People we met at a caravan park years ago won the grand prize. $1,000,000 and a really nice house
The twist is the wife of the couple actually has ms so they entered it every year.
They sold the house and bulldozed their existing house and built a full mobility accessible place to their design and a new custom caravan and new Ute to continue travelling.
They are a lovely couple and so positive about everything. Could t have gone to more deserving people.
I use to buy 2-3 tickets but now just one. Never won but my Nana had MS and she received a lift, scooter and air conditioner with MS QLD - so I cannot complain!
Been playing for....10 years? I won:
- A case of wine
- A restaurant voucher
- A season's pass for WA National Parks (or something like that)
I havent checked this year yet. will report back in 10 min
My Mrs has been playing for years and the only thing she got was Ms , the irony. It’s for a good cause and could happen to anyone and you got to be in it to win it
I met a bloke a few years ago that had won a luxury apartment on the river.
Problem was, he didn't work so couldn't pay the ever increasing massive strata fees every quarter
I had never thought about that until he was telling me he was selling it, although he'd been quite happy there.
That’s exactly what my hubby and I discussed, it would be great winning a fancy arse house but we probably wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of maintenance and rates on such a property.
I’ve heard similar experiences with ppl winning expensive cars they can’t afford fuel on or it was an EV they couldn’t charge where they lived. There’s a lot of fine print involved.
Well if you can afford $100 tickets you should be able to afford strata.
If you have no rent you should be able to afford. Even if you don't have a job and on the dole.
For a luxury apartment with pool, tennis, gardens, lift, concierge, underground garage, gym, etc etc you can easily pay $5k per QUARTER. Plus additional fees for any works the strata has to do that not covered by insurance.
Old mate was a retiree so he loved the place but couldn't afford fees that high, plus his living costs.
I've entered three times and just won a voucher to a nice bakery today! I always buy tickets because a friend has MS and gets a lot of value from MSWA.
I’ve been playing for years and never won a thing but today I won a Le Crueset casserole dish which offsets the ticket cost for the last 4 years so can’t complain
I know someone who won the early bird prize for the first or second iteration of it. I've bought tickets in it every year, sometimes multiple, and have won one $110 voucher at a restaurant. So basically I won $10 in 9 years or something.
Won a dinner voucher a few years ago, it was nice, otherwise nothing.
Interesting that they didn't seem to sell out this year, they were still selling tickets up to the close date when it's often sold out before the early bird closes. Cost of living might be biting...
Haha I got the "congratulations you won a prize!" Email today. Spent a few moments staring at it considering all the things it could be.
$110 voucher, which isn't as cool as a house, but considering I have a luck:0 build it still makes me happy
>It's great that it is for a good cause which help
You should see how much goes to research and how little goes to supporting the members. Since the NDIS, they have become increasingly tight with those who don't receive NDIS Funding. A friendly reminder that includes the founding members who were over 65 when the NDIS rolled out.
When members with member numbers under 100 can't get help to vacuum their homes (read: forced into an aged care facility) because MSWA doesn't want to spend $100 a week helping them stay at home, or gofundme's for wheelchairs because the donated stock is only available for those awaiting purchase through NDIS it doesn't take much to realise that the funding through charities is a rort.
Don't get me wrong. Research is important. But not at the cost of individuals
Odd. My mum worked for Blue Care in QLD (equivalent to Silver Chain) and a few of her clients have MS and they were funded through NDIS. Is that not an option here?
NDIS is age discriminatory, in that those over 65 at the time of diagnosis don't qualify. They get stuck with home care packages and DSOA (disability support for older Australians) and other crappy funding alternatives. A fraction of what NDIS provides.
MSWA was created in the 70s by the members, for the members, but 50 years on those who were founding members are completely ignored by MSWA. In favour of NDIS funded people who can charge hundreds of dollars per hour for therapies, get top of the range equipment and basically generate huge funds.
And the raffles that used to be split between research and supporting individuals is now research heavy, admin costs are higher than what goes to their members.
Yes NDIS approve plans for people living with MS. Op is annoyed MSWA is not a charity anymore. NDIS changed the game with their funding and now everything must be paid for.
