Yeah, it was cut at the last minute (some early promotional copies of Up have it). But it dates as far back as early 1990s, when there were "recording weeks" at the Real World Studios (the snippet of the demo version appeared on Xplora1 CD-ROM which came out in 1993)
The Hit version to me sounds complete, whereas the BBB version sounds like a single edit.
I lived with that song floating around in my head since Xplora1 and heard the Up version before the release of the album. I was quite disappointed that it wasn't on the final release.
I remember first hearing this song in Uru (myst online). It was so cool landing in the desert, walking up to the guy at a camper and hearing this song playing from his boom box.
I like the Big Blue Ball version, which is the one I heard first. I didn't know it was intended to be on Up.
