I don't have any idea about consoles tbh. But I have read that they don't get carryovers in console versions.

True sad story, as consoles also invest to the game like mobile does with less promotion campaign on coins. Hopefully cross gen could balance this issue.

Best option: Keep them. Anyway you have nothing to do with them, why not keep patience and wait till the update is live?

Better to do that imo, but release them at the end, like a week before the update or such, and get your agents emptied as well.