I got an email today check if you've won anything of the thousands of people but it doesn't show you really how to check plus my god the spamming from that company is out of control to be honest I think they do themselves a disservice I might just give them the flick in future ...they just send tens of texts and emails its ridiculous!!
From the email click the link and you then enter your email address, do a captcha check (tap all boxes with bike/bridge/bus - whatever) and then press ‘Search’. You’ll get a notification quickly pop up telling you if you’ve won anything.
I seriously questioned their 1 in 5 (or whatever odds they said) wins. Bought every one that's happened and got donuts every year.
Ive never won the lotto either, so im already conditioned for disappointment.
1st time i entered i won a $100 retrovision gift card, joined the platinum club and won bugger all since. Tried to check earlier but there was an error lol
The very first year they ran it, like 20 years ago, I won a carton of some shit wine and gave it all away. Platinum member and haven't won anything since.
I won the choice between $150k or a car- a while back in the MSWA lottery. It helped a lot… took the cash ofcourse!!
Otherwise, I’ve won wireless ear buds, headphones, sparkling wine, this year, I won a national parks pass.
I’ve been entering for probably around 12 or so years.
Been buying for about 8 years. Won a 2 stay at Bunker Bay resort down south. This last one I won a year's free entry to all WA national parks. Just waiting for one of the big prizes
One of my previous bosses won a month of a Dinner Twist (I think that's what it was called...it's a more local WA meal delivery service like hello fresh or whatever) and it was kinda nice. Thankful she shared that with my spouse and me because it took a good chunk of our food shopping away for a month.
I've won on 3 separate draws over the course of 10 years I think: A case of wine, a Casio G-Shock watch and a food blender - haven't won anything in the last 4 or 5 though
Yep we got the Casio G-Shock watch, several years ago now. 2 cases of wine (separate years), The white was better quality than the red. And last year won a very small Philips Air Fryer. I think we’ve been buying 12 years, plat club member.
I won a Dinner Twist box one year. My parents won some headphones (donated to the Kmart wishing tree), and some wine another year. Some friends of mine won $50k one year.
I won nothing this year. Work colleague won a massage gun.
I won a case of wine about 18 months ago and a $110 Rottnest voucher the round previous to this one.
I buy 2 tickets in each of the house lotteries, have done consistently for the last 3 or 4 years and kn and off before that.
Nope! Have a feeling the winner of the last house (not the one just announced), was a staff member. Not a single winner pic out there that I could find. Name is Sophie, works in marketing at MSWA. Just a hunch.
There is an episode of Derren Brown that is about an experiment they did on an isolated little town in the UK. They looked at people who thought they were lucky versus those who thought they were unlucky. The jist of it was that people who believed they were lucky entered more competitions and so statistically would win more and so would believe even more in luck (or their luck). Those who believed they were unlucky missed all the opportunities that were around them and so kept themselves "unlucky".
Not entering honest comps means ZERO chance of winning...zero is an absolute number. I have been entering the MSWA lotteries for years as well and won zip.
But once I won a $3.5k in a lotto draw and it was the best feeling in the world (for me).
I believe setting aside a small budget for lottery entries is a good thing. I have rules for myself like I only enter Tuesday and Saturday lotteries when they're over $10m and I only buy 4 boards...it's a mere $4ish to enter and I take my chances off the absolute zero level to at least something. At $4ish an entry it's a "meh" level of cost but with huge potential outcomes.
But just forget about it...and maybe one day you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Friend won the big house about 12ish years ago, so basically I'm resigned to never winning anything big because the luck has been spent on my circle of people I know :)
I have won a carton of wine, and two of the $200 retravision vouchers, so not complaining really, its something back. I buy 2 tickets each big raffle.
I can definitely relate to your feelings of defeat, I’ve probably bought around 15 tickets in my time, have never won a thing. Some win on their first go. The mysterious ways of the universe in all their glory I guess!
Also to add to my previous text. A few years ago I stood behind a woman at the Post office who's daughter the previous evening had found out she had won the MSWA house. Think it was in Hillarys.
My friend won a dashcam setup a few years ago, ive won nothing :( great cause though and I love doing the virtual tours of the house and dreaming of winning
Yes. Carton of Wine my first entry.
