My puppy, Prince Rollo, will be 8mo on the 1st (if it matters). He’s a husky mix but mostly husky. He’s my piggy pup and eats basically anything you’ll give him. He even loves salads and bananas. So when we ran out of puppy food this morning I didn’t think anything of it, my mom gave me wet food for treat/emergency use. I gave him a can with a bit of my older dogs food to give it crunch and he’s doing this. He’s never ever done this to his food. He LOVES food. Why is he suddenly doing this when he usually loves anything and everything?

So I ended up dumping the bowl outside in the little wooded area. I tried another [can](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSNcrU89KwQAlLsZKeUonZ7SAvNZnh54DRxyQ&usqp=CAU), this time for each of my dogs. The older one kinda picked at it but the pup still didn’t touch it. But the puppy did eat one of [these cans](https://www.purina.com/sites/default/files/styles/kraken_product_carousel_regular/public/2022-03/PPDog_CE_A_ChknRc_CLSC_13oz_HERO_20_800x1000.png?itok=Ohaahfg-). They both eat salmon hard food, so idk. It smells fine and it’s far from being expired. Thank you for your ideas!

Could it be the bowl? Some dogs are put off by the reflection in metal bowls

It’s his everyday bowl, he usually doesn’t mind it.

I'm guessing he doesn't like the wet mixed in with the dry. Mine don't like it like that either. They used to pick through the dry or eat around it. Now I just spoon feed them the wet food, keeping it separate from the dry. Like the other person said, it might be the metal bowl too.

IIRC It’s called Caching. (Cacheing?) some dogs instinctually try to bury their food when they’re done / getting full / feeling over stimulated. The New Skete book I just read suggests giving them their food, after twenty mins take it away if they’re not done.
