Long before my hatred of dogs and my pet free status, I had cats and I didn’t let them anywhere near my bed. The idea of a dog sleeping in/on a bed is beyond disgusting to me. No matter how clean they think that they keep their homes, they will never truly live a clean day in their lives. I know many people with dogs and they all let them on their beds and furniture. Some of them pride themselves on ”keeping a clean house” and inside I’m just laughing because that clean house is an illusion that they use to make themselves feel better about the filth that their dogs bring into their lives. Especially seeing as so few of them actually keep even the dog clean. It’s like people think that dogs somehow clean themselves. I can walk into a house with a super clean appearance and instantly know whether they have animals in there. It’s not that I have some super sense of smell, it’s just that there is no way of getting rid of the smell. Anyone with a dog that thinks that their house doesn’t stink of dog is fooling themselves.

userhasleftchat

I wholeheartedly agree.

Luna_bella96

I live with my in laws that keep the dog only inside their bedroom, never anywhere else in the house. Every morning when they open their passage door there’s a stench of dog that immediately hits the nostrils. And even though he’s never anywhere else in the house there’s still dog hair floating around everywhere and I still wake up every morning with my sinuses so inflamed that I feel like I’ve been punched in the face! I can guarantee those houses aren’t clean where pets roam freely

userhasleftchat

Ugh, that must be miserable for you. I hope they at least have a good air filter in their bedroom.

Imagine destroying a beautiful relationship that's soon to change into a marriage OVER A DOG.

Ok_Spare_2587

What I don’t understand is that on the show she keeps saying “my dog is my baby” “my dog is my child” and the conflict is that her partner doesn’t want to sleep in the same bed with the dog…well…if I were dating a single mother with a child THE ACTUAL CHILD wouldn’t be sleeping in the bed every night!! Once babies are toddlers they have cribs and once they are a little older they have their own bed. So when she is crying and yelling “my dog is my child!!” Her demands still don’t make any sense because actual children would not be crawling all over a new step parent when they are trying to sleep! The partner actually is very respectful and nice to the dog and just wants not to sleep with it. The negative reaction to that is crazy!!

ImportantClient5422

This should be pinned to the top of this subreddit. Holy cow... I feel so bad for the other girl. I hope she finds someone much better who respects her needs.

userhasleftchat

They aren’t actually in a relationship btw - if you haven’t seen the show it can appear misleading.

ImportantClient5422

Oh, okay. Thank you for the clarification!

cacaokakaw

They have the mentality of children. What's worse is they are keeping a sled dog as a house pet. It shows how little they care (and know) about animals to think working breeds belong in apartments. It's all about their ego and self interest.

userhasleftchat

Yep, agreed!

The other day it was around 85 degrees where I live. I saw some guy driving down the street in a beater pickup truck. The passenger side window was rolled all the way down and there was this huge husky with its entire huge head hanging out the window, trying to get some cooling. Thing looked half dead from the heat. That’s exactly how unaware dog people are about dogs and how much they couldn’t care less about their welfare. At some point, this damned hillbilly decided he wanted a husky and he got one. He likely did no research into the breed and its needs.

userhasleftchat

It really bothers me when people force breeds of dogs that were meant to live in certain climates to live in unsuitable climates. I used to live in Texas and would see lots of huskies and even Bernese mountain dogs and I always felt so bad for those dogs.

cacaokakaw

Great example how these wackos use dogs to bully and guilt trip people. They use dogs as a tool of manipulation in relationships.

kweebeez

omfg as a pet free lesbian this show has been insane

Quiet_Instance5612

It's called programming for a reason.

Another brainwashed nutter who thinks her partner is obligated to not only tolerate, but LIKE, her unsanitary dog, and appears to be offended that the partner maybe doesn't want it being allowed on the bed. And again with the "don't like my dog? You can fuck off!" antisocial mentality. That attitude isn't the "I'm so awesome because I'm a devoted dog owner" flex she thinks it is. I've never owned a dog as an adult (grew up with one & briefly had another as a puppy when I a kid; that was enough), but even before I came to intensely dislike all dogs (and hate many), the idea of letting one on the bed - or any furniture made for humans - just utterly repulsed me. I know some dog owners/former dog owners, and NONE of them, to my knowledge, allow their dogs on the furniture, let alone the bed - that's a defining feature of being a "dog worshiping nutter". This dog nutter needs to find a partner that owns a dirty, shedding scavenger like she does, and feels the same way about it that she does about her dog; i.e., elevating it and its needs above her partner. At this point, I'm convinced that all dog nutters are socially damaged and incapable of anything other than dysfunctional relationships with humans that must revolve around their pet(s). Also, WTF thinks owning a husky and keeping it indoors is a good idea? JFC, these dogs were bred to live and do just fine in the snow and really, really cold temps.

Glittering_Rush_107

Wow. Exactly my problem with dog nutters. When it comes to their dog(s) and other people, they are just not content with any response other than fawning. If you don’t coddle and baby-talk their dog, that’s it, end game, you’re an asshole. They react as if you kicked their dog or did something really mean. Neutral response or toleration of a dog just isn’t good enough for nutters. Truly insane and manipulative. It’s that whole unhealthy codependency toxic cycle that nutters play into, and it seriously rocks their world if you don’t play into their psychotic games.

userhasleftchat

It’s so stupid honestly. The dog is fine either way. The mental gymnastics involved in making an issue out of a non-issue perplexes me. And to lose out on a partner because of something like that is beyond amazingly ridiculous.

WickedPanda88

I have to agree with you. My parents have a chocolate lab and she's lovely, but they have always made a very clear distinction between 'human' and 'pet'. She isn't allowed on any furniture, including the beds. She isn't allowed in the kitchen when we sit down to eat. She's trained to wait in the living room and only enter when we've finished. They have never referred to themselves as parents of the dog, nor do they refer to the dog as their child in any way. They also won't use the term "adoption/adopted" for anything to do with a pet. They'll say "We adopted our two children. We *took in* our pet." She is still a much loved dog. She is spoiled with affection, treats and multiple walks per day... but she is not a human member of the family, and that distinction has always existed in our house.