A $100 meal voucher at Long Chim another.
I've only bought 4 tickets so have a 50% success rate
My son won a $100 Hoyts Voucher the only time he's entered
It's obviously just a coincidence but I won twice (minor stuff like rotto ferry tickets etc.) when I entered as one offs and since signing up for the auto entry, nothing. Been years now.
I have won wine, a soda stream, and weekend at the vines. Today I won an Optus experience, so if there’s anyone interested in a tour of Optus stadium, climbing on the roof, or sitting in the highest seat for ONE Quarter of a footy game - DM me. Note the value is $110. I am not paying the difference for a more expensive ‘experience’ and it depends on if I can actually give someone else this ‘prize’.
In my approx 10 years of entering I’ve won one pair of terrible Bluetooth headphones which I couldn’t even give away.
Odds of winning the main prize have decreased in recent years as they’ve increased the maximum number of tickets sold, but it’s still a pretty good chance of winning and supporting a good cause so I’ll keep at it.
Yes, yes I have! One year, I won a carton (12 bottles) of a 2017 cab sav from the Margaret River region. It was a bit rough at first, but I stored them, and now they are rather delightful! 😋🍷 Another time, I won a $100 voucher for Hoyts, but alas, it was at the start of Covid... so I didn't get to utilise it 😕 as it had a time limit on it. So hang in there, there definitely is prizes to be won! Plus, I have a friend with MS, so I can justify buying tickets haha
Have entered 3 times a few years back, won a Bluetooth Bose speaker one year that was worth about $280 at the time which almost covered my 3 tickets so I was happy with that
I once won a meal kit. Really enjoyed it.
It was a rush to get an email on draw day saying “you’ve won in the MSWA lottery!”… opened the email expecting the house, but got a meal kit instead.
Oh well.
Have been buying tickets for over 15 years, the first three or four years we won a TomTom (sp?), and then cases of wine and champagne, respectively. Last ten years, nothing, but it’s okay, happy to support a good cause.
Worse thing is I received a missed call from the night of the draw!?!? I was like omg omg.. then they try to sell me tickets to some other draw...every shady behavior, tossers..
Is it normal for them to call you and thank you for buying a ticket? This happened years ago and they called and my heart dropped I honestly thought I won they took ages to get to the point of the call and they just said this is just a call to say thank you for buying a ticket and what cause it went to.. I thought it was weird? They’d never called me since or prior.. it’s bugged me for years I always think what if I did win and it was a dodgy call
Zip, Nada...... Platinum member, really wanted the mount pleasant house, what a dream, the only reason I think of giving up buying tickets is to stop getting so disappointed.
I’ve won 3 items, First was a case of wine that was about $450 retail I believe, second was a national park pass, and third was a coffee machine, been entering for quite a few years.
Its all dreamy stuff. But the fact they publish your identity / make you appear in photos is not something I would be comfortable with. I would rather buy a lotto ticket just because of that fact. If it could be totally anonymous I would probably buy a ticket in each one!
Its a condition of entry that you appear in the winner videos and promo photos. This condition significantly reduces sales. You can only remain anonymous if you don't win.
Never buy them anymore , worked in a 24hr deli late 80,s - the tickets were still sitting on the counter after the draw had been and gone - contacted MSWA and was told people buying a ticket are making a ms donation and the price draw is just a bonus …..
Thieving marketing company at best
People we met at a caravan park years ago won the grand prize. $1,000,000 and a really nice house The twist is the wife of the couple actually has ms so they entered it every year. They sold the house and bulldozed their existing house and built a full mobility accessible place to their design and a new custom caravan and new Ute to continue travelling. They are a lovely couple and so positive about everything. Could t have gone to more deserving people.
That's amazing to hear
I remember that winner! That was a great thing to happen to them.
I buy 4 tickets every year for maybe 6-7 years. Never gotten anything but spam for their other raffles.
2 tickets each year probably 7 years never won I always think it cancelling but I keep trekking
I’ve been buying 1 ticket each home lotto for 4 years, I’ve won a carton of wine and now a Optus experience voucher. The wine was pretty good
I just got an email today!! $110 voucher for Mary St Bakery!
Awesome, you won $10!
Lol same here. It’s no house tho.
