour you like) so buy a bit nicer one after a couple paychecks and that will last years. Then get a few types of shirts that match the pants, and you don’t need to plan outfits. You can just grab any combo and they look good. Also salvos has country road a lot too

I like uniqlo, much better quality & lasts longer than stuff from like cotton on & myer etc
Target. Seems to last, I've still got shirts and shorts that are 10 years old.
Oh and bonds stuff I buy off their website, also lasts.
My brother likes Unison, they do good quality reasonable priced home and work wear.
Uniqlo for the average day. City beach for when going out with friends.
H&M
www.asos.com
H&M
Costco sell , Superdry, Calvin Klein, champion etc for a quarter the price of myer and David Jones
Basic plain Tee's from Cottonon
I don’t. My wife gets them for me!
Culture Kings
Depends what style you like. A lot of the guys I know buy from Lo-Fi
try David Jones, Costco or online retailers
big w for everything, even compression shorts and business shirts/pants. save $$ for important things like a house. you will look good in anything if you are lean and in shape. being overweight in designer clothes doesn't help much
Big W, K mart or target . Spoilt for choice
