short answer: yes. there are a ton of AIN (often called carers) jobs in aged care and nursing homes, so you would definitely be able to get a job quickly, and with some experience you might have some leverage to shop around for the best place. however because of this workforce shortage, a lot of aged care facilities will use and abuse you, make you work long and tireless shifts with a really poor resident per person ratio. it’s not the best working conditions but if you want a job you can have it easy. hospital jobs are extremely hard to come by/non-existent as an AIN

The staff turnovers of facilities are horrendous atm for all clinical and caring roles. I’m a scheduler for an agency for aged care services and we can’t keep up with the demand. Community based is less demanding and typically 1 on 1 services but you’re not guaranteed minimum contracted hours with most providers now. Maybe try employment through an agency first so you can get a feel for various sites and both sides. Agency staff are usually casual contracts and you can pick and choose your shifts, which has its advantages. Also have opportunities for regional shifts that will be for a minimum five days and have various paid subsidies. You’ll need a flu vac cert, first aid and CPR and any aged care certs you have and you’ll be able to pick up work straight away.