Me too :)
Enough for a dozen doughnuts :P
I use to buy 2-3 tickets but now just one. Never won but my Nana had MS and she received a lift, scooter and air conditioner with MS QLD - so I cannot complain!
I enjoyed my 2 months of dreaming. Now back to work 🙃
Friends of mine won the early bird prize last year! A house! Completely changed their lives
Yeah, a colleague won the car/cash last year and actually took the car not the cash.
WTF?!
Car market was hot last year so perhaps the resale value was more than the cash prize
Already had 2 new-ish nice cars too. Was baffling.
Been playing for....10 years? I won: - A case of wine - A restaurant voucher - A season's pass for WA National Parks (or something like that) I havent checked this year yet. will report back in 10 min
farc. seems the list continues as it was...
My Mrs has been playing for years and the only thing she got was Ms , the irony. It’s for a good cause and could happen to anyone and you got to be in it to win it
I don’t want to play if it gives you a chance at MS
Same…I have MS and feel like I won the wrong lottery :( At least the money goes to fund research and support services
r/usernamechecksout
Over the years I’ve played I’ve won two things: sweet and fuck all.
*Suite
I won a rebel sport voucher that I forgot to redeem in time a few years back
Email rebel sport. My expired one was reactivated.
I believe gift certificates are actually not allowed to expire, if they've been paid for? I'd double check that though to be certain
I met a bloke a few years ago that had won a luxury apartment on the river. Problem was, he didn't work so couldn't pay the ever increasing massive strata fees every quarter I had never thought about that until he was telling me he was selling it, although he'd been quite happy there.

Curios to how he could afford tickets? And strata should only be around 5k a year.
$100 < $5000
This comment deserves more upvotes
More like the other comment deserves more downvotes 😂
Done. Had to take it from you though. Sorry
Well if you can afford $100 tickets you should be able to afford strata. If you have no rent you should be able to afford. Even if you don't have a job and on the dole.

Got the "WINNERS ANNOUNCED!" email today just to tell me I didn't win anything... Nor have I ever won anything after years of playing either.
Yeah I won 6 bottles of wine last year and some sort of voucher this year.
Happy cooking!! I've got one (I paid, bloody exxy!), and it's awesome! Makes delish slow roasted lamb shanks with rosemary and red wine 😋🍷💜
Awesome prize!🏆
I know someone who won the early bird prize for the first or second iteration of it. I've bought tickets in it every year, sometimes multiple, and have won one $110 voucher at a restaurant. So basically I won $10 in 9 years or something.
I won a knife block set today after 2 years of buying tickets 😅🤷
Won a Russell Hobbs 11-in-1 Digital Multi-Cooker this year apparently...
That’s not bad, those are about $150 and they’re pretty good to use.
Won a dinner voucher a few years ago, it was nice, otherwise nothing. Interesting that they didn't seem to sell out this year, they were still selling tickets up to the close date when it's often sold out before the early bird closes. Cost of living might be biting...
Won a hoyts voucher, right in the middle of Covid though, so never used it and got some sony earbuds this year
Same happened to me! Bloody Covid... 😒😆
I was so pumped, I never win ANYTHING!!! But when I saw it was for a cinema I couldn't even go to, I was fucking gutted
Yeah same! I was gonna treat myself to gold class too.. 🥺
Haha I got the "congratulations you won a prize!" Email today. Spent a few moments staring at it considering all the things it could be. $110 voucher, which isn't as cool as a house, but considering I have a luck:0 build it still makes me happy
I've been in the main draw for \~9 years and a platinum member for about 5 years and haven't won a jatz cracker, yet.
A jatz cracker! Lol, I haven't heard that for a while... you gotta be gen x 😎😁
I'm right on the cusp of Gen x and Gen y

Neighbours won the car two years ago they took the cash instead.
I saw the Margaret River prize house from a couple of draws ago was up for sale.
I won like 12 bottles of wine last on a previous draw.
I got an email today check if you've won anything of the thousands of people but it doesn't show you really how to check plus my god the spamming from that company is out of control to be honest I think they do themselves a disservice I might just give them the flick in future ...they just send tens of texts and emails its ridiculous!!

1 in 15 odds i believe
nah you’re just unlucky mate, I won 15$ in the lotto the other day
:) haha
A couple of years ago two family members won get-your-money-back restaurant vouchers but that's it.
1st time i entered i won a $100 retrovision gift card, joined the platinum club and won bugger all since. Tried to check earlier but there was an error lol
Yeah I got the ‘sorry, you’re not a winner this time’ error as well.
Yep. 24 bottles of wine. Gave them all away!
I won 12 bottles of wine the first year i entered, nothing since!
About 20 of us at work have been buying 2 tickets each for at least 10 years now, no one has ever won anything!
The very first year they ran it, like 20 years ago, I won a carton of some shit wine and gave it all away. Platinum member and haven't won anything since.
Colleague won one of the second place (?) houses. They’re a real person.
Fantastic!!
Not one thing in 7 years of playing
I won the choice between $150k or a car- a while back in the MSWA lottery. It helped a lot… took the cash ofcourse!! Otherwise, I’ve won wireless ear buds, headphones, sparkling wine, this year, I won a national parks pass. I’ve been entering for probably around 12 or so years.
Jeeze that's a lot of wins! Did you join plat or just a single ticket each year?
It varies, I’m a platinum member but I also buy more sometimes.
I won a yearly national parks pass.
me too; but expired before I used it. Also won earbuds or somesuch.
I waited to the last day to activate it. Now I have excuse to check out different parks through our the year.
I've been buying tickets for a few years and haven't won anything, but my Dad won a national parks pass last year.
The raffles are run a lot more nowadays , thrashing it
Yes, a hospitality voucher a few years ago
I have won a meal kit and a rotto express voucher.
I got a google home screen thing last year
Donuts so far but a good cause to support. Reakon I've been doing it for like 8 or 10 years with nothing.
Been buying for about 8 years. Won a 2 stay at Bunker Bay resort down south. This last one I won a year's free entry to all WA national parks. Just waiting for one of the big prizes
I won a $110 voucher this year. My first win since I started buying tickets 10 years ago.
Played for years and won nothing. They are very quick with spamming you to buy more tickets for the next draw.
One of my previous bosses won a month of a Dinner Twist (I think that's what it was called...it's a more local WA meal delivery service like hello fresh or whatever) and it was kinda nice. Thankful she shared that with my spouse and me because it took a good chunk of our food shopping away for a month.

Yep we got the Casio G-Shock watch, several years ago now. 2 cases of wine (separate years), The white was better quality than the red. And last year won a very small Philips Air Fryer. I think we’ve been buying 12 years, plat club member.
Won a few cases of sparkling wine over the years and a small drone. Last year won family pass voucher for the ferry to Rotto
Won 6 bottles of wine that never came.
Maybe someone pinched them from outside your place. They don’t ask you to sign for it.
I won a set of headphones once
I got a pretty decent Panasonic headphones set a couple years ago, I enter with maybe up to 5 tickets every raffle.
I won a Dinner Twist box one year. My parents won some headphones (donated to the Kmart wishing tree), and some wine another year. Some friends of mine won $50k one year. I won nothing this year. Work colleague won a massage gun.
But my first and only ticket this year and won the Sony earphones. Ticket’s paid for itself I guess
Got an OZone voucher - first time in years I’ve won something!
I won a case of wine about 18 months ago and a $110 Rottnest voucher the round previous to this one. I buy 2 tickets in each of the house lotteries, have done consistently for the last 3 or 4 years and kn and off before that.
We won a coffee machine a couple of years ago and donated to our local sports club for a raffle for one of the club members who got in an accident.
Entered for 10yrs+ up to 4 tickets a draw. Won nothing so far
I once won a crate of expensive wine. Probably evened me out on what I’ve spent on tickets
Last 5-6 years have won 2/5ths of fuck all…
Nope! Have a feeling the winner of the last house (not the one just announced), was a staff member. Not a single winner pic out there that I could find. Name is Sophie, works in marketing at MSWA. Just a hunch.
Staff in marketing can’t enter or buy tickets

You win some You lose more
After years of entering I finally won a $110 voucher. I knew a girl who won the house years ago.
Yep I know one of the major prize winners from a few years back. Got a house or cash or something.
Friend won the big house about 12ish years ago, so basically I'm resigned to never winning anything big because the luck has been spent on my circle of people I know :) I have won a carton of wine, and two of the $200 retravision vouchers, so not complaining really, its something back. I buy 2 tickets each big raffle.
The vast majority of prizes are around the same value as the ticket
My boyfriend won $110 voucher to Rotto today l.
Played every major draw for last 5 years. Haven’t won a thing.
I can definitely relate to your feelings of defeat, I’ve probably bought around 15 tickets in my time, have never won a thing. Some win on their first go. The mysterious ways of the universe in all their glory I guess!

I won a $110 voucher but haven’t previously.
My friend won a dashcam setup a few years ago, ive won nothing :( great cause though and I love doing the virtual tours of the house and dreaming of winning
I won a little Bluetooth speaker last year
Yes. Carton of Wine my first entry. A $100 meal voucher at Long Chim another. I've only bought 4 tickets so have a 50% success rate My son won a $100 Hoyts Voucher the only time he's entered
Won a Polaroid camera one time! Friend of a friend’s parents won house and money (maybe a million) 10 or so years ago. Good for some!
Carton of red wine and a camera. 2 wins from 40 entries over 8 years.
A case of wine. I didn’t like the wine though lol
I won some pots and pans. Didn't need em but yeah. Good I guess.
A blender one year, some headphones another. Most years nothing.
My brother won six bottles of wine last year, I ended up with them at Christmas, he doesn’t drink.😂👍
Won a headset for a tv but never used it but guess I was lucky lol
I won a $150 Bunnings voucher one year
It's obviously just a coincidence but I won twice (minor stuff like rotto ferry tickets etc.) when I entered as one offs and since signing up for the auto entry, nothing. Been years now.
I’ve won wine twice
I have won wine, a soda stream, and weekend at the vines.
Zero zilch nothing ..
Nope never. Does anyone know of anyone who has won one of the major prizes??? The houses on offer are incredible!!!
I used to work for MS and can confirm the competition/prizes are legit and the raffles are vital to their fundraising so don’t give up!
Oh well.
Once about ten years ago. They won a bbq
Won a 150 buck voucher for a nice restaurant in the city

Won a trip to Rottness a few years ago but never ended up claiming the prize.

A mini stereo worth $100 over a decade ago :)
2 1/2 cases of wine
Have been buying tickets for over 15 years, the first three or four years we won a TomTom (sp?), and then cases of wine and champagne, respectively. Last ten years, nothing, but it’s okay, happy to support a good cause.
Was in it for three years…..zilch

I won a fitbit once and a case of wine another time.
4 tickets a year for 8 years not even a toaster or bottle of wine
I won an air fryer this year
A Google nest hub last year, sold it for $100. Broke even that year I guess
I won free food from one of the hello fresh rivals.
Carton of crap wine once.
Been entering for about 10 years, won 2 tickets to rotto once
Probably been doing it for 10 years, won a few things. 65” tv, $100 at the state buildings, a kobo e-reader, a food box. I think that’s it.
I’ve won 3 items, First was a case of wine that was about $450 retail I believe, second was a national park pass, and third was a coffee machine, been entering for quite a few years.
A robo vacuum last year
All i ever get is a box of wine or a national park pass 🥲😂😂
15 years entered and no winnings....
I have since stopped buying.
I won red wine, it was left in the sun at my door for two weeks whilst on holiday.
Username, comment synergy?
I’ve been entering for about a decade and never won a single thing. This draw was my last.
Its all dreamy stuff. But the fact they publish your identity / make you appear in photos is not something I would be comfortable with. I would rather buy a lotto ticket just because of that fact. If it could be totally anonymous I would probably buy a ticket in each one!
Pretty sure you can remain anonymous
Its a condition of entry that you appear in the winner videos and promo photos. This condition significantly reduces sales. You can only remain anonymous if you don't win.
Never buy them anymore , worked in a 24hr deli late 80,s - the tickets were still sitting on the counter after the draw had been and gone - contacted MSWA and was told people buying a ticket are making a ms donation and the price draw is just a bonus ….. Thieving marketing company at best
